The "Alive" PV is actually not that bad, yes it's disappointing and a disgrace to waste such an amazing track (Progress all over again). But it's tastefully done and the special effects looked really cool. I think not showing pictures, but actual footage of her singing the song from the FEEL shoot on the billboards would've been better and actually made it decent. Like she's following you around the city being the queen of Tokyo and shizz.
On the other hand, i don't even mind it.. She shouldn't spoil us more than she already has, our hearts wouldn't be able to take it :P Big Boys Cry sounds so random on this album though haha Quote:
|
Honestly, I feel a bit disappointed :(
Namie has to STOP singing all the songs in English... This album sounds too american generic pop for my taste D: None of the songs are bad, they're all nice, some are actually really good, but the album as a whole becomes a little to much... For me it's not even close as good as Past > Future or PLAY, and I'm not even sure if I can say if it's better than Uncontrolled (as for now, after listening to FEEL as a whole for the first time, I still prefer Uncontrolled over it). But maybe I was expecting too much, I had really high expectations for this album... Oh, well, let's wait and see, I'm not in my best mood right now for some personal reasons and that's probably making me more narrow minded to judge the album, I'll listen to it as a whole again another time and I'll probably have a better opinion about it :) But I have a strong feeling that I'm going to end up enjoying the individual songs more with the time and that's going to make the whole album grow on me... For me Contrail is by far the best song in the album (:heart), I already loved Alive, Big Boys Cry and Hands on Me, I also liked Heaven despite it being so generic, and Let Me Let You Go full is even more beautiful than the preview. For the tracks without PVs I really like Supernatural Love, but the others still have to grow on me. Maybe I should listen to them individually later instead of listening to the whole album to have a better opinion... On the other hand, I actually enjoyed Alive's PV! Just those birds and those flying papers gathering in the air that kind of ruined it a little LOL |
Can anyone make a audio/video digest of this album? I wanna share it so badly hahaha!
gonna start my morning with this album now. it really gets me pumpin' |
I wanted to like Poison and Supernatural love but all I could picture was Koda Kumi instead since they seem like they'd suit her more. The highlights of the album are Alive, Hebo..er Heaven, Contrail and put your hands on me. I think she sounded great in LMLYG .Unfortunately I don't normally look to Namie for ballads so I won't be listening to it much.
I think my biggest issue beyond her incomprehensible repeated attempts at english is the fact that most of the songs are often missing the Namie "cool" factor and could be sung by pretty much anybody with the same result. Maybe the songs will grow on me later but as of now I won't be getting this album. |
^It was probably "I got weaves," since she's been spending all her time snatching them, as of late.

I think I fell in love with Namie for songs like Want Me, Want Me, WoWa, Come, Concentration 20 (Make You Feel Alright), Close Your Eyes Close to Me, Toi et Moi, I Have Never Seen, Break the Rules, Please Smile Again, Never End, Alarm, No, Hide & Seek, Full Moon, Violet Sauce, What a Feeling.....etc.....I could go on, but yeah. What I'm getting at, I guess, is that if people fell in love with those types of songs from Namie, it's probably understandable why this direction of her music is so appealing. A lot of this older material from Namie has elements that can be connected to her more recent music with the dance vibes and slight electro feels. Example: Poison - Hide & Seek - Funky Town - No - Love Game - Unusual Supernatural Love - Defend Love - Dr. - Wild - What a Feeling - Higher Can You Feel This Love - My Love - Lovebite - Copy That - Step With It - Rock Steady I mean even 'Alive' is sort of like what would happen if 'Come' got into a car crash with 'Defend Love' and then landed in a pool full of 'Higher'. Not everyone will agree with the above, which is fine, but I went on a Namie binge today and recognized elements of all of those songs in her newest CD lol. Namie just likes to change her style around. I've never really held that against her and I'm one of the few Namie fans in this thread that actually LOVES her old OLDSCHOOL material from like 1992-2002 (including the Super Monkeys stuff) and has it on repeat most days. The way I see it, it's like: DISCO/TRANCE!NAMIE: 1992-2000 EXPERIMENTAL/SYNTH!NAMIE: 2000-2003 R&B/HIP-POP!NAMIE: 2003-2008 DANCE/POP/ELECTRONICA!NAMIE: 2008-Present There's 4 genres right there. Feel free to choose a time period and enjoy lol. I personally enjoy every style she's done thus far. I can get down to Try Me/Body Feels Exit just as much as I can get down to Supernatural Love/Hands on Me. |
@ Not Fade Away - You are perfect omg. A+ post
Anywayz, I really liked FEEL. It wasn't necessarily on her usual level, but she did really well in this genre, especially for being so experimental. The album as a whole sort of lacks the ~cool~ factor she's relied on for her post-90s career, but the songs aren't bad by any means; just different. She's turned to a more light, happy feeling for this album, and I like it. It's turned out to be a great summer album, especially with tracks like "La La La" and "Stardust In My Eyes." Basically, FEEL's just happy and cute and gr8. Goes from radio-friendly bops to killer club bangers and does damn well at every attempted style. It doesn't have too much originality or replay value, but it's great for what it is. I hope we can get a Winter album with some darker, more "cool" tracks, yes? Also Contrail is still my favourite and I don't even caaaaaare |
03-08 will be my favorite Namie's era (Queen's slowly getting her throne back). I feel like that's when Namie's finally getting back in the game and ready to snatch those weaves, each album is so unique and flawless in their own way. With STYLE, Namie went all R&B and Hip-Pop and showed that she have that gangster side :P, Queen of Hip Pop, Namie showed she can have a ranchy side (with WM, WM), and finally, PLAY... :thud:love:thud b****'s back, FIERCE. PLAY have to be the BEST album ever surfaced the world, pop PERFECTION. Then in 08, she finally got back her throne and once again the Queen :D. BEST FICTION is the best best of album, lol.
I haven't hear any of the album tracks yet, still waiting for my CD, but form all the reviews, everything song sounds flawless. I LOVE Alive!! Already 200+ plays since Friday and I already have 400+ plays for Hands On Me. |

Namie Amuro + Auto-tune = Koda Kumi :innocent |
Love this new album. The songs make me want to get up and dance along with them. Sometimes it takes time to fall in love with an album but with "Feel", one listen is all it takes and i'm already loving it. Namie is truly the Queen. She constantly changes her sound and give us something new. That's what a real artiste should be all about. Experiment with your music and bring something fresh. I'm ALIVE~~~~~
|
I like all songs except Poison. FEEL is definitely my favorite album of the year :heart It's a really happy album. Can You Feel This Love and Stardust In My Eyes make just wanna get up and dance.
|
Namie always makes cuts to her career so I'll respect that and only compare FEEL to PAST<FUTURE and Uncontrolled. I think FEEL is the most cohesive out of them. It does not have weakpoints in that sense but stand alone the tracks on the other two albums are much better. It is better than Uncontrolled tough (Which I love but the albums versions of the three single songs ruined it). P<F is the bets out of them.
|
Love the whole album! My favorites are Heaven, Poison, Alive, and Contrail!
|
i love this album *______________*
i'm thinking about the reason to doing an entire album in english. the last year was for the 20th anniversary and this year? why? |

PS: They could have put "Beautiful" instead of "Let Me Let You Go" ps: I just realized that "It's all about you" fits so well as a rock tune '-' |
Can You Feel This Love is too repetitive, in an annoying way. I'll probably skip this one everytime I listen to the album.
Other than that, FEEL is epic, catchy, flawless, just like I expected. I don't mind the overuse of English at all. My favorite tracks are Poison, Hands On Me and Stardust In My Eyes. La La La is great as well but it's too short :/ And I love her vocals in LMLYG. |
I'm just gonna pretend the Alive PV never happened because holy **** this album so good.
The songs are just amazing. The only song I'm not really a fan of is Can You Feel This Love. Flawless album. Poison, Supernatural Love, La La La :heart :heart |
I like the album a lot, it's full of solid summer tracks. Namie and her team have really tapped into what's popular in the music world right now and I'd be surprised if this album didn't sell a lot. The English doesn't really bother me...I'd say FEEL is probably my second or third favourite Namie album so far. :) It's just so happy and her voice sounds so diverse, but perhaps that's just me.
I do love her R&B/Pop sound as well, and I hope in the future we get a few songs in that style...but I don't mind her new direction either, so either way, I'm pretty happy. @Benikari: Great fanmade cover! Going to use it for a while. :yes |
wasnt there suppose to be a track called Neon Lightlip stick or something?

I have a feeling that there won't be a full version out anytime soon. But maybe she'll perform it in the upcoming tour. Her ESPRIQUE CM songs usually take a pretty long time to be released if it wasn't announced prior to the CM. |
^ Thanks for the correction! It's quite the mouthful :laugh I'm also guessing she'll properly debut the track during her new tour. I'd be surprised if it was a single anytime soon, or at all.

Quote:
LOL am i crazy or what? The La La La rap-like part makes me think of Avril's "Girlfriend" xD Supernatural Love is kind of DR./Wild & k-pop o_O |
The album has been blowing my mind until now, I can't get enough of it...with the exception of Can You Feel This Love maybe lol in the end I didn't care about her Engrish, in fact for me it's like a game of trying to grasp what she's said :laugh
I hope we get to hear Neonlight Lipstick in full, the title is cool. I'm hoping to hear Contrail (Ballad ver.) properly, maybe in the drama soundtrack. And I can't shake the feeling that Stardust In My Eyes could be a great orchestral track if they cut the whole electronic thing and just stick with acoustic orchestra, I really love the strings in that song. |
^ i think the strings is a reason why i love it so much, also it reminds me a lot of this. Actually when i heard it first i thought it would make a great track for Namie lol
|
Quote:
Tbh, I think Beautiful would fit in FEEL just fine. Right after LMLYG would be a nice placement imo. Plus, it's a feel good song, just like how Namie intends the album to me. I'm still wondering why it didn't make it into the album. |
I recall seeing a "beautiful" PV preview in a mu-mo CM promoting the single...I really can't understand why that song isn't on the album :(

I'm really glad most of you seem to enjoy the album. I honestly wish I was one of you! I swear I heard Alive before. I just can't quite put my finger on exactly what song. All I'm hearing is: To make me pee pee pee.
I like the album but I don't think I would be listening to it after a day or two. |
Supernatural Love is SO Kylie Minogue meets Kpop, I love it! I hope she rock the song during the tour (can Î have a mashup between Supernatural Love with Kuu's Dou ni mo Tomaranai? lol).
Poison is the kind of song that I think defines Namie. The album is really solid, each song has her own feel even tho most of the songs are electronic pop. |
Lalala kinda reminds me of Beyonce that meets the disco remix! It's so very nice! And Beautiful would have fit perfectly for me, to help the poor LMLYG too, which is the only slow ballad and it's such a contrast for the rest of the album. Maybe with another song like Beautiful before the abrupt stop in the style wouldn't have been so strindent.
Sometimes in this album I feel like Namie voice is different, not just stronger, but really another thing. Like it's evolving or something. Or maybe it's that she really sounds like she's having a lot of fun singing some tracks! |
Quote:
|
^Same here, when you mentioned Kylie Minogue I also can hear her in Supernatural Love xD and yeah KPop too. I even thought the album's musical direction reminds me of SNSD in Japan.

^*runs off scared*

HQ Blenda scans!
Spoiler:
|
The chorus in Poison really reminds me of something else (probably an American song), but I can't remember what. Anyone else? It's driving me crazy.
|
|
I don't know if I should be excited or scared by that tbh.
|
^^By international does that just mean in Asia?
|
It'll flop harder than Nelly Furtado's latest album, but who cares the song is fire and will slay lives.
I doubt it's like a full-blown single release anyway, but mostly just to give her some more exposure outside Asia. |
I don't like the second and last cover from Blenda. She seems scared and sad.
On other note,I started to apreciate BBC more than before listening to the whole album. |
I'm actually so happy she's releasing Alive internationally. From the beginning of this era I've been saying how she has so much potential to be huge in the US with this album. I think Heaven would've been a better single choice even though I love Alive just as much as Heaven but I'll be so happy if this means I'll be hearing Namie on the radio
|
Quote:
Is it really true though? It seems a bit fake to me. No official sources. |
Quote:
<3 The BLENDA scans |
Not to put anyone down on the whole US thing with Namie, but while I agree that some of the songs have this potential, first problem is her English pronunciation. I can understand her pretty well myself, but most people in North America probably can't. We already saw how much the American media was making fun of her for the bit she did in TLC's Waterfalls. They'd never accept her singing in English if she can't pronounce it properly. I think the only reason people here let it go with celebs like Jackie Chan is you can understand him and people are more so going to see him do martial arts and visual jokes, not listen to him sing.
|
Am I the only one who enjoy La La La the most? I think it's one of her best non-promoted songs EVER. I like how it sounds so laid-back and cool in the same way

The minute she started singing, I was hooked! The verses are so cool and the chorus are so down-to-earth This album just makes me experience so many feels! :laugh |

I thought no one favorite it :laugh I was wrong, I cant stop listening to the song right now, it's just so addictive.
I was surprised I'm not too hooked up to ALIVE, I thought the song would be better if she sing it in a higher key. |
which cover do you use? :)
I use the CD+bluray cover :luv2 |
^Count me in as well, the chorus of La La La is perfection <3
|
I use the CD only cover
That smile is just perfection to the max! |

I've been listening to the album nonstop since yesterday and it just gets better and better. Right now my favourite songs are Poison, Supernatural Love, Hands On Me, Heaven and Stardust In My Eyes.
|
Daaaaamn, there are some sick dance tracks on this album. I wish I could hear songs like Hands on Me at the club. I would go crazy.
This album is so Western. It's hard to say where I'll end up ranking it, but for now, it's HOT. |
FEEL official lyrics!

La La La is :heart It's one of my favorites on the album.
And I love how it goes together with Heaven with that one little line. Such a happy album~ |
The 3rd picture from the BLENDA magazine is gorgeous and the 2nd is nice, but I can't bring myself to like the other two pics...
Quote:
Going to listen to the album as a whole today again and see if my opinion changes... |
There's about 5 songs that "Japanese" lyrics, so you guys should be happy, lol. (My CD's still in process of shipping :( this is my first time that I didn't listen to the leak or seen any of the unreleased PV yet.)
|
No wonder I can loop this album for hours and it all feels so right
In Stardust In My Eyes, the lyrics are "wake up in the morning and the sun goes down" In Alive, the lyrics are "save me when the sun goes down" THIS ALBUM NEVER ENDS! :thud |
Would it be alright with you all if i did the new thread? I don't know if i should wait though cause all the other threads got to page 26.

man I swear i heard Rainbow somewhere....lol but i really enjoy the songs we didn't hear, except for Alive, that song goes NOWHERE to me, oh and Heaven- same..
And surprisingly her English is quite fine in teh rest! |

I thought theres supposed to be 500 posts before a new thread?.....
And i dunno if i should even read the lyrics or not.... :( I just want so much of this to be a total surprise for when my copy gets here.... :D |
Oh yay, i'll wait until the 500th post then :D
|
As usual, the photobook is barren
Let me do this for OCD people's sake: The languages sung in each song, showing the percentage of English and/or Japanese per song. Correct me if I'm wrong. Poison kinda seemed 50/50 though. Spoiler:
|
this albums not bad but i think all the songs would be so much better if it was sung in Japanese with a few English phrases here and there.:innocent
|
Honestly, those 5% or 10% of Japanese are almost the same as nothing, they're almost unnoticed in the middle of +90% of English...
|
woah...supernatural love DOES feel like a koda song.
I just heard it lol weird. I agree with whoever said something about the koda vocals on that song. At first I wasn't sure...but at the end...yeah. Stardust <3 I don't think I ever listenened to BBC before the album. I love the flute so much, but the song is just a little...idk ghetto beyonce meh for me. Like, cause I never like any of her songs, but I think they're okay songs. |
I also feel that namie has lost her sass even her lyrics are not sexual and mature. when you look at her lyrics from her queen of hip pop, play, and some songs from past future she had some pretty clever and cool lyrics now its sounds pretty average and a bit kiddish
|
Oh god i can't at how much engrish i got wrong in Hands On Me, i thought she sang "I know why, i feel enticed" turns out she's singing "Allure, appeal, entice" LOL. Well, i got one word right at least :P

Hmmm I might consider buying the album now, it's better than I expected !! |
I'm seriously unable to listen to anything but FEEL right now, every time i shuffle my iTunes and it plays anything other than Namie i'm like "who are you?" :laugh

FEEL is so much better than I expected. Idec about how much English/Engrish there is anymore.
CDJapan have shipped my copy too ahhhh :D |
