But content wise, they ARE. They are being marketed as mini-albums, but are actually singles in terms of new content. There is no difference between these and the "maxi" singles of her early career. FIVE and Memorial Address were actually full "mini-albums".

ayumisrael 26th September 2012 05:51 PM

Well, FIVE looked a lot like a single too just without the remixes and instrumentals, so go figure :P

It does make sense that all the songs would be put on a later original album but "mini albums" would lose their meaning.

They might release A BEST 3 with 2 CDs or something at the anniversary date XD

I dont think they are...
the only difference between this release and FIVE is two full songs.

I think she is calling it a mini because she doesnt plan to put it on her next album.

As for the other suggestions... I like the idea of a box set... and they may even do an album with 15 (for the mini's) but I dont see that happening if they do a box set...

I'm hoping for this mini to kick off the series, and then we get singles for a new album packaged with A Best 3!

ayumisrael 26th September 2012 05:58 PM

Or that all the mini albums songs will be a part of A BEST 3 which would make sense but then it wouldn't be so bad as releasing it all on 1 original album because best albums always have already released songs.

Hope the December release is something awesome so I can get it as a birthday present for myself.

Somehow, I don't think they really care how much new content is on the disc. We'll see when everything is released (and if they're even all new songs) but if they decide to call it a mini-album, judging from the past releases that were minis, we should expect it to be standalone.

TeamAyu2004 26th September 2012 07:55 PM

^ yep. I think thats why they are calling it a mini...
not to mention how long it is running for...

title156 26th September 2012 07:58 PM

I want ayu to make this for 15th anniversary celebration. All 50 singles in cardsleeves put together in one box plus special bonus CD.

TeamAyu2004 26th September 2012 08:09 PM

^ I would totally buy that!!

Do it with the albums too!!

ExodusUK 26th September 2012 08:11 PM

Again the length and amount of track doesn't matter. Oricon argued about it because Ayu was the first to have a AAAA maxi and they were adjusting from the mini-CD single format to the full length CDs we have now, so their rules were outdated and were then changed as we can see from all the singles Ayu continued to release afterwards with 10-13 tracks. I don't understand why people think it's a mini album because it has soo many tracks..did you forget about 1999-2002? Not just A but the & single had four new songs also!

TeamAyu2004 26th September 2012 08:50 PM

^ and the same thing can be said about some of us not understand why you cant see its a mini...

these are different times...

b-sides are different for the & singles.
It has to do with the length of an album. It's a mini because its so long.

the main point I see people saying is that it has instrumental and thats what makes it a single... sorry, but it dont.

Its. A. Mini. Album.
Mainly because that's what they are calling it.

I agree. :yes Mini albums do not have a set definition. If the company/artist releasing the product says it is a mini album, then it is a mini album.

truehappiness 26th September 2012 09:26 PM

I wonder if EXILE fans have trouble with FANTASY since it was essentially larger than most mini-albums with 8 A-sides... though they probably just call it a single since that's what EXILE advertised it as.

LOL! I'd clip out the news article from the paper and magnet it proudly to my fridge.

Yeah IT IS a mini-album because that's what they're releasing it as.

I don't understand what you mean? What does the length have to do with it? mini = long? I don't know why you think singles can't be over 25 minutes long because that simply isn't the case. Nearly half of Ayu's singles are over 25 minutes in total length.
They could release this as a single but they're simply not doing so, they're calling and selling it as a mini-album. No one is arguing that.

TeamAyu2004 26th September 2012 09:39 PM

^ i already gave you the link for all of the terminology and why it is the way it is...
you clearly didnt read it.

And frankly people are arguing the fact that they could sell it as a single but instead are selling it as a mini is because:
1. Ayumi/avex/who ever doesn't want to ruin Ayumi's streak (bull)
2. so avex can charge more. (Bull. They charge for how much material you are getting. And the fact is, we are getting more then the mini FIVE and it's cheaper)

I would assume they just called it a single... because that is what it was advertised as... but I think to oricon it was an album? not even a mini... lol

The article mentioned other acts who did consecutive releases, and it was all music.

It really wouldn't make news if she was releasing photo books and stuff...

Plus, the Oricon article says we should expect more surprises, which could be the calendar, lifestyle stuff, etc.

In relation to this, I wonder if they only mentioned artists who did consecutive music releases because this sort of thing has never really been done before?

Are there artists out there that have done such continuous release projects and they weren't all CDs?
