I've never thought that Ayu would leech off someone else's popularity, especially of those groups that aren't even that popular in Japan. Nor do I think a collab would boost her popularity as even teenagers in Japan know who she is and what her music sounds like. Creating one song that will potentially appeal to the younger masses who listen to kpop could very well back fire and leave a stain on her spotless musical catalog.

Comparing ayu to k-pop is stupid, though it doesn't mean she can't collab with any k-pop artist. She likes k-pop boybands, she can collab with them if she wants.

The "older act + newer act" collab tends to work a lot, and benefits both the older one (who is noticed again by the newer generation) and the newer one (as it borrows some of the veretan prestige), and as far as the song is good, there isn't anything really wrong about it. Also, she doesn't need to just put her voice on a random kpop song (unless it's BigBang's song), they can find a mid-term that tends to be pretty interesting.

It's not like Ayu never done that before... Actually, she always had duets with people that could boost her image during Ayu Ready... both top tier veterans and fresh young stars.

Also, the most you say Ayu's discography is "spotless" or like to see her as a high artist of any sort, most of her biggest hits are either generic summer tracks or generic winter tracks... She is aiming the mainstream since day 1.

I'm not very fan of k-pop etc.. but the difference between BigBang’s Fan and Ayu's Fan is that they are very glad to this new while the majority here are totally the opposite ...

I have to admit. I really don't like BIGBANG because I just don't like their songs, PV's and the way they act like they got swagger and everything. BUT I COULDN'T HELP MYSELF FOR DOWNLOADING "THE BEST OF BIGBANG" (Japanese ver. of course since I can't stand Korean) AFTER HEARING Haru Haru OMFG THAT SONG IS PERFECTION. That song is so different from all the songs I've heard from them, the PV is on a different level as well...

@emi It goes beyond a simple picture. Look at the way fans react to things they don't like about what Kuu does and the things they don't like about what ayu does. You have to admit the negatively towards ayu far exceeds that toward kumi. I'm not saying every fan of both ladies are harder on ayu. But kuu fans are much more likely to take it easier on her for the same or similar things that ayu does. Nobody has to like anything they don't want to like for the sake of it being ayu. But why does she get shat on for almost every little thing while other artists get a pass? I'm not trying to call kuu fans out. In fact, I WISH ayu fans were more like kuu fans.
