...it's not about the day she was physically born, it's about her deciding to change herself and the "double birthday" is the day the new version of herself was "born".

thinkingoutloud89 15th June 2015 01:52 PM

^thats how I got it to. Its Just a strange way to make the song more universal, opposed to restricting it to one day.

ayu_ready? 15th June 2015 02:03 PM

I want urban and funky new album tho. but apparently it's not in fashion

Welurru 15th June 2015 02:07 PM

I don't get the focus being on 'Double Birthday' when she sings about her DNA being on cloud 9 in the same song.
Maybe her feelings/emotions are ecstatic, but her genetic make-up? Makes no sense.

Delicious n Bold 15th June 2015 03:55 PM

Y'all think too much

A double birthday is when you have a party/get presents and then at the end of the day you're gonna get some sex.

HAHAHA. I cackled reading this!

Yes! I do like the EDM sound she's been going for with the last few albums, but I would love for her to re-embrace the urban sound of Style, Queen of Hip-Pop, and Play. Or at least have a few R&B/hip-hop tracks for the sake of variety.

It is dumb as hell and the juvenile lyrics are embarrassing as hell, but the engrish is glorious and I cant wait to warble the song at Karaoke.

ayumisrael 15th June 2015 06:22 PM

Well maybe Emyli was great on tekitou lover feat. Verbal but she is lously in writing lyrics :P.

So after a week listening to the album I know which songs I like and dislike.

Skipping - Time Has Come (very messy and annoying) & Birthday (sorry namie but from the don't care if you love or dislike I choose dislike in here lol, j/k).

Good - Scream, Anything

Very Good - Fly, It, Golden Touch, Every Woman, What I did for love

Great - Be Who I Want 2 Be, Space Invader, Fashionista, Stranger, Photogenic

Bigtop 15th June 2015 09:26 PM

_genic sold over 160,000 copies in its first week. Not too shabby!

Less than I expected, but not bad at all :)

Heavenly 16th June 2015 12:21 PM

I really don't get the "B Who I Want 2 B" hype....

I just don't like this song at all, can't stand the high-pitched voice of Hatsune-Whatever, and the music is not flattering... Bip Bip Bip Biip BipBipBipBipBip....

Utena 16th June 2015 12:29 PM

^ I think it's one of those songs you either like/love or hate

the composition is sick. Its actually the most advanced on the album.
As for Hatsune - you either like that type of music or not. I listen to many Japanese bands who can't sing, are autotuned and even many anime tracks, so for me it is okay.

So, after some time this is how I feel towards _genic tracks:

LOVE: Photogenic, Golden Touch, Stranger

Good: Birthday, Fashionista (both grew on me, didn't expect it, but I'll never forgive these songs for having a PV instead of Photogenic), Anything

Good but forgettable: Time Has Come, Scream, Fly, Space Invader (this one so forgettable I forgot to put it here at first)

Bad: It, Every Woman, What I Did For Love

What on Earth is this song: B Who I Want 2 B

Delicious n Bold 16th June 2015 02:06 PM

I showed my friends some of the songs off the album and the majority said her singing (the way she sings, how she sounds, any vocal power or whatever) was not that good.
Praying for namie ha vocals. Every time someone says she's a good singer I giggle. She's ok at best. She cant convey any emotion at all.

Gustavopc 16th June 2015 03:00 PM

^ At least since FEEL she got a bit sassy in some songs (at least in studio songs, haven't watched her last two concerts to judge her live sassiness), like in Supernatural Love and Photogenic. That's why, for example, I prefer the Violet Sauce (Anotha Recipe) version over the original, cause the original would have worked much better in a sassy way, but as she couldn't do it, whispering the song took it to a whole new level

Corvina 16th June 2015 03:07 PM

For me it's like that for _genic after some time.

Great, my faves:
Golden Touch, Space Invader and Time Has Come

Good:
Photogenic, Fly, Scream, It, Fashionista

Bad:
Every Woman, Birthday, Anything, B Who I Want 2 B, Stranger

I defintely like this album much better than FEEL.
Really like the overall feel of it (no pun intended!).
Though I did notice as well that the mixing is really loud in some songs and I can understand if people say it's messy in that part.

Not necessarily, there are songs I just don't care about or don't mind them but it doesn't mean I like/love them or hate them.
Everything's not black or white, grey does exist...
