I need immediate Namie advice, lol. I'm doing a presentation on J-Pop today in Japanese class and I'm debating on if I should show the music video for Damage or Big Boys Cry, thoughts...?

If you want to show a Namie video I'd say show "Hide & Seek", or "WILD" as PVs

Come is like the best Namie song ever. First one I heard way back when I would catch InuYasha from time to time.

Surprisingly, that isn't one of Namie's dirty songs. I don't think she has many. First one that comes to mind is WANT ME, WANT ME. Only Namie can sing a song like that and not cause her career to either take an extreme turn or go down the drain. She's loved too much.

I love Come, it's kinda different, great vibe

My 6-year old sister loooooves Come. Every time we're in the car she'll sing along to it (the whole song, even though she obviously doesn't speak Japanese, so it's this weird almost-Japanglish thing) and then when the chorus comes along she just screams COOOOOOOOOOME MYYYYYYYYYYY WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY. I've seen it a dozen times and it just gets funnier and funnier. :laugh

My mom doesn't like any Jpop, but the only song she'll listen to is Come :laugh
Every time we're in the car, she keeps on bugging me to play Come :yes

Come is the only namie ballad I will ever willingly play.
It's a great electronic ballad, and I always pair it with ami suzuki's bitter

bitter... is good too! But Ami's deep voice sometimes annoys me (although Namie's annoys me just as much).

I was obsessed with Come when I first heard it on InuYasha. It was my favorite of all the ending songs they have used. I found it so dreamy, and the production was fantastic. I love the way Namie sung that song and the composition of the melody/vocals. I am really picky about music, especially songs that tend to "bore" (meaning of Love, beloved, pretty much every single other Namie ballad and most of Ku's album fillers), and Come does anything but bore me. It actually gives me a bit of excitement in my chest while listening to it (but I think that's just due to how much I love the song). I find it beautiful, somewhat mysterious/chilling, and soothing. Of course nostalgia goes along with those feelings now.

COME is amazingly good! It's so atypical, but it works just perfectly!

Oh god one of my fav namie songs is a cover. Granted, she did it better, but still... The question of purity and authenticity is huge for me..

Also when I bought some goods from Namie's official store on facebook they sent the order confirmation email in English to me. However when the order shipped the email they sent was 100% in Japanese.

Contrail was... Not as bad as I'm gonna make it out to be.
First off, congrats to namie's team for composing and arranging such a nice nostalgic tune. I'm definietly gonna play the instrumental.
Now, namie sounds dead bored tired on the song. I know she sells dead, but this isn't sophisticated dead. It's dead dead. Like coffin dead, not living dead. The versus were horrid and make me appreciate other songs I've hated. It feels like I should get rigor mortis from hearing her sing.

Now that that's over, I'm gonna listen to the funky fun BBC and pretend that wonderfully produced dead mess never happened.

Not half bad, at first listen, a pretty ballad-y song, still better than Love Story, which was pretty, but the typical melting ballad. But I'm still thinking that Beautiful is just an amazing jewel and NEED to be in the next album.

I really like those low, airy verses in "Contrail." The chorus, however, is meh.

As far as "Contrail" and "Can You Feel This Love?" are concerned, they sound a lot better than I thought. The songs are nothing to write home about but they are decent. Definitely a step up from her "Uncontrolled" era I'll say. ;)

I've decided that the verses of Contrail really do sound dead, but the pre-chorus/chorus make up for it.

^lol, just her voice mostly. I dunno, it sounds off. I still love the song/vocals - I think it's one of my new favorites of hers - but she definitely sounds like "I'm bored with these people," in the first verse at least.

Sometimes I really think that she's gonna retire.
The whole Midas fiasco + rushing out a new album (even though uncontrolled is still selling) just adds up for me. Someone or something said that namie had a say in the cancelling. Don't know if true or not.

I remember how afraid I was when I saw only about 200-300 (or maybe it was only 100?, can't really tell) people on Gackt's concert in Leipzig/Germany and how scared I was he'll feel offended and cancel the concert XD but he performed with 200% power and made us make up for the missing audience, it was even cooler than Ayu's full Saitama Arena :) Got so much respect for him after that <3

I could see that happening though. I mean...I don't think an artist should do that, but I could see at least Namie's team making that call (not necessarily she, herself though).

Big Bang did something similar to Gackt when they performed in the states - well not nearly the same numbers but - in the fancams for their second NJ performance there was obviously like a whole section of empty seats but it didn't even seem to faze them.

I think Gackt has a lot more control and say than Namie does though. It was likely a management decision. For Gackt its not such a big deal because all he has to do is get himself and his band over there, but with Namie there would be a lot more things involved - all things that cost money.
