I listened to random anime songs when I was younger but I can't remember specifically what was first. ~_~ The first like mainstream j-pop song I heard though was Paradox by w-inds. <333 I would listen to it on repeat for hours and hours.

If memory serves me correctly, my first Japanese song was "Rashiku Ikimasho" from Sailor Moon. That was back in 1997. I streamed a raw video of the Sailor Moon SuperS special ~Ami's first Love~ and heard it in the credits.

Later, about 2000-ish I heard Rhythm Emotion, Just Communication, etc... by Two-Mix (THE BEST DANCE-POP JAPANESE DUO EVER!!!) I started listening to them after the big Gundam Wing explosion in the US.

My first Japanese song was Evolution by Ayumi. Well, the first one I actually properly listened to. If we really got down to what was the first one, it has to be the Sailor Moon Japanese theme tune xD
