The qualities aren't the best. I also found many covers with other singers or bands. I didn't rip them though. The reason for that is that ayaka sounds amazing in the performances but the other artist usually sound so bad compared to her. XD

...I have two things to say:

1. It's too freaking early for a best of album. And 2 discs?? Her whole discography will be in there!!

The way the best is being set up makes it like ayaka's retiring or worse, dying.

it sounds really terrible for a best compilation album if you ask me T_T

So basically, now that I've seen the tracklist, the first CD will be a single collection, and the limited versions will include the second disc featuring the fan favorites... That sounds better. Maybe it won't be so bad....

Ayu released A BEST after only 3 years so maybe this will be ok? On the other hand, she did have 3 albums by that time...

I don't like the title though! 'ayaka's history'?? At least it wasn't called 'Mikazuki' though-- I didn't like how Hirahara Ayaka named her best album after her most famous (and actually only...) hit song.

This release has an actual purpose behind it because she is ill and may not release new music for a long time. Less ridiculous than all the best releases from ayumi & kumi.

I don't see the purpose. It seems like a way to milk money like most best albums, especially after only 2 studio albums. Not that Kuu and Ayu are any better, but just saying, this release is not so "tantalizing." If she made a few new songs for it, or rearranged them, then I would want to buy it

@ Nintendo - you're not the only 1 who doesn't like ayaka's raspy husky voice that much

even my younger sister wasn't able to adapt to ayaka's initally since she's more YUI inclined

she's fine with ayaka's voice now though & yes you definitely should try Mikazuki , it's still her only #1 single in her career to date

Nintendo - I like most of her single songs like Te wo tsunagou, Mikazuki, Minna Sora no Shita (though it's not my favorite), Okaeri, Jewelry day... but NONE of her album tracks!
I think they are kind of too weird for my taste, like really weird but I could get into them if I'd listen to them a lot but I still never find time to do that xD. So maybe you should try out her single songs more?

I remember hearing about ayaka and downloading First Message and I seriously was just like you (I actually didn't like any song xD). But despite that later I tried Mikazuki (even though I didn't like it at first listen) and now it's one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard by her.

So, yeah, give her single songs a try.

Btw, do you guys consider ayaka to be a one hit wonder? I mean, of course Mikazuki has been her biggest song and whenever I talk to Japanese people they only know this song... But before Mikazuki there was I believe and that sold pretty well. The collabs with Kobukuro were also very popular too, but can that be thanked to their popularity and not hers? Her singles always go number one at iTunes, but they sell very poorly physically, on the other hand FM was the #12 best selling album of 06 and SttS was the #13 of 08. What do you think?

no I don't think so even though I have to admit that I will not be surprised that Mikazuki's probably the only song that the non casual Japanese people will know seeing that it's her only #1 single to date

Also I guess lyrically & then some , both Mikazuki & I believe were able to stuck a chord with them as compared to recent material that she has been releasing

anyway she has been doing fine since releasing Mikazuki in that all of her singles charted in the top 10 in the Oricon

before that , Real voice & Melody tanked in terms of chart ranking

She may not be famous like Ayu, but she has a strong fanbase, and I think people respect her. So no, I doubt she's a one-hit wonder
