So, I would like that in the next time people read ALL my post before quoting me....

It seems to me though like you are basing your opinion off of only the most recent Namie stuff. She HAS done some difficult dance moves (and this comes from me with 10+ years of pro ballet and jazz training) while singing at the same time and barely faltering vocally if at all. Nowadays she does more hip hop kind of dance style, but she used to do things like leaps and not so easy turns all while singing and sounding great. Is it the most difficult dancing ever done? No. But it is impressive considering that she doesn't lip synch. I know that you will just say "that's in the past, its not now", but her dancing now is still incredibly tiring and nonstop and people in this thread are posting like her dancing has always been easy, never been difficult, and that that is the only reason she is able to sing and dance at the same time and that is simply not true. Namie is just simply some being from outerspace when it comes to stamina and singing/dancing at the same time.

Seriously, I've seen Namie in concert twice now, and marvel how at 31 (or any age for that matter), she does not faint by the midway point of the concert.

It's just because I really like to see that they are getting better over time =) So, yeah, I really like and respect Namie as an artist and I think that she was a far better performer at Play tour tham she was at Live Style... And I'm really waiting for Best Fiction Tour 'cause I have the feeling that it will be even better!^^

Well, that is nice to know though. :) And as I said, I actually somewhat agree with you about Live Style seeming somewhat dry. I went to the Play tour and I actually think that the Best Fiction tour is 50x better. I really encourage you though to go seek out her pre-style stuff. As much as I like her HIPPOP music, I do miss her older style and her performances from back then and it seems these days a lot of fans don't look any further back than the Style album (or even Queen of Hip Pop) and that is a shame.

btw, just found this in the Namie thread. Frankly I'm shocked that she hadn't had a serious fall yet dancing in those stilletos all the time:

"Listen up! At today's live, I fell down really badly for the first time.
I'm pretty certain this is the first time I've had such a bad fall!
For a moment, my my mind went blank and I had no idea where I was or what I was doing.
mmm, it was pretty scary... Furthermore! It's the new song! It's not right!
Dr. didn't help me...
At such a time, why not!?

Poor her :O

Well, I know some of her older stuff, but never saw her 90s concerts (when I was trying to know more about her I couldn't find any to download). I don't think I like any Namie's album, when I get them, I listen to it once or twice and keep only the singles (there are just a few artists that I have full albums, and even if Namie is my third favorite jpop act behind Hikki and Ayu, the thing I enjoy the most about her is seeing her performing)... I think that I should try one of her older albums^^

SunshineSlayer 7th April 2009 07:59 PM

^ I'm kind of the same way when I first get into an artist. I only really listen to the singles and then it takes me seeing a concert to really start to get into the album tracks. :)

@Andrenekoi

You also seem to not understand, or at least from my view that just because a song doesn't seem difficult for you to seem, then it doesn't seem difficult for others to sing. If you see her early promotional efforts for any new single she tries to train her voice to sing in the way the track was recorded, and it's not easy but after a while she manages to do so. Just because a song is SOOOOO easy for you to sing, doesn't mean it's easy for her to sing, and as far as dancing goes I don't care what anyone says about her choreography always being easy, cause if you ask me it's prolly hard for her as well, not every person is a trained dancer.

Well, as I said... her choreographies don't impress me, the way she can put it out singing at the same time, THIS impress me... singing is very tiring and dancing is very tiring, and yeah, I agree that the way she manage to keep 2:30 hours singing and dancing at the same time non stop IS very impressive and few pop singers can do that (in fact, I can't about any that does this the way she does... there are far better vocalists and dancers, but none of them can sing AND dance GOOD at the same time for a entire concert nonstop like Namie does)

Namie unstoppable

I adore Namie. She's such a iron woman with her tours. :D I don't understand how she can sing non-stop for two and half hours. But I really admire her for that fact. And she doesn't even lip sync? wow. I gotta confess that I had that image of her but then I saw few performances of her past tours I noticed she didn't do that. Good good ^^b

JackieRos 15th May 2009 12:21 AM

wow congrats NAMIE!
