I really love Jpop although I really can't understand the lyrics, just a few phrases. The melodies themselves are quite enough for me to be addicted to Japanese music. Ayumi Hamasaki's unique style of music particularly in her earlier works(A Song for XX until Memorial Address) are the tunes that I'm searching before I knew her. Unfortunately, I'm not really fond of ayu's works during the GUILTY era. I just listened to that album a few times.

Another artists that make me still interested are: TUBE, Kawamura Ryuichi, L'Arc~en~Ciel, X Japan, Fukuyama Masaharu, SMAP, Hirai Ken and Chemistry.

Songs from the 90's is the real Jpop melody era... I always want to go back to those moments.

Ayumi, and I hate to say it, is one of the only JPop artists who's been disappointing me lately.
I adored NEXT LEVEL at first, but after playing it for a while it got a bit boring, only a few songs really stuck out to me.

Koda hasn't failed to keep interested in her and her music. There's just something about her that seems like fun her music just keeps getting better and better, I can't wait for 3 Splash

The main artists I continuously follow are as follows:
Ayumi (though like I said, the urge to keep up to date with her music is decreasing)
Koda
Namie
Utada
BoA
Miliyah Kato

And that's about it.... I mean, they aren't the only artists I listen to, but they're the ones I completely follow. The other JPop artists I listen to I just look back on to check every now and again.


I think I haven't gotten bored of JPop itself because I keep my music varied. I will listen to Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, Cantonese, Taiwanese and Western music equally. I can also enjoy Spanish, Russian and French music. JPop will always be my favourite style of music though.

To be honest, I never really gave up on J-pop in a whole, just some artists I listened when I discovered J-Music, like Kotani Kinya, Dream, Do As Infinity (though not entirely, I listen to them once in a while) and listen to new artists, like Utada, Kuu, more of Ayu stuff etc

1. Utada Hikaru. I used to like her song. but later I got her voice is really annoying and so flat thoug I like her song. i just dont like her voice. so thats why i never follow her info anymore. just when she has new song, i will download and listen to it. i like her music not her voice

2. Nami Tamaki ; her music lately are so boring. I gave up.

3. Ai Otsuka : no any song can make me interested to her music since the latest one chu-lip. I still keep updating her info though

I was listening to J-pop since 1996 (DEPARTURES, CAN YOU CELEBRATE?) and I briefly stopped in 2002 because I felt that H and Voyage were boring. Then I wasn't too impressed with RAINBOW either.

And Ayumi was basically my favourite singer even back then. Fortunately No way to say came along and rekindled my interest.

BoA --> I don't like her new songs very much
the older songs from LISTEN TO MY HEART to LOVE & HONESTY are way better for me

Koda Kumi --> I lost interest in Koda Kumis music since BEST ~BOUNCE & LOVERS~

Gackt --> I have totally lost interest
I don't even know why I ever listened to his music.....

Nope, I don't listen to some artists as often as I used to before though.

I'm kinda losing interest atm...

I've listened to so many indie japanese artists and smaller name pop artists...the mainstream people need to come back now...

we just need moar stuff! It feels like everyone is so dead...although namie is coming out with an album and singles are coming...there are still no leaks...i want new music. NOW. I'm bored.

The Koreans are even more interesting.

haha for me with every passing day its becoming better and better for me. I'm not interested in english music AT ALL in fact I hate most of it. There are a couple of english songs that I'm like.. eh.. this sounds nice but most of the time I really don't even bother to listen to it when my friends are dancing to it. One time when I was going from American to J-pop I tried to make myself lose interest by not listening to it but I couldn't help it... if I didn't listen to J-pop I wouldnt' listen to music at all and its been that way since. I haven't changed at all for the past like... 7 years I want to say. haha.

i've never really lost interest in j-pop before, it's like a long extended obsession :thud
although, k-pop and american music eclipses this from time to time :innocent

To be honest...I think the people who tend to lose interest are the ones who go "OMGZZZ Ayumi/Kumi/BoA/Namie LUV EM EVRY1 ELZ SUX" without actually listening to anyone else...so of course they're going to lose interest when they only like four artists :P

I've never lost interest. Whenever I feel like it's time for new music I just check out a new artist :D

Jpop is still my favorite asian music. But I also found my love for Kpop and Cpop. The problem is, I've become such a picky person. The songs need to be really good to impress me. I believe that's because I heard so many great music in past, and can't get it again. For an example, I'm aware that Ayu will never do a song like evolution or Will ever again. Or that Jrock bands lost their touch with great music. I also love many western singles by artists like Linkin Park, Madonna and Beyonce, but still get disappointed when I hear other songs from albums.

So, when I think I lost interest in Jpop, I listen to older songs and remind myself why I started listening to them in first place :yes

I really was a great fan of Amuro Namie a few years ago, but these days I really don't like her music anymore. How can I say that: The lyrics are so "meaningless" and the music in a lot of her songs is boring me now.

I also LOVED Ringo Shiina and I still like her a lot, but not with Tokyo Jihen. I don't like their songs at all.

I will NEVER EVER lose interest in Ayu-chan, though! For me, she is really the Queen of J-Pop!
She writes all her own lyrics and sometimes her own music. She works so hard to give her fans the best of her and I love and respect her for that!! <3

The western music scene is pretty dismal... I have a few English singing artists on my ipod that I really like, but I can't stand anything else...
I follow Japanese music because I like it, and will keep following it... it's not like I'll stop, it's the music I listen to so why would I stop?
It's not like there is a rule saying if you start liking another kind of music you must stop listening to the music you loved before.
I'm getting to the point where it's not just some 'stage' in my life, I will probably like it for a long time!!
ya hard to explain... just I really doubt I will stop liking it anytime soon... perhaps when I'm an old woman!
