Oh thanks! I missed it. That track should be fun!

Matt_rq 4th December 2014 08:03 PM

I think this cd is really good promotion for ayumi itself, so I´m happy about it. I love hikki and I know japanese people will buy this cd for sure.

douggn 5th December 2014 09:19 AM

you can hear previews on the JP itunes for SAKURA drops, FINAL DISTANCE, Letters and
Keep Tryin ', so far its a swing and a miss with me for these songs. SAKURA drops sounds like a bad salsa remix, and if you like FINAL DISTANCE, keep to Hikaru's version, Al lacks the emotion to pull the song off
My overall feel of the album now is, if you like hikaru and buying this because you like hikaru, then you might as well save the cringing of these artist trying too pull off her songs and just make an album with her tracks to make your own cd. Though still got hopes for ayus cover

Erikku 5th December 2014 11:36 AM

We could just hear a preview of Ayu's cover on Music Station, my friend twittered about it. I hope someone uploads it soon.

maxikot 5th December 2014 12:30 PM

Wow, it's great :o i must say that original song by utada studio version is really so so for me, when she does it live i adore the song then. Studio version aby Ayu sounds really good on the other hand.

ExodusUK 5th December 2014 12:31 PM

For some reason it reminds me of Depend On You..if it was produced today by RedOne.

njanjayrp 5th December 2014 12:33 PM

This actually sounds good.

Larisa-chan 5th December 2014 12:41 PM

Ohhhh it sounds really cool from the preview!!!

chocopockymaster 5th December 2014 12:53 PM

Oh my god it sounds FANTASTIC!!! Can't wait until we get the full ver in a few days!

tenshi no hane 5th December 2014 12:56 PM

I like it! I like the way she sings "ii onna..". The English part sounds good too.

chocopockymaster 5th December 2014 01:05 PM

omg LOOOOOL I just noticed all of the guests on MSta completely boppin' to the preview :laugh I have a feeling her cover is going to go over really, REALLY well with listeners.

~Matt~ 5th December 2014 01:05 PM

It sounds a little screechy at the higher notes (ii ONna enJIru no wa...) but I guess I can deal with it

stickyrice 5th December 2014 01:05 PM

Well colour me surprised! That actually sounds *really* good!

That's sounds nice! I know it's not as I expected (rock) but it sounds fun!

Gustavopc 5th December 2014 01:16 PM

Her voice does reminds me of her old days, screechy but not in bad way :laugh It sounds good, more interesting than the original arregement

tsumekaze_ 5th December 2014 01:21 PM

Love it, the english part is AWESOME. seems that she really brought new life to movin on without you which i despised.

rookies 5th December 2014 01:26 PM

The preview sounds really good! Wow! I need full version soon. :yes

freedreamer 5th December 2014 01:29 PM

IT IS AMAZING!!! omg gonna be my jam when it comes up

THERE'S A LONGER VERSION ON FOR"A"VER FB PAGE!!! IT'S SO AWESOME

stivenoto 5th December 2014 01:31 PM

From the preview. I really love ayu's version... Her english also good... can't wait for the full version in few days.

mecury2511 5th December 2014 01:45 PM

I don't know if there is anyone like me, at first when listen to the original one by Utada, I have no interest in it, it's so bored and plain to me, but after hearing ayu cover, I am in love with that song. LOL, how bias I were!!

attractive nausea 5th December 2014 01:47 PM

In the longer preview, when she starts with "i'm moving on" i thought it was a man singing omg
But i love it though

xLuna&1LOVE 5th December 2014 01:50 PM

sounds good

Pieces_of_SEVEN 5th December 2014 01:54 PM

Yaass bitch weeeeerrrkkk...

Ayu didn't ruin one of my favorite hikki songs and I'm so proud lol. It actually sounds really great so far. I've been listening to this song so much lately because I missed hikki's music. So I'm so beyond happy to have an ayu cover of one of my favs.

BlackSilence 5th December 2014 04:49 PM

the song itself wasn't very good, this is nothing spectacular, it's somewhat Colour-esque, she sounds nice though.

ayumisrael 5th December 2014 05:02 PM

I think ayu's version might make the sound more interesting lol.
She might make the song great. Better than hikki's version but I'm waiting for the full thing.

For me, movin on without you and FD are already way better than the originals!

Yayyyy something that I can dance to!

TheRainbow 5th December 2014 05:30 PM

I like it!

Delicious n Bold 5th December 2014 05:37 PM

Ayu really does sound like a chipmunk on the song lol. I really like it, she's really challenging the 90s JTrash and sounding like a hot mess on a hot mess song.

Maemi 5th December 2014 05:43 PM

^ I actually think that her voice sounds very clear which is surprising in a good way.

jbrat2219 5th December 2014 06:05 PM

She sounds fantastic! I've never had an interest in Hikki's music with the exception of one or two songs, but this cover actually makes her music sound listenable! Job well done, ayu! I had my doubts.

orangeakira 5th December 2014 06:09 PM

Damn that is an amazing cover. It's so dancey. I can't wait for the full version.

Ayumi Romania 5th December 2014 06:21 PM

Wow, I love it!

Yoake 5th December 2014 06:32 PM

The preview sounds better than what I thought. However I'm not excited because it reminds me colour's edm songs a lot. The previews were nice but the full songs were disappointing. So, I'll wait for the full song before to be glad and to avoid the disillusionment. It seems that her voice is very altered once again. I wish they drop this method. It's useless to create song she won't be able to sing in live decently.

Pieces_of_SEVEN 5th December 2014 06:33 PM

I think that BECAUSE it is EDM style like Colours is the reason that I'm loving it so much.

Yeah gives the song a refreshing feel.

chocopockymaster 5th December 2014 06:47 PM

I'm seriously digging the beat when she sings, "Nothing's gonna stop me, only you can stop me", etc. :luv2

perfectodub 5th December 2014 07:20 PM

is that auto-tone in your lips young lady?! XD
btw i love the results!.. cause i love dance music.

Zeke. 5th December 2014 07:23 PM

I disliked the deliverance of practically everything on CoLOURS, but this I am extremely happy about. If colors sounded anything like this I would've loved it. It really doesn't sound too western to me, it very much sounds like a 21st century danceable, uplifting and somewhat euphoric JPOP party song. I could see boa singing this, as her latest tracks have been danceable and uplifting jpop song too. I'm sooo happy with Ayus voice. Even if it is edited, it suits the product so well.

Didz-19 5th December 2014 09:36 PM

I can feel some attitute in Ayu when she sing "Movin' on without you"!!!

koumori 5th December 2014 10:33 PM

Ayu's cover makes me really nostalgic... both the way she sings it and because it's Movin' On Without You. Really happy with what I've heard so far :heart

JackieRos 5th December 2014 11:22 PM

The song doesn't fit ayu at all, I think she tries too hard to fit her voice to it.
When she says "I'm moving on without you" it sounds like a male voice.

No ayu :no

Not to me, her low hoice sounds beautiful and powerful and absolutely feminine.

DonkeyKongRemix 6th December 2014 12:51 AM

Am I just biased or does Ayu's cover sound better than everyone else's? I don't even mean that as a burn to any of the others (I think a lot of the other singers sound great!). BUT SERIOUSLY. Her vocals are AWESOME!!

WEEEEE!!!!!!! This is the best distraction from studying for finals!!!! XD

Pieces_of_SEVEN 6th December 2014 01:06 AM

^^It's probably a little bit of bias, and a little bit of truth! Either way, I agree! This, and FINAL DISTANCE are my favorites so far. Spectacular.

adantatu2 6th December 2014 01:23 AM

I tried Utada's music before, and it wasn't very interesting for me, I only like her last song for Evangelion. Now with the covers I'm falling in love. Movin on..... is amazing

ayumint 6th December 2014 02:04 AM

I really loved it, Ayu is excellent for choosing what to sing by her own decision ♡♡♡Can't wait to get its full version
When i heard "Movin'on without you" part, it was still Ayu's voice but just edited.

THIS THIS THIS, SO MUCH THIS. Japanese-style melodies with more western-style production have always been what my favorite J-pop has been. Melodies in Japan lately are far too western - if not mimicking the style, then actually written by western pop songwriters, and the feeling is just GONE, you know? But this, this track right here, this is my JAM right now. This is what J-pop should sound like all the time right now!

*listens to the preview again*

emi♡ 6th December 2014 06:30 AM

yessssss

this actually reminds me of like, a slightly more modern version of her glory days remixes <3

Deep snow 6th December 2014 06:45 AM

THE PREVIEW IS FANTASTIC OMG (Probably because I hate the original so things can only look up). Is it just me or does it sound a liiittle too polished? Is it possible that's a tad too much autotune?

~kashifaita~ 6th December 2014 06:50 AM

THE PREVIEW JUST SLAYED ME. I am TOTALLY digging this omfg.
Shiina Ringo does a fantastic job on Letters too, imo!

Violently Happy 6th December 2014 06:57 AM

I love the preview for Ayu's!!!! I'll be able to dance to both Hikki's and Ayu's versions! Movin' On Without You is one of my favorite Hikki tracks, and me and my mom always blast it in the car! XD

BlackSilence 6th December 2014 08:30 AM

i am still weirded out by tis whole thing. I would be weirded out if they did an Ayu tribute too. Like, she's not dead and still active.... WHY? lol Also if they wanted to do it so much why not to chose younger singers who are just starting their careers? Cuz this is a bit odd. i know they are friends and stuff but.... i dunno it just doesn't make much sense to me lol

It's just her (or better, for her) 15th Anniversary project I think and it makes sense if you see this album as a tribute to her career from the big names of JPOP history still active. Anyway, I didn't like Movin' out without you. I think it was boring... but Ayu's version seems amazing and really fun to dance as much as XOXO or Feel the love (not Lelio, Lelio is perfection u.u)

Yes, it does sound very polished, but if you listen to Snowy kiss or Lelio for example, it's the same. I think times of light editing are gone for good.

jiarongisme 6th December 2014 11:53 AM

UGH it sounds so good! Can't wait for the full song!!

chocopockymaster 6th December 2014 12:22 PM

Maybe if Utada wasn't on hiatus the cover album wouldn't be a thing. 15th anniversaries are all the rage nowadays and it would be silly to NOT acknowledge hers in some way...but it's kind of hard to do that when she's hiding out in Europe somewhere with her Italian bartender husband and not doing any activities :P

andycruize 6th December 2014 02:47 PM

Just hear movin' on without u ayu version, aaaand it's sound AMAZING!! So people love so much about ayu cover 1 of utada song, and that's mean people will fall so deep in love if utada write a song for ayumi right? I hope both of them do a collaboration for the next ayu single or album. I wish :)

Coelacanth 6th December 2014 02:54 PM

lmao what alternate universe am I in? I mean, the production certainly breathes new life into the song, but the melody is still god awful. The "ii onna enjiru" part of the melody sounds so incredibly dissonant it actually makes me wince, regardless of whether it's Utada OR Ayu singing it.

This, uh, doesn't touch ANYTHING on Colours. Also confirms my suspicions that most Ayu fans have very.. different tastes in pop music, to say the least.

Was Utada 10 years old when she wrote the lyrics to this song, btw? Jesus.

Ayu is 36 and STILL writing lyrics like this.

Anyway, the production is more polished than XOXO for damn sure. I'm really picky about melodies and I feel they did a great job transforming the song. The original melody sounded drab to me and I wondered how they could ever make it sound good, but I think the problem was that Hikkis version didn't have much going on OTHER than the melody during the chorus. It was just like a light dry and soft techno-esque beat. Ayus version uplifts the melody by adding in more harmonization, which works wonders.

I know it's based off the preview but Lelio is really the only other track that can hold a candle to this. Terminal needs more voice editing, Angel needed an entirely different vocalist (actually, no matter who was to sing that chorus would've still sounded like a whiny moaning bitch).

Also, I'm kinda regretting listening to the preview cause it's constantly on loop inside my brain.

Really? You can tell that much about the production and how it compares to XOXO from a 15 second clip recorded from a TV?

Kind of what I was thinking! XD

This forum really goes to show that people have VERY different tastes than each other! For me, I'm entirely optimistic about this whole project! Everything so far is great to me! (Even though that Sakura Drops cover was so far...I don't know... a little underwhelming? XD)

XOXOs synths kind of took a back seat. It was like the arrangement was muffled. In this track, the arrangement is more in your face and at the forefront while not entirely stealing the show away from the vocal melody.

Delirium-Zer0 7th December 2014 12:05 AM

XOXO was just way too... chirpy, if anyone knows what i mean. It was tinny and overcompressed - the bass on "Movin' on" sounds much more solid.

maururu-roa 7th December 2014 12:40 AM

This is definitely interesting. It sounds like an ayu song, the only thing I'm concerned about is that it sounds a bit overprocessed, but I have to hear the full song in good quality to say for sure. Final Distance is good, Sakura Drops is like flamenco-enka something lol, I really like it!! :D Shiina Ringo sounds like a vocaloid, very bad..... I want to listen to the whole album!! :luv2:luv2

maxikot 7th December 2014 01:30 AM

yeah, hikki melodies are really mellow. I think that makes her music boring for some people, but I like the contrasts.

and idk, I don't see it too risky for her to perform it! It would be really cool to see. I hope she'll be bold and sing it :D

it is Salsa, a latin american rythm (so old like rock n roll)
popular in the whole continent, the guys that make the Sakura cover
are "La banda de la Luz" a japanese salsa band very famous in south american and caribe.

There's difference between covers which were her original idea and this one. Yes, she chose the song herself, but she wasn't the one who decided to cover Hikki's song, she just kindly accepted this offer.

tsumekaze_ 7th December 2014 01:39 PM

^ I don't see what kind of difference it makes... I mean, I see your point, but if she accepted it it means that she wants to sing it so why not perform it. It's a cover like the others after all, I believe that the story behind it doesn't really matter. Just my opinion though ^^

AyuWorld 8th December 2014 03:43 AM

Damn she killed it!!! *_* cant stop playing it from last nite hahah

yes she sounded like her debut day but in a good way! really clean and clear her voice! and I love the bass sounded neat!

so far I love AI and Ayu covers for the songs!
