The only interesting bit was when someone asked if she’s good friends with Kuu (Koda Kumi). She said yes. Apparently Kuu called her the other day saying “I can’t get a reservation at this restaurant but you probably could if you asked for me”, so Ayu called the restaurant again for her and it worked lol (“I’m a good senpai, right?”)

You could kind of tell she didn't want to do it? There was this air of "Only 10 minutes left until this is over." |
Did anyone happen to record it? I woke up half way through lol

She said she wants to do Asia tour and they fully intended on it, but unfortunately things came up and it wasn’t possible. And they don’t know what’s in store regarding it next. (Something along these lines)
|
I record it, I will upload it if anyone want to see it.

I don’t think she gave a definite answer, it was kind of vague. She basically left it off with “I want to do it”, if I’m recalling correctly. Everything happened so fast lol. |
There was kind of a theme of not commiting to anything, since it might not be up to her.
I just remembered that a staff member was like "Talk about the new album." and she was like "Nope." So it actually was supposed to be promotion, but it seems they didn't actually properly talk that out beforehand, nor did they teach her how all this works. It's kind of amazing that the happy-smiley Countdown Live 2022-2023 Encore person and this YouTube Live person are the same person. lol She gave off kind of a weird energy. |

This must be approved by Avex for sure, as there are not in a very good economical stage. If you are moving everything to an Asia tour, there must be profitable and fill the stadium. Do you think that she could do a sould out? I hope so!!! 🙏🏽 |

she also said that relations between countries also may affect the possibility of her coming to the country. |
some fans received the album and the booklet is amazing.

Hi,
As anyone ordered it from Europe ? In the past (up until 2016 so ;) ), I ordered Ayu's albums on yesasia but now with the no longer free shipping costs and the customs it's making the album there quite expensive. For Dreamcatcher Kpop albums I'm going through some French local stores but they do not sell Ayu's albums. Does anyone know a good store in Europe where I could avoid customs ? Thanks, Vincent |

I can happily say that, despite the few new songs, Remember you is a very classic Ayu ballad, and probably her best in quite a long time (for me). My friend mentioned that Vibees sounds like Britney’s Clumsy and now I can’t un-hear it hahah. But I like it, particularly the ending “come on boys”. |
I will receive the CD+DVD from cdjapan but is not my favorite cover and the original card is the same cover so not very happy. The booklet have 2 pics of her only, but the pics are cool, she have better photos to use as a cover. Anyway I hope the album sounds good.

Yes only care abt 2 questions
1.ASIA TOUR 2.Remember you is the last album or not |

taskinson is such a great track. It needs a longer version OR an introduction to INSPIRE/Don't look back in concert ! The oriental vibe is sooo great.
I'm listening to the album, so far so good, the remastering is a good surprise it gives another approach to the songs (dreamed a dream and 23rd monster are far more pleasant to hear). |

I was up with a teething toddler so only caught part of the stream and haven't listened to the album. Plan to do so today!
The stream was alright but I wish they had laid out more of a plan or schedule. I was hoping it would be like the kpop pre-release parties where they show the album contents, explain a little about the song backstories etc. I sent a chat that didn't get read out loud but some people dropped serious cash (like $100+) and were also ignored so I don't feel bad about it haha If she does them again in a few months I hope they have a plan for how the stream will go and what it will cover. It was kind of funny with Max & ayu looking like grandparents working out facetime. There was also Max's cat in the background, and the dogs are getting smaller. Lends possibility to my "ayu became a cat person" theory :P |

Regarding the photo book, it kinda feels like a free TA magazine outside of the new shots, but the new shots are beautiful. |
I loved this album, Ive been a fan of all its singles, especially DaD back in 2021 when I rediscovered it. Despide the poor booklet, the photobook looks amazing tho.. I felt this superhero vibe on her when using that purple outfit on that rooftop.
It's kinda sad but somehow predictable what I read about the YT Live thing.. Unfortunately I couldn't watch, is anybody with this problem too? :\ |
all the mess and campiness tell me that ayu is as real as she gets. nothing is "pre-planned"; everything is as she feels like doing at the moment, I admire that of her and obviously she's in a position where she can afford to this so good for her.
for me, I try not to get hyped by any external "promotions" because everything is pre-planned anyway, including questions and answers. i am excited about the album and ayu is one of the last few artists i have offline copies of the music rather than relying completely on Spotify |
i have finally played the whole album from the start to the end and i must say this album is SOLID. i might need a little more time for VIBEES (sounds like a new B&D)! particularly in love with Remember you.
|
Okay I listened to the album, the Nonfiction remix slaps and I love the interludes and VIBEES. That one's going to be a concert track for sure. Listening in order to the album, it feels like a NEXT LEVEL throwback to have Just the way you are at the end, kind of like Curtain Call.
It does feel weird having 23rd Monster on an album dropping a few weeks before her 25th anni (plus Haru yo, koi and Ohia no ki) but I was thinking about how ayu earlier in her career protested against A BEST and re-recorded songs to give value to the compilation. Maybe she still feels like that, reducing the exclusivity of tracks by putting them on additional releases? Another couple of things I remembered from the stream were when someone was spamming "YOUは何しに日本へ?" (Why did you come to Japan?) which is the title of a TV Show. Ayu actually read this one out loud and was going "....uuh, I am Japanese? What is this?" and the staff were laughing at her. When she was asked to release ayu-mi-x 8 she didn't even know we had an ayu-mi-x 7 and asked if it had come out. I don't think the staff knew what number they're up to, either. Quote:
|
Do you guys realise, in a certain part of taskinson, where Ayu says "Zzzz" "zzz", isn't that part from Nonfiction?
|
anyone else realized that the promo photo for this album is the same pose and layout from LOVEppears?

I finally listened to the whole album and it is really hard to compared this album to any other of her album because
1- by the time of the release, we only had 2 tracks and 2 interludes to discover 2 - we have been dissecting and digesting all previous singles with peculiar attention as critical as we could be. 3- her catalog is so big it is really hard to top what she did before and don’t we love to compare even in silence. 4- when she isn’t trying to rely in her comfort zone songs, we have a habit (not necessarily bad) to just prefer a certain style she had before. So in the end, is it a good album, yes, how it compares to the rest of her discography… I don’t know. I guess nonfiction is what seems to be lead single and it isn’t by far her strongest lead, but it is a good song. 23rd monster would be amazing… if It wasn’t that startin’ and Talkin to Myself existed and are superior. You have (Not)Remember you which is an electronic version or WARNING. Remember you is good, but MY STORY had WALKING PROUD and HAPPY ENDING. The album has overall more good songs than MADE IN JAPAN or R’N’R Circus, but these releases had advantage of dropping a bunch of songs at same time and we didn’t spend months criticizing all of them, we just skipped what we didn’t This is the first time though I don’t have a strong love at first side for a song and I r’think reason being, after 18th albums, it is hard to always outperform yourself. |
BTW, anyone got the DVD/BD and checked whether DaD is a promotional short version or a studio full version?

People spent a bunch of money on Super Chats she didn't even read. Where does the money even go? Again, amateur hour. Even though they said it'd be only her, I thought they'd have someone help her at least. I don't really have an opinion on the album yet, because there're just way too many old songs on it, so I see it less as an album yet, more as a bunch of old songs in the way to get to the new songs. lol I've only listened to the whole album once so far and like (NOT) Remember you and VIBEES the most from the new-ish songs. Funnily enough, I read VIBEES like vibe + bees and was like "Now I got used to that reading", then that's actually how you read it. ^^; I guess since an employee is someone who's employed, VIBEES are people who vibe or something? lol On a side note, I don't understand why she, or anyone really, has to outperform herself. With that attitude, you likely won't be satisfied. I have to say though, I'd really like her to get more arrangers, especially for ballads, since Nakano seems just too predictable at times. I personally would like CMJK to come back too. I thought they had a falling-out or something, but then he rearranged songs for the 21st anniversary concert. 10+ years seems too long for a mere scheduling issue though. |
It definitely felt completely unplanned, but TA did kind of warn us of that I suppose. Still, they absolutely should have turned off super chats. Or at least announce that they’re donating it or something. No one should’ve been pocketing money from that, IMO. Particularly since most weren’t even answered lol.
But yeah it was kind of a pointless stream. But she never answers questions with these things, so I wasn’t particularly hopeful. She’s exceptionally private now, which makes sense when she said she doesn’t really feel like saying as much now in her lyrics as she used to. |
Quote:
|
^ Yeah, she said that in the past she had a great desire to get her thoughts/feelings out, but nowadays there's more stuff she want to keep private in her lyrics.
And Ayu actually said "I'll wait for a better question" after the time machine question :laugh such a savage. ~~ I posted a translation of VIBEES in the lyrics thread. |
Yes, in the follow up question to her not having any dreams/not “fighting” for anything at the moment, they asked how she’ll go about writing her lyrics, and “in comparison to the past, do you ever feel like you’ve run out of things to write about?” She responded with “I don’t feel like I’ve written everything I have” but while she still has things to write about, her feeling of not wanting talk about things has increased. In the past, she had the feeling of wanting to express/talk about certain things, things she wants people to understand, the “screams” she held inside, but…. And then Max cut her off and mentioned how she never used English phrases before, and now she does.
|
Thank you both so much! I'll edit these details into the notes we have if that's okay - ah, I wish Max hadn't cut her off..
Quote:
|
Sure no problem!
The quotations were a way to organize my thoughts so don’t take them all as her exact words necessarily haha, but that was the general gist of what she said. |
Thank you so much - I've edited my last post with the new notes, and just copy/pasted verbatim so it's clear it's a summary and not a 1:1 translation. We'll make the most of every word she said in this livestream :laugh
First day sales are at 8.5k total, with a #3 placement. Credit to the AyuUpdates twitter page for posting about it :tipsy |
I watched the YT live and obviously could only understand english and some japanese words so thanks for the translation.
Looks like it was pretty much a disaster and very confusing for her. Must be scary though to see all these comments and neverending flow of questions on the chat. Plus, whats the point of this live if she does not want to answer questions but only for TA members. It's stupid. |
Does ayu only refer to paid members when she says TA in casual conversations though? Most artists I know use the fandom names for their whole core fanbase, regardless if they have paid membership or not
|
I kind of loved how crap the YT live was - it reminded me a lot of the 20yo Ayu who just giggled when she was asked questions on Music Station etc. She's adorably ridiculous. I'm glad she was just herself and it felt intimate rather than staged. We can see her staged self on stage. Not sure I've ever heard Ayu just chat before. I mean the Max combi can defs go in the bin in light of what a horrible person he is, but I guess there's something original about their weird duo as well. Ayu is unique, she does things her way, she doesn't even learn how to use YT Live... This is the Ayu we know and love.
|
Btw, the album debuted at No. 3 on ORICON, with 8508 copies sold.

I record it maybe you want to check it out |
I find that the remastered Haru Yo Koi sound very muffled especially the drums part, i’m not sure if this is the same in the CDs as this is what I heard from Spotify..I’ve compared it with A Ballads 2 version and I find that A Ballads 2 version is much cleaner and dynamic as a whole… not sure if those who received the CDs can verify this?

I've never seen a Japanese livestreamer answer questions attached to money--they usually just say, "Wow, thanks!" and move on. Is it different for livestreams in other countries?
(Ayu not saying thank you surprised me, but around the end she started asking what the money was all about, so I don't think she understood she was getting donations, or at least pretended she didn't know.) This looked to me like every other Japanese livestream I've seen on YouTube. From my experience, Ayu did exactly as expected. She was cute, she drew a lot of viewers to brag about (almost 40k when I was on, and she says the final unique viewers came to 168k) which can help push the album, and she answered some questions. Is it different elsewhere? It sounds like some of you are disappointed--do artists from other countries do something different? |

Like really, what difference does it make? A fan is a fan. Though some Japanese TAs also seem quite arrogant about it. Like I saw two discussing that the daruma can also be signed, then one of them concluded that they hope Ayu's precious TA gets them, which sounds to me like drawing a thick line between paid members and those, who aren't. Like, why do they even care? If someone bought it and got a signed one, they deserved it. Period. If it's a scalper or hater it'd be questionable, but if they paid the money they get the goods. shrugs I'm also aware that she wouldn't say anything meaningful anyway about the lyrics. Even the Q&A about (N)Ry was essentially a non-answer. She usually talks in a very roundabout way when it comes to those things. She wouldn't be like "This song is for Peypey." or something. lol But saying what song she likes or what photo she likes or that she recorded a song in only two takes or that a heel broke so she had to change shoes for the photo shoot - things like that should be fine to share. She seemed to have said some interesting things after I left annoyed. lol The lyrics thing is interesting, since Ry is probably the first album without an obvious song about romantic love, though some parts could be interpreted as being said to a lover. It might even be the first Matsuura-less album. They grow up so fast. =P So could romantic love be the topic she wants to keep private? At least to an extend? Going back to the album, I think the new ballads aren't really doing it for me. I'm not the biggest fan of Ohia, the arrangement is run-off-the-mill and some of the lyrics are like too direct for my taste. Makes me curious what song she would've written if she kept the child a secret. But when I listened to the whole album again I preferred Ohia to the new ones. Jtwya also kind of ends so abruptly. It's not even that they don't compare to walking proud, though they don't in my opinion, even in the context of the album they seem just there, even though they're good songs overall. There's really a stark contrast between the upbeat songs and ballads. I understand that those are probably the arrangements Ayu wanted, but adding clock ticking or something else to Ry could've gone a long way. |
Lol at people complaining that she only replies to TA, like... Did you even look at TA's Q&A ? :D xDDD
http://www.ahsforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=125177 I swear it's 99% of the time ayu teasing / snobbing / trolling her "dear TA", so nope, she doesn't "reply" to TA as well (unless you count an evasive answer an actual answer) I'm SO done with her "replies" I'd prefer her to stop answering these questions rather than being confused every single time... Also, technically, TA refers to her fanclub and not her fandom (which is the case for Kpop) I'm personally a member of TA only for tickets, because I don't expect any interesting exclusive content at all, so at the end of the day, TA or not, I don't care much... (they do spam a lot of emails per day though...) About the stream, yeah that was a disaster that shouldn't have happened in the first place, another waste of huge potential, old hamasaki ayumi wouldn't have been proud of that mess... (Also, lmao what about Kuu not being able to make a reservation at a restaurant???? Oh come ooooon she's freaking queen Koda Kumi, respect please!) Should we be scared of april 8th's "first and last" annoucement though ?? Back to the album, it's "ok" I guess ? I do prefer Remember me more than MADE IN JAPAN (I enjoy more tracks from the first), so that's already a win! |
Also I just want to say that some things may not translate well, but in Japanese she was Fing adorable and generally hilarious
|
I was able to watch the first few minutes of the livestream while it was live before work and it was adorably hilarious watching her try to figure out how to YouTube.
Like everyone else here, I don’t understand what the point was. It was the night before album release and she refused to talk about the album or answer any real questions. Then she posts a むらayu video showing off the TA version of the album and talking a bit about it. It was kind of funny that she had trouble opening the box and then she wasn’t able to put it back in the box, and then she gave up trying to put it back in the box. Almost like an analogy for how the livestream went lol |
I think the reason why she refuses to talk about the album is that she already knows that the sales figure would be bad. If she appears to be not interested in promoting the album at all, she can tell herself that the sales is bad because it is not promoted properly, that she is doing the album only for the fans, etc...
What really surprises me is how little promotion this album actually receives in conventional channels, like a TV-SPOT, or a billboard on the street. Yes, they won't promote the sales considerably, but that's a pretty basic thing to do for any established artist who has a new work. |
Someone said this before and I forgot to quote, but Remember you is this classic generic ayu ballad, we can hear the melody all throughout her discography.
Did anyone else also feel that ayu has recently been releasing more anime-ish songs like MASK, VIBEES, W, (Not)Remember you... Also DaD has some kind of anime opening vibe for me. |

I'm so in love with the song "Remember you". The violin at the back has some "japanese vibe" and the way she sings it really pleases me. Ok nothing new here but I think it's a quite good mid tempo ballad. Like "Today".
|
I didn't expect to like this album as much as I did! Really solid comeback from Ayu :luv2
Btw, did anyone catch the "Behind The Mask" sample on "MASK"? I didn't notice at first (as if the nod on the title wasn't so obvious lol), but then I listened to the verses a couple of times and something clicked in my head. It's a YMO sample! :eek |
"Remember you" (the song) is sooo good. I am listening to it non stop. I am pretty sure she's really hurt by the recent betrayals from some "friends or dancers". I hope Ayu can move on from it soon.

im so excited, i didnt know that my love towards her is still so big. i fell in love with that album even though i do not really follow herstuff from 2020 onwards.
here is my rating nonfiction 7/10 it grew a lot on me. I think her tv performances helped me a lot to get used to its unusual ayu song. not remember you 5/10 i admire songs like these but i dont think it turned about really good. it doesnt bother me though dreamed a dream 7/10 i truely believe this is a song in the category amazing in live. it reminds me on feel the love a lot actually. 23rd monster 10/10 wow - i think this is what ayu can do best - this song is just perfect for me summer again 9.5/10 - i love that she used the sample of this popular song i forgot the name. i reallllly enjoy it. ray of truth - its so sad that this isnt a song. the title is so deep. remember you 10/10 - my absolut favorite. i immediately fell in love with that song. its not a power ballad but it is a dark and meaningfull ballad that wont get boring. thats also a perfect song and shows the second side of ayu which i think she masters perfectly. 23rd monster and remember you are for me, who is a fan since 2009 types of songs that she does the best. ohia no ki 7/10 - deep meaning and i love that. it gets still a little bit boring but it does fit the vibe. haru yo koi 10/10 - i loved it, the vibe of it, the visuals - everything. mas-ter-piece taskinsion - mask 8/10 very unusual upbeat song - sometimes i feel the song and other days i feel like wow this is too much. lol vibees ?/10 vvveeeryy unusual sound- i like it but i have to get used to it. id assume itll get a 7,8 dependent on how it will grow on me just the way you are - 6/10 its a ballad. not more i reallly love this release. its great. |
I am obsessed with (NOT) Remember you. The evil twin of EnergizE is so good, really want to see more live performances of it.

I loved the new album, the new tracks are amazing. Btw, it was like a huge throwback when the interludes start playing, I really missed how they divide the album in sections.

I really love this album! it makes me very happy to enjoy Ayu's music and performances so much again.
It's also so nice to see how much people is loving it too! |
I think if the album had come out all at once like she did with M(A)DE IN JAPAN, it would be considered one of her best albums.
Unfortunately, we've had too much time to go through each song and too little anticipation. But looking at the album as a whole, it's a very cohesive and solid piece of work. |
"Remember you" is one of her best songs. It's a very strong album & I can't wait to share my thoughts soon. I don't care too much about the amount of singles (it's common in JPop, esp with digital singles + I'm a Hikki fan sooo), at the end of the day, the 4 new tracks + 2 interludes are very good and the album works great as a whole.
|
not listening to the singles is still my best tip for ya. Even if ou gotta wait 2 years.
Albums is pretty solid. Just really don't like Jtwya. |
The album stayed at #6 on its 3rd day! If all goes well, "Remember you" should debut at #4. :)
|
I’m so in love with this album. The lyrics have this feeling of “reflections from a grown woman”, she sings about illusions, self-esteem, the flow of time, authenticity… there is no “I’m in love with this guy” song, so she sings about many shapes of love…
“Remember you” song, although the arrangement is not spectacular, the way she sings and the lyrics resonates with me deeply, I love it. :heart |
The more I listen to the album, the I love it! I'm really happy with this project <3

But Does he explain the ideas of Ayumi Music Video? |
Finally listened to the album in full! Overall the album was FULL to me. None of the songs felt like filler songs I want to skip.
1. (NOT) Remember you - epic. Not a fan of it at CDL, but it grew on me. 2. Remember you - a sincere song. Didn't mind the melody of it. I wonder who is she trying to remember. 3. VIBEES - catchy tune. Love it! Lyrics seem interesting. 4. Just the way you are - Even though I get the message behind this song, first impression of PV was "pls tell me this is not real". But LOVE LOVE the song! 5. ray of truth and taskinson - perfection. 6. Nonfiction - Yohanne Simon remix - No idea why this song is in the album, and placed as track 13. By the time the album is released on 25 Jan, we technically only have 3 new songs and 2 interludes to binge on. Seem short, but yes it is a very strong album IMO. :luv2 |
Re-arranged the tracks sequence for fun. Start with “(Not) Remember you” and end off with “Remember you”. Removed “Nonfiction - Yohanne Simon Remix” as I find it doesn’t belong in the album but the remix itself is great, imo. Spotify link as below.

Why are the dancers in the making off blurred? Did I miss anything? :)
|
"Remember you" is #8 today. It would've remained at #6 but two new releases entered the top 5. Unfortunately, TXT came in with a massive 180K so Ayu's best shot is #5 now (making it her lowest placing studio album together with Colours).
I know the album was not promoted at all (+ how long she's been in the industry + the state of the Japanese music industry), so things like this are expected to happen at some point, but I still hope she manages to extend her streak of having all her studio albums place within the top 5. Especially since I consider this to be a rather important release. Chart run so far: 3-6-6-8 |
