My first song was "Hiru no Tsuki" as well, but the first song I heard after actively looking for Japanese music was Utada Hikaru's "Colors". I found out about her from the Kingdom Hearts video game.

The first Japanese song I ever listen must be My Will by Dream (Inuyasha 1st ending), since then I got hooked up in J-Music :love

For me, it's globe's "feel like dance."

I wasn't really into Japanese entertainment back then so I didn't really get into it till around 1998, when Cartoon Network Asia started showing anime and our cable provider got JET TV, which showed anime, doramas and JPop music videos.

y_nathz 21st October 2009 08:49 AM

doraemon theme XD
but if ur talking bout JPop i think its Utada Hikaru's First Love which was incredibly famous in indonesia :D

Hikki- First Love
Doraemon OST

amorphose 25th October 2009 07:35 AM

It was either Hikari or COLORS; both by Utada Hikaru. I'm not sure which-- I think Hikari though.

ayuinh.k? 28th October 2009 02:37 AM

Hikki - Automatic
brings back all the memories of 90's j-pop LOL

songs by KinKi Kids, SPEED (songs from Moments album, one of the 1st japanese albums i've heard of and really love it~), Noriko Sakai (mostly due to the drama heaven's coin), Chage Aska (Meguri Ai... from Tokyo Cinderella drama broadcast in Singapore), Aikawa Nanase.. and most of the older classic japanese drama themes.

really miss the times when J-pop was super famous in Singapore..

SAKURA Drops by Utada, back in Winter 2005. :love

Crystal_Ageha 28th October 2009 08:59 PM

How do you guys remember your first ever song, hah?? :O

All I know is that it was something from the late nineties, since that's when I started listening to Japanese music. So maybe a Hikaru song, from First Love? :O I probably would remember that, though. I'm thinking it was some slightly unknown singer....

Itsumo Nando Demo by Yumi Kimura, from Spirited Away. i didn't really like it at first, but i found some other jmusic like Ayu and DAI and was hooked.

tenshi no hane 30th October 2009 08:37 PM

Utada Hikaru's 'First Love' ^-^ I was actually looking for 'Simple & Clean' after playing Kingdom Hearts but found her Japanese songs instead xD (and so my j-addiction began..)

edit: actually the first one was "Suteki da ne" by Rikki (FFX theme song) but didn't really realize it was Japanese..^^;;

PinkShinigami 30th October 2009 10:17 PM

Dearest.. ^^,

emikoishida 7th November 2009 11:40 PM

I think it was either BoA's Every Heart or Fukai Mori by DAI.

love_destiny_J 30th November 2009 05:23 PM

For me it's probably 'To Be' by Ayu. It was during those days when her ads and PVs were being broadcasted every now and then on TV. And the first PV of hers that I watched was 'To Be'. All the kaleidoscope, wacky wigs and costumes really left a deep impression in me then. Even now Ayu's PVs still never fail to amaze me. :)
