I was thinking the same thing, after I had read the lyrics for "Don't look back" for the first time!

And this is something I've always loved about her lyrics; that these experiences and feelings would be hers, and yet she words them in such a way that you can apply them to your own situation, and these songs become dear to you for what they mean to you and about your own situations also.

I agree with this. They use the A BEST 2 cover to signify the 'past'. Its all crossed and scribbled on, which signifies something in the past that's worth forgetting, that's not worth looking back on. Also a little reference to ourselves which used the A BEST cover is a similar setting. Did anyone else find it eerie, that last shot of the A BEST 2 cover in the PV?

I think the PV also shows that those psychological/mental struggles are hidden too, behind a smile and make up. But then we see the other side that's tormented, which is the twist in the PV. Because from the onset, ayu doesn't look like she's upset. But gradually that facade fades away. There's flashes of ayu's face in 2 as well to make this point. You also see the A BEST 2 cover in scenes where only half of it has been scribbled on. Ayu covers half of her face while singing 'don't look back!'. So there's a lot of references to that in the video.

Also in the end of the song there are those lines
"The curtains fall in this way
and you?"

I think it's a question for people who want ayu to stay like in the past (which the song suggests to not look back at) if they also move on and not just she herself.

Yeah, that's a good point.

I always thought of it as; 'I'll be doing it this way, but what will you do?' It's almost like it doesn't matter what another person does, but it's of interest. Sort of like 'will this journey go forward with us together or will you stay behind?' I'm not sure what brought me thinking in this manner, but for some reason I felt like it fit.

Watched all of the PVs :shimmy Don't Look Back in full is such an awesome song, I'm in love with it! I also really liked the PV. Everything in general was really cool, I'm super hyped for this album.

I think it's sandwiched because it's not really a song that seems to match with the others right? It's probably the most outstanding and out-of-place song on the album

Like I think you said a few days ago, its kinda the "centrepiece" song of the album. That, and it probably doesn't flow into any other tracks. But how will Sunrise will flow into meaning of love? I haven't heard the rip, but I've heard its a ballad, and immediately flowing from an upbeat popelectronic track, don't know how that's going to work. I see another pieces of seven - days happening.

meaning of Love might be a mid-tempo ballad though, so its tempo will be right in the middle of Sunrise and You were... and pop -> ballad is a much smoother transition than Bollywood song -> anything else xD

EDIT: I don't know who the "you" in your post is referring to, but I definitely have some idea/thoughts on how/why Don't look back is right smack in the middle of the album that I never really mentioned lol. This reminds me I should make a new thread in the Ayu chat room...

My feelings towards it is that she's telling us something with the placement of Don't look back, haha.

meaning of Love is a bit of an "upbeat ballad love song"... it's sort of weird. I think it fits rather well after Sunrise into You were....

It has this uplifting feeling to it. Like Days' happier cousin.

I really do hope someone would translate that. She really does seem to have a personality that interviewers and people on these shows like to deal with, you know? And she looks sooo beautiful, it has to be said.

She mentioned something about when she was 14 years old? Huh? Her expressions are so funny though, lol.

Yeah, they can be really funny at times but that's cool, I mean it makes things interesting. I become really interested when somebody's face actually reads something, I think actions and facial expressions draw people into the conversation.

I would love to see Ayu's TV appearences subbed.
It's always seemed strange to me that no one has ever done it, when tons of artists I like (lots of whom are not nearly as popular as Ayu) have subbing teams.

She always seems so funny and interesting.

basically the host asked what was ayu's best thing. She said she could eat the fish perfectly that the bones didn't break (from head to tail). Then you heard she said "ayu wa desu ne~e" before she turned to the V6 guy rite? The dialogue was something like

Haven't seen Lady Dynamite yet, but I love sexy little thing and Don't Look Back PV!

I actually need to watch SLT and Microphone together again, but from what I remember of the Microphone PV, I really like how they contrasted in tone.

Don't Look Back is also really well-made. I also dig the dress that Ayu wore when she was standing in front of the A Best 2 poster. Although I love the scene where half of Ayu's face has all the messed up makeup, the makeup loving part of me was going "Ayu! they make water-proof eyeliners and mascaras now! And this is why it's important to fill in your lips with a lipliner and use a lipstain when doing the red lip!"

If you guys realized, she's actually destroying herself in Don't look back, whereas in ourselves it's other people.

I guess she's trying to make a point that in the past it was always others - the media, "evil people"?, etc who are trying to get her or something, but now, at this time and age, she realized that it's she herself who has been destroying "Ayu"... which makes it even more sad.

Like, all the mistakes she has made in the past... they're a part of destroying Ayu isn't it? So with "Don't look back", it's like a, "I've made mistakes and destroyed myself along the way in the past, but I'm gonna look forward and keep moving on..."
