The stage already looks awesome.

Delicious n Bold 12th September 2012 12:15 PM

I'm so tempted to buy Style off of CDJapan.
The special price just shouldn't be passed up. And Style is an amazing album as well. To this day, I'm still baffled as to why it 'failed'. Just look at (some of) the track list: shine more, so crazy, put em up, come, lovebite, Indy lady.

Don't worry, I basically had the same reaction, lol. Especially since it doesn't really look like anything at all right now. Nothing is finalized.

I think it was bad timing. That's when Ayu and Utada were still ruling the world.

I never get tired of that album though. Plus the b-sides from that era are just as amazing.

I tried to listen to Style but I didn't like it.
I'm going to try again!

For some reason I thought the 20th Anniversary concert was indoors...I guess this is better than nothing. Outdoors concerts tend to be a bit boring imo. Lighting isn't as controlled, sound is usually worse and there is less possible in terms of stage design.
Of course, you CAN make great use of outdoors venues, too, it's just rare.

emi♡ 13th September 2012 09:36 PM

meh. It was raining at kuu's Dream Music Park, and it was still amazing...

And her set was awesome. But then she was in a stadium I guess.

jean-baptiste 13th September 2012 11:12 PM

Watch any artist's concert done outdoors. Majority get caught in the rain. I wonder if it's really a mishap or done on purpose for dramatic effect.

Can't wait for the live!

R_Hikki 13th September 2012 11:20 PM

^ Lol, it would be funny if it were on purpose. Namie would look pretty sexy dancing in the rain. *thinks of "SO CRAZY" video*

SunshineSlayer 14th September 2012 04:18 AM

I think this situation is a bit different than other artists concerts. Rock bands and whatnot can perform somewhat in Typhoon's, but Namie's show is centered completely around her dancing in stiletto heals. That's dangerous. I can see this show getting rescheduled; either that or they will have to change the show quite a bit I think or put her in tennis shoes the whole time. :) They are going to announce today at 3 whether the show will go on or not.

UHPlus 14th September 2012 04:25 AM

Raining and in the middle of a typhoon are TOTALLY two different things. You will only get wet when it's raining but you will get blown away or the stage may collapse when there's a typhoon...

prussian blue 14th September 2012 04:32 AM

Show officially canceled.

SunshineSlayer 14th September 2012 07:29 AM

Yep, it is cancelled - no news on whether it will be given a new date or not.

edit: It looks like it will NOT be rescheduled. I think a lot of people were probably flying there specifically for this so I suppose changing the date would be too difficult for a lot of people.

dannysan 14th September 2012 07:37 AM

The cancel information about the event "namie amuro 20th ANNIVERSARY LIVE in OKINAWA"

We are deeply sorry to announce this cancellation to you and please understand this decision from current worst weather situation.
There is no rescheduled concert because of the purpose of this event that the event date is the debut day of 20th anniversary.

:(:(:(

ExodusUK 14th September 2012 09:28 AM

So dumb, they should just reschedule or move it to an Arena/Dome. Maybe even use everything prepared for a New Years concert.

Mr. Goto 14th September 2012 09:32 AM

"Namie was planned to perform How To Be A Girl, Lets Go, a walk in the park, Chase the Chance and Whisper"

I just saw this on twitter and umm ummm ummmmmmmm!!! :weep :weep :headache

omfg she better perform those + more old hits for the dome tour..and include it on the dvd/blu-ray

Minttulatte 14th September 2012 09:39 AM

She was gonna sing Whisper? D: I hope she sings it at the Dome Tour then ;_;

Not Fade Away 14th September 2012 09:43 AM

^OMFG I LOVE WHISPER.

I'm not gonna lie, this is pretty upsetting news. Even though I couldn't attend the concert, I was still hoping for amazing pics.

I also wanted to see her collaborate with the other artists....I'm guessing they won't join her for the dome tours?

Well she already has a Dome tour scheduled and its hard to reschedule something for Okinawa - I would guess around half the people going were going to be flying there.

I hope they at least tried to reschedule it and failed because that'd really be the next best option. It's a shame, from what the stage looks like it would've been an epic event.

EXACTLY. It's such ******** that they're saying there's no point in rescheduling because it was supposed to be on her 20th anniversary. Screw you guys, just delay it and have it be a special show. Ugh. Poor Namie.

Because it wouldn't have been on her 20th anniversary, you don't understand ...
:P

Wasnt Namie debut in Tokyo or something? And wasn't she ever said she know Tokyo better than Okinawa? Sometimes I wonder why she wanted to do it in Okinawa :laugh

Not Fade Away 15th September 2012 01:29 AM

^I think Okinawa just holds a lot of special memories for her. She was born and raised there and held her 15th anniversary (or was it the 14th?) there, so I'm sure it was just a sentimental place for her.

I think it's unfortunate that it was cancelled, but like so many others, I wished they would have moved it to an indoor location.

SunshineSlayer 15th September 2012 03:30 AM

^ I don't know for sure, but I would imagine that Okinawa does not have a large indoor venue. :(

This really sucks though because I was hoping that we would be getting two completely different shows from her this year. Now probably the Dome tour will become a mishmash of what was supposed to happen in Okinawa and whatever they already have planned for the Dome tour.

jean-baptiste 15th September 2012 04:15 AM

I hope it will be a mishmash. Not only because I would like to see what she came up with to perform but also all that hard work of rehearsing would be for nothing.

Pieces_of_SEVEN 15th September 2012 04:26 AM

Gosh, If Okinawa was your motherland would u come back to it on ur speacial day??? It hold every little special thing in a person's memory dun u think?

Back then in 2006 she also came back to Okinawa and wrote a short message to her mother at the end of the LIVESTYLE2006 pamphlet.
The message was:
Quote:

How I wish from the bottom of my heart, that we could have sharedthis 15th anniversary with you by my side, wished that you could have witnessed this memorable performance and experienced the moment together.I will sing and hope that my songs will reach you.
To My Beloved Mother With love...from my heart.
~ R.I.P~

They didn't move to any indoor venue because Okinawa venue was not big enough for 27,000 people, and also the stage design and everything else related to concert would not fit.
I'm really sad it was canceled due to typhoon, but the decision was reasonable.

UHPlus 15th September 2012 06:24 AM

to me, it's just damn plain bad luck. If the typhoon arrived a few days earlier or later, none of this will happen! Damn unlucky it hits exactly on sat and sun.....
*SIGH*

kayokyokufan 15th September 2012 06:51 AM

Maybe it's just me being optimistic but I feel that Namie loves and respects her fans and will try to find a way to make it up to them. It maybe something in the dome tour or it maybe something else but I just feel confident that she will make it up to us.

toniayu 15th September 2012 01:51 PM

^I hope she can do this concert...maybe not the day of the anniversary but some weeks later?Maybe next year?
I hope Namie doesn't feel too sad... u_____u

JackieRos 15th September 2012 03:40 PM

If they reschedule or not that's up to her.
But she doesn't own us anything.

Minttulatte 15th September 2012 04:03 PM

I hope they'll use the amazing stage for Dome Tour. And keep Whisper in the track list because I really need that live in my life. <3
