While I guess I was the only person who thought Is This Trap? was amazing (there is a part that she sings "Uh oh~" and its so sexy and coy it kills me), Dreaming Now sounds promising, but as someone said, possibly generic. Bring It On sounded more fun to me.

Damn, she looks stunning! Very clean and classy, reminds me of her Universe era.
The song doesn't seem to do anything for me so far, it's too ordinary and Kuu's had much better songs in this style.

Cover is slaying me though.

That cover is amazing. Holy. Damn, Kuu. But, most of her pictures slay me, so why am I surprised.

The song is generic as hell, but still really enjoyable. The other two J-Pop divas of Avex are doing this sound, so why can't Kuu?

Actually, Ayu, Namie and now Kuu have sported the high fashion look very recently, and all have very North American trance-inspired songs that have either been released or are coming out. If all three of them collaborated they could put out some serious avant garde electropop crap. It would be amazing. Also, I blame Gaga for this trend :laugh

Generally i've found the singles from this era to be consistently good, but not great. There hasn't been a song i really loved and played to death like i did with Love Me Back and Poppin' Love Cocktail from Japonesque.

Go To The Top was too rocky for my liking, Koishikute was really pretty but also a very "by the book" ballad. Summer Trip was the best simply cause it had more songs and more for me to play, but still i feel like they could have done so much more to the songs to make them better. Is This Trap? had so much potential but ended up a little flat.

I'm hoping they will sound better together as an album, and that the new songs will be great cause i'm not that excited for this era in all honesty. She's killed me with all her photoshoots though, they have been some of her best in years!

^I feel the same about her photoshoots. Ironically, I've found most of the outfits from this era really tacky. The Go to the top ones were messy as hell, and the gangsta style on the Summer Trip events weren't my cup of tea either. She only got me at the Color the Cover perfomances.

Music-wise, she's been playing safe so far. Go to the top was a bit out of her zone, but it was pretty generic for a Japanese release. Koishikute... Well, lol. Summer Trip was a bit bland as well, TOUCH DOWN probably being the most different song from hers in a while. On the other hand, I've enjoyed all songs so far, which is rare, since there's always that one a-side I hate to death. We may not end up getting a mind-blowing amazing new album, but I feel that, at least, it'll be a consistent one.

For now, gotta wait for the PV and CD Only cover to decide on which version to get.

^I haven't been following her tour outfits and such but i can see that the reception hasn't exactly been great lol. I personally liked most of the covers, Summer Trip was hot but in a messy tramp kinda way and i loved the GTTP covers.

And yeah i agree completely with your statement, safe is the word i was looking for. But Kuu's always been pretty damn safe and released the same over and over again, however that's one of things i love about her, you know what to expect. The problem right now is just that they aren't up to par with her songs in the same style, she can do better. The albums seems to be decent so far tho, nothing spectacular but really enjoyable.

With that said, i need her to drop something like Ecstasy again. That song was A+ hotness and never gets old, it was such a cool mixture of genres.

This is more or less how I feel. She's had some very good songs since her comeback, but nothing amazing yet. I can't even remember the last time I got the urge to listen to GTTT or Koishikute, and even Summer Trip didn't get the usual ridiculous amount of listens out of me that her summer singles get. :( Though JAPONESQUE and 4TIMES and everything else have been consistently in my rotation, lol.

Dreaming Now sounds, yeah, generic. Not bad, but... forgettable.

The outfits I meant were for the TV and summer lives :P For the covers photoshooting they were really good, Go to the top may even be among my favorite shoots of hers, even if it's just her FACE WITH RED STRIPED ALL OVER it was pretty well done and she looked beautiful.

Actually I wouldn't call Kuu's releases for this album cycle safe. Not entirely.
Go To The Top was dubstep, something new and it was her "comeback" single, where everybody expected a ballad. Koishikute surely was and with Summer Trip she had a mix of old formula (LaLaLaLaLa) and something new (Touchdown). Is This Trap? and Dreaming Now! sound very, very western. I mean, her songs always had somethin western to them, but those are somehow different than before.
It will be interesting to see how they want to combine the more japanese sounding stuff like GTTT and Koishikute with the more western sounding in the album.
And how many ballads will be there? For now we just have one. And with Bring it on now to be expected on the album... I'd love another album with less ballads!

'Dreaming Now' doesn't grab me at all. It sounds rehashed in a way. :(

This whole era of hers leaves me wanting more. Everything sounds stale and doesn't deliver. I've haven't felt such disconnect in this many consecutive releases from Kuu, single wise, since her "feel my mind" days.

I just hope her next album will deliver as a whole. :yes

The new single cover doesn't give me anything, but I can't really say anything about it. I mean, it's a pretty picture, and Kuu is hot as hell -as always- but it still doesn't feel like a single cover at all. More like a magazine shoot pic. If I even make any sense, lol. (Maybe I just need a title, somewhere.)
Preview, instead, feels amazing! It has all the potential, and IT'S NOT A BALLAD, YUHUUU!!! (sorry, I'm just so happy, lol)

And, on a different note, even if I don't like some singles, I never get worked up, because I learned long ago that for me Kuu is an album woman. I used to skip amazing stuff like Love Me Back when it was released as a single, but as soon as I heard it again in JAPONESQUE I was immediately hooked. And even if I really dislike a song, it's always more enjoyable in the album anyway (like Suki De X 3. Still hate it, but I can refrain from skipping in Dejavu because it kind of flows with the rest). She just has these nice tracklists for her albums.

I agree that its not the best cover in the world, I was expecting more for her birthday single. Maybe because I loved the Summer Trip covers sooooo much. However, ayu_ready? makes a good point that it is quite different from all her covers, and I can appreciate that. I do think its a hot picture. Hot as hell, really.

I think this cover is super hot. One of her best where not only is the look great, but her face is stunning. Summer Trip had her face looking jacked up. This look is so polished and modern.

I used to be so annoyed by the fact but because it makes me smile, I just can't stop loving it. I agree, the fact that it looks like a magazine cover doesn't bother me at all. I can't think of anything to put on the cover to relate it to the theme of the song. Like in TABOO's case, it was just plain white background but it was one awesome cover.
