There's a presale raffle going on at Lawson's right now for his YELLOW FRIED CHICKEN tour. Entering tomorrow for a friend and I who are hoping to go see him on June 16th at Zepp Tokyo!

I had an amazing dream about him last night......it must be a sign that we're destined to get those tickets. :luv2

Hey, just wanted to post my thoughts on Gackt's new DVD and the Avex move.

For Avex: I think its interesting and I think it will either be really great or a huge disaster. Avex is not known for its male artists or rock artists for that matter. I'm thinking the much improved Kamen rider single sales are partially behind the move.

For the DVD: Before I start, I'm a huge Gackt fan and I actually went to see the tour live.

Gackt has pretty much always had his vocals edited in his past dvds (even though it is totally unnecessary, so the fact that he does it never has made sense to me), but this DVD was seriously overkill. Had I not actually seen the concert myself and had no prior knowledge of Gackt, I would totally have thought this whole concert was lip synched. On top of that, the mix is really terrible - it does not give the impression of a live concert at all - probably because they are mixing a non-live vocal track with live music tracks and audience noise tracks. Everything just sounds so plasticky and manufactured. Ayumi for example also edits her vocals for DVD quite a bit, but Avex does it so professionally that it is often hard to tell when and how much she does it. So maybe at least in the DVD regard, him going to Avex might be a good thing.

My main complaint though is that they added about 100,000 sound effects that were not in the actual concert. Now I know why the DVD took so long to come out. All those robot effects and such I thought were really distracting and I would much rather just see the concert the way that they audience saw it.

What? There wasn't all that robotic noise in the actual concert? I was hoping that we'd get a more "real" feel to the concert - Gackt's got wonderful vocals, I don't think they needed to edit so much.

Overall, I really liked this concert, I especially enjoyed the Ghost performance, it was so cool. I really liked the interlude video clip too (when Gackt contacts Delta 2), it put a smile on my face. Although, this isn't my favourite concert that I've watched of Gackt (I like 6th Day 7th Night the best), he looked like he really enjoyed himself. This guy is not only a brilliant singer, he is also an amazing musician composing all those songs, and playing them live at concerts - violin, piano and guitar in this concert ^_^

I've got a question though - was the Sayonara performance just from a screen? Cos it if it was, I think it went on too long >_< Not enough time with real Gackt.

Nackar_91 29th April 2010 11:48 AM

The DVD is a enormous letdown for me. I've never been this disappointed in a release from him. He's made us wait this long for THAT?

I was there at the actual concert, and it was amazing. A great experience, one of the best concerts I've ever been to. The voice editing I don't mind. Every artist does it. It could've been done better, but oh well. But the sound was plain HORRIBLE! The music sounded lifeless and pushed to the background to allow for those pointless and ridiculous sound effects. I stopped watching the whole thing about a quarterway through.

I'm sorry for ranting like this, but I've never seen Gackt fail so hard before so it's really bugging me. Let's hope Avex knows better than to allow disasters like this to fall through >.>

LOL @ ARE YOU "FRIED CHICKENz" XDXDXD.

Was he drunk when he came up with that title? I understood from CDJapan that it's a rock-song collection album. Seems a bit random to me, but it must be his old label trying to cash in one last time before he moves to Avex?

so fried chicken is a best of? so there'll be 2?

thanks for the news!

Single best? I wonder what songs will be on there... There's Love Letter, Redemption, Longing, No ni saku Hana no youni, Returner and then his 10th anniversary singles which all appeared on the Rebirth album... I sure hope there's new material.
Oh, I forgot there's also those Kamden Raider stuff too.

Key ~eternal tie~ 8th May 2010 09:07 PM

Wow, how could I have forgotten about the singles from his last two albums????
There's quite a lot of singles to choose from then. I hope he won't put setsugekka on this so he can save it for his next original studio album.

Nackar_91 8th May 2010 09:39 PM

Well, there are 19 songs in total, minus the Kamen Rider ones that makes 16. His last collection had 14 songs ... He might add all 16, but for some reason I see him leaving out Setsugekka and maybe also No ni Saku Hana no You ni. It's a special song, after all, and Juunigatsu no Love Song also didn't make the first collection.

roanmy 6th June 2010 12:27 AM

I'm listening to the concert now... It sounds like they added studio version of th esongs to the video with weird and random audience noices. =S

Key ~eternal tie~ 8th June 2010 08:15 PM

The tickets for the England concert has already sold out... This was 3 hours after sales started. I'm so disappointed, I won't get to see Gackt :( I hope someone will provide a review of the show.

Nackar_91 8th June 2010 10:12 PM

It was crazy. Apparently, he had enough people apply for tickets in Germany to fill an 18.000 seats venue. I hope he adds more/larger dates!

adantatu2 9th June 2010 12:40 AM

He is so succesful!!

2Hurt 9th June 2010 09:00 AM

It's really cool that he is so succesful here in Europe :D Now we must get more european releases :D

Key ~eternal tie~ 9th June 2010 06:28 PM

Yeah, it's good news that his concert tickets are selling so well. I'm disappointed for not being able to get a ticket but at least there's more chance of Gackt coming to Europe again. I wonder what songs he will sing though...

Chandrachan 10th June 2010 01:50 AM

So is anyone going to Gackt's European Tour?
I checked for tickets for the London one but it's already sold out..
