I'm not trying to be a hater because I really like Kuu, but I don't really get the big deal with her getting number one instead of Kaela. I mean, when you think about it, Kuu's SHOULD'VE sold more since it was two albums in one (although the limited version of Kaela's album contained a 2nd disc).

Sorry but it's hardly a victory. I <3 Kaela but she's a second rate artist and Kuu should've blown her out of the water, but she hardly surpassed her.

considering the fact that this best combo/album was released well after kuu's prime + this is her "fifth" best album in 5 years, and it was kaela's first best (and she is on the rise popularity wise), i'd say kaela should have sold more than kuu. it's not about who got 1 or not, but a lot of us wanted kuu to get 1 because we feel like she deserves it. :P

I personally thought Kaela had a right to get the number 1 since she has never even had a best album, and for people who didn't know her, it would have given them a chance to buy a really packed album and check her out, if they had heard of her since she is gaining more fans.

I don't really think it's a sign of kuu like going down in popularity over the last year, but a mark of kaela's rising. She now has numbers that can compete with other female solos.

Kuu's numbers seem to be declining at the same rate and staying in a relative area to me.


It's kinda just like Ayu's number one. Doesn't really mean anything, but serves for prestige.

the way i look at it though is kaela's best is just old material with a few new songs. kuu has an entirely new album added with hers and it feels like a lot more work went into it releasewise, rather than just compiling a cd of already recorded songs.

....sadly sales didn't really reflect that. It's kinda sad the UNIVERSE got tacked onto the third best like some kind of side bonus...just to help the best sell better...with better production...it could've been a standout album of its own.

oh well, shes not gonna have another best of in a few more years so lets hope she's gonna keep on releasing great stuff! cause universe still pretty cool! i mean come on, kuu is in a totally different level as an artist right now, she stepped it up and you can tell with this new album, that didn't need to have a thousand new pvs but still caught everybody's attention :) and im loving most of the new tracks

Actually, 5years only had one new song (You bet!!) and the rest were all of her A-sides from the past half decade but I get what you and Emiko were trying to get to ( :yes ).
