EDIT 4/24: Okay, hang on a second... I'm part of the Room Ayaka fanclub, and I'm told Ayaka's going to release a 10th anniversary BEST ALBUM in July (7/13, to be exact)...

I heard they're going to release a version with a USB memory stick! Not sure I'd pay ~$70 for that, though, and I'm still planning to renew my Room Ayaka membership...

Yesterday I started mumbling the lyrics of "Mikazuki" all of a sudden, I guess I should listen to her stuff more often in preparation for the new BEST :yes

I know I'm late but I just wanted to say that this is an adorable picture! :heart

1. I used Tenso to sign up for Room Ayaka (note I reside in the Seattle area, actually, in current physical location). My BECU debit card was somehow accepted. (I just renewed yesterday.)

2. The USB version...that is not a fanclub exclusive, but a mu-mo shop exclusive (it is available to non-fanclub members as well). There is a bonus for Room Ayaka members ordering the album (including the non-USB versions), which is an original Ayaka mousepad. Hopefully it's the Ayaka icon we've been familiar with for the past several years or so (since 2010!).

I do have to agree with what Karen said on the hair. I really miss her long hair way too long! It was 2012 the last time she had long hair, and since then, she has been having this short hair...

I think short hair works for her, just not that particular cut. The parting, the set of the bangs, and the way she always has half of it tucked behind her ear misshapes her face. It looks puffier and makes like it seem like she has HUGE ears. I mean, obviously she loves this style or she wouldn't have kept it so long so I really shouldn't be saying anything about it, but she should play around with other types of styling for that length to find something a little more flattering for her facial structure.

That said, I do love everything else about the picture.

Yeah, 3,500 yen is pretty cheap for a 3CD+DVD. I mean, what was the price of the CD+DVD version of M(A)DE IN JAPAN (Ayu)...?

This makes me think...why am I spending 7,800 yen (7,300 yen including tax, plus 500 yen shipping to Tenso, and does not even include the Tenso shipping to home) just to buy an album that costs 3,500 yen??? Oh wait, it has that USB stick... I have to wonder how many gigabytes is that USB flash drive, but for sure I can know it has short acapella of "I believe" and "Mikazuki", which I think that's a bit disappointing, but at least that USB flash drive can be quite handy.

Oh yeah, I bought what I call (in NVIDIA terms, especially the GTX 1070/1080 graphics cards) the "Founders Edition" that is customized with MY NAME on the packaging and could only be pre-ordered until mid-May, and I pre-ordered it back in April... :P (it is the 3CD+DVD version nonetheless)

Other artistes/musicians wrote messages in congratulating ayaka's 10th anniversary such as her good buddies Kobukuro

#4 seems too low for such an album. My mind is thinking that it contains too much 'recycled' songs (particularly from the 'old Ayaka' era), and the fact that she ONLY had three singles (YIKES! They were not even ranked good back then) and two studio albums (don't count that cover album)...I was thinking: Does this even have potential?

Even then, someone on the Kanayan forum said this:

Yeah, I have to agree why in the world this could happen. I don't understand why... I mean, "The beginning" was a big hit, but what happened with all that mojo since then?

And don't let me talk about the online music streaming services yet...

The reason why The beginning sold well at the time of release was because it was ayaka's comeback album as prior to that , it was uncertain if she were to make her return to the music business due to her health problems

Also the way that Warner marketed her (making her churning out singles during 2006 - 2009) & now with her being her own boss is very different

If not how you explain why her discography is considered 'short' / 'small' even though this year's her 10th anniversary in the business ?

After she released Nijiiro which was her last physical CD single release in 2014 , she released a string of songs digitally which probably hurt her popularity/sales to a certain extent

Anyway to say THIS IS ME ~ayaka 10th anniversary BEST~ is a 'useless' release is wrong as not every artiste is lucky to sustain him/herself in the business for so long , likewise 10 years felt like an eternity to some

But I think if Warner didn't release 2 best albums of ayaka before she went indie , sales would have been better . ayaka's History 2006-2009 was a rush release & way too soon for something like that to get put out but at that time , nobody know if ayaka will be back or not

Besides sales are just 1 thing & physical CD sales are not profitable as before . She's still able to perform in big concert venues & let alone Nippon Budokan

But if you don't buy ayaka's past best albums , then THIS IS ME ~ayaka 10th anniversary BEST~ is worth getting , be it the price and/or content . And frankly she should include all of her material from her Warner to her now indie days

Which for that I suspect ayaka paid a substantial amount of $ to get the rights to her Warner discography because if that did not happen , the material in THIS IS ME ~ayaka 10th anniversary BEST~ would be a lot lesser

At least ayaka's best album is not like Yamapi where his 1st best album did NOT include his solo material before he switched to Warner and for that , I felt insulted as a fan as it felt as though he abandoned what he released when he was still under Johnny's Entertainment before he went over to Warner which annoyed me a lot :irked

Have to agree with those words, this is not the Warner days - remember: A stAtion is Ayaka's OWN label, though Avex is responsible for marketing. But where's the marketing material on mu-mo or the Avex website??? Umm...

Okay, maybe #1 is out of the question, but #2 may not be. She's #4, so we have no idea what her numbers are, but if she's THAT CLOSE to #3 - and #3 is THAT CLOSE to #2 (see picture below) - then she might have a chance for #2! But yeah, we're now into the digital era, and it seems Oricon is favoring more that are Johnny's (which does NOT release full songs digitally AT ALL, or if I'm wrong, maybe a little) and AKB48/Nogizaka46 (okay, they do release them digitally, but it's those handshake tickets and AKB48 election votes that jack up the sales numbers) (and a little bit of an extent to EXILE/JSB as well) these days. Remember: 2006, 2009 and 2016 are NOT the same, even though the technologies have been evolving! We didn't have iPhones or Android smartphones back in 2006, and even then, in 2009, iPhones and Androids started to appear slowly in Japan...now what do we have? AWA Music, LINE, all sorts of stuff that offer digital music streaming in Japan, not to forget mentioning Japan's domestic Recochoku service and the worldwide iTunes?

I'm a bit disappointed with the sales numbers physically, but again, I do have to agree what Karen has to say with the declining physical sales that not just Ayaka, but almost all artists (save for the Johnny's and AKB), are suffering as more people are starting to go digital, although there is a reason why some people still buy physical CDs. But yeah...it's still impressive she can perform in such big venues, like the Budokan, these days!

I don't think marketing is the problem here as already before THIS IS ME ~ayaka 10th anniversary BEST~ was released , ayaka went on numerous radio stations to promote it

Also if you don't know for the longest time , Johnnys has NEVER released their music on online sites , except when Johnnys leave the agency then they list their music (INKT , Akanishi Jin , ONE OK ROCK)

End of the day if you look at the big picture , sales is 1 thing . ayaka still is able to do tours & from what I've seen , she always tend to sell most if not all dates out & if she's able to perform in Nippon Budokan of all places , then there's no cause to worry about so excessively

Ugh. Dorikamu #2, feared about that. Especially when we have no idea on day 1 sales since she started off the day #4...but I'll accept it. Top three nonetheless. But... Just imagine... How ONE DAY can really affect the Oricon weekly sales...

If Ayaka had sold more, then she could've gotten #2! Dorikamu is a NIGHTMARE for some artists... They did this to Ayu for #1 last year, and now #2 for Ayaka this year (no intent to compete with Kanayan nonetheless, but still, it stinks) (>_<)

Sunday sales (last day counted) - Just one day... Sunday...how could Ayaka mess up on that LAST DAY!? (I mean, what is this? Final round of a major golf tournament, and you lose the lead and a major championship?)

ayaka's dress sense was better in the past . She looked youthful & bohemian chic during the early days when she debuted

Now after she return back after her health problems became in control , she dressed like 10 years older than her actual age which's not a good thing :no

I know she's a mum now but it doesn't mean she shouldn't dress so frumpy or maybe she rather people focus on her voice/singing & not what she wears ?

Seems that now ayaka's choice of clothing staple is cardigan over dress -_-

I finally listened to the new songs and versions of THIS IS ME. The title song is very pretty but I'm not fond Ambition. The arrangement isn't bad but I feel like Ayaka's voice could have been more powerful and convey more feelings.
I'm not a fan of I believe 2016 version because I find it too heavy. Mikazuki 2016 version is beautiful.
