Sales don't bother me either. I just want her to be able to keep
her number one streak. But it looks like that's not going to happen. =[

Jwiz 26th December 2007 04:54 PM

i do hope GUILTY's ''first week'' sales will not end up much lesser than m(u)'s (654,000 )...around 400K or higher would be great enough =/ and after all, GUILTY is a great album and i certainly don't wish to see it ended up in an undesirable sales figure and rank =(

aw it's quite nerve-wrecking..solo artist competing with groups.

njanjayrp 26th December 2007 04:56 PM

beh she is way past the point she needs to change anything so she could prove herself to someone ^^, the whole Japan knows who AYU is, the thing is that over the years less people want to buy her albums. We can't really blame it on anything , AYU is constantly out there releasing stuff every few months the past 10 years, there is a limit to everything, maybe they're just getting tired of her, sad, but pretty possible. There is nothing to worry about, I doubt the album will flop and it will get no1 for sure.

Mirai Noah 26th December 2007 05:26 PM

I just want Ayu to get number 1!

nsmxj 26th December 2007 05:41 PM

i think people don't know that ayu's album is on sale because everybody thinks it's on sale in january

balladesque 26th December 2007 05:58 PM

As long as debuts in the top, I'm fine with that.

Ayu hasn't done that since RAINBOW.

How the hell did they got that popular?

Last time I checked, they weren't really huge. 700k in the first week is AMAZING. It beats "Secret" overall sales in just one week!

People in Japan, KNOW how the release system works. Even people in different countries online, who have never been to Japan knew it would come out with all the December 26th releases, which meant it will be in stores on Xmas day, as they get released a day earlier than the official date.

Christmas day is not a national holiday, all the shops are open. Even if some people have a special meal, it does not stop them going out and shopping.

Wow, someone in this thread finally knows what they are talking about. All of that is 100% true. Japanese people know how the release system works in the country where they have bee living most if not all of their lives. And Christmas is not treated the same way in Japan as it is in America. :rolleyes Cut it with the excuses people.

Exile has been popular for a while now.

Then why did they outsell their last album released like a year ago in the first week? O_o;

Whatever. Why would someone who doesn't even like Ayu be here in the first place anyway?

ROFL. You're really in no position to criticize, bb. Mad because I called you guys on your excuses?

Yes. I'm mad because you pointed out what was so obvious! :P

But seriously. Whatever. #1 would be nice, and high sales would be even nicer! But I don't think we can do much about the state of Ayu in Japan.

I'm happy with the album and if it doesn't do well, it doesn't do well. Wishing that it's going to sell amazingly isn't going to make it happen. The only way for anyone to do that is to totally change themselves as an artist, and I don't think Ayu'd be willing to do that.. ever.

Then again, it is only the first day, and as an Ayu fan, I can only hope for the better.

Let's wait to see what happens tomorrow before we jump into conclusions. I still stand by my belief that no one apart from a diehard fan would know it would be released on Christmas day and would rush to buy the album since most people would be out celebrating.

Anyway this is kinda getting blown out of proportion. My other fave artist sells like 20k for an album and I'm still bloody happy.

CHE.R.RY 26th December 2007 07:43 PM

Well this doesn't surprise me...everyone was saying it wasn't going to sell well. Besides, A BEST 2 - BLACK - (which supposedly consisted of Ayu's darker songs) didin't sell as well as A BEST 2 - WHITE - (which was all of her happy songs)...see a trend? I think the public is more interested in Ayu's more uplifting cheerful music than her depressed and dark music.

But hopefully the sales will improve as time goes on.

Probably. It's like the contrary of her non-Japanese fans though. Most prefer her darker songs than say... something like "glitter". I personally don't have a problem with up-beat songs, but not the kind she does now. I prefer the type of upbeat songs she did from ASFXX-RAINBOW.

namiie 26th December 2007 07:51 PM

I don't think ~70,000 the first DAY is bad at all. That's how much Ai Otsuka's Ai Am Best sold the first day, and it sold over 700,000 (which is good nowadays) copies so far and is still selling. Yeah, anything less than 1 million is low for Ayu, but I think that that's what we need to get used to, given the way the industry has changed.

Bad Wolf 26th December 2007 07:56 PM

Personally I think it's stupid to say OH IT'S OUT JANUARY 1ST YOU GUYZ and then... have it out a week before. O_o oookay, of course that's going to make your debut sales weak and weird.

However, I really don't care how much it sells because to me that's no indicative of success--but I highly doubt avex people feel the same.

Lee_Hamasaki 26th December 2007 08:00 PM

we will se tomorrow...1 day isn't enought

Wow, I don't know why but I found it kind of funny envisioning Avex buying truckloads of Ayumi albums just to get her to #1.

v3lun420 26th December 2007 09:27 PM

I just hope for the best. I do wish this album will be no. 1.
