Omg she sound so good!! and i love the production. seriously wasn't having any high hope for this but Ayu prove me wrong :)

Zeke. 8th December 2014 03:26 PM

I don't like the verses as much. Rather dry and typical buildup but the chorus is everything.

Minttulatte 8th December 2014 03:28 PM

Am I the only one who thinks the cover is horrible? I love Movin' on without you to bits. It's one of my favorite songs from Hikki, and sadly this version isn't what it should be like. It lacks that wow aspect completely in my eyes. I think she should have chosen something more suitable for her voice.

freedreamer 8th December 2014 03:33 PM

Seeing how his preview was uploaded by AYU's team and having RedOne to do the track, I think the chances of her performing it MAY be higher now hahh

ayumint 8th December 2014 03:37 PM

Woooowwww!I love it

amorphose 8th December 2014 03:38 PM

It's so good. :heart

Loulines 8th December 2014 03:40 PM

Ugh just gimmie the full version already *^*
This one cover is better than most of what she released for a couple of years

I think that's the problem. Most of us had low expectations because we have absolutely no interest in the original. IMO, the original lacks harmonization and depth during the chorus and just feels rather subtle and cheesy. However, Ayu's version gives off a completely different feel. It expands upon the chorus and really excels at giving a clear definition between chorus and verse. You can feel the energy rise and the song "take-off" when the hook comes in. That's what I look for in a song most of the time, and this song hits such criteria, so therefore, I am (as well as many others) are truly pleased with the improvements Ayu has made to this version of the song.

You might be. :P

I personally think this song suits ayu more than Hikki. When I heard the original I was a bit surprised it was Hikki's song to begin with.

ayumint 8th December 2014 03:54 PM

this cover makes me want to go to the pub now!!!
I CAN'T SLEEP!!!!!!!!

Coelacanth 8th December 2014 03:56 PM

I'm glad this exists because it makes her discography more interesting, but the track severely lacks any kind of Ayu / J-pop charm.

I think Ayu does "Western" sounding music well when it's her own song (XOXO, Wake me up, Lelio, Terminal, Bold & Delicious), but this song is WAY too Western-sounding even for her, and it's not even the arrangement, it's the melody. the melody is so Western-sounding that it pretty much forces her to change her vocal style. she sounds sooooooooo affected.

I love this song very much, so I can understand what are you talking about. but, from my part, I can say, that I expected the cover to be much worse lol :D yet I'd prefer Ayu making a cover of any ballad

js_surrealism 8th December 2014 04:29 PM

I love both ayu and hikki and honestly of the previews so far, ayu's might be the only one that's actually better than the original (which says a lot for me because my blind love for shiina ringo is about 5 times that of ayu's)

everything from production to vocals to even the subject matter of the song, sounds like right at home it might as well have been ayu's own song, a bastard child of something off next level and a song for xx.

marekcarey 8th December 2014 04:42 PM

It's on iTunes. How could we get it? :(

rainbow_smile 8th December 2014 04:42 PM

I found the full version on tumblr, so I assume it should be available for download somewhere :D Sorry, can't go and try to find it because I have to study for a test =/

http://hamasatan.tumblr.com/post/104...hout-you-utada

I really like the chorus and Ayu's vocals <3

marekcarey 8th December 2014 04:45 PM

It was released on iTunes, but I can't seem to find the full album anywhere now. :(

Pieces_of_SEVEN 8th December 2014 04:54 PM

I'm sure it'll be up soon.

Ayumi Romania 8th December 2014 05:26 PM

I really looooooooove it!

Zeke. 8th December 2014 05:29 PM

This song is soooo good. I think the chorus is a pure jpop melody. This song makes me kind of sad that she missed the boat on delivering an energetic album of this quality. Lelio is the only song that comes close to this on CoLOURS.

This for me is one of those moments that I feel glad I kept holding onto ayu and my faith and hope for a phenomenal release.

TheRainbow 8th December 2014 05:33 PM

It's so fun! I think it does the original justice. :)

tsumekaze_ 8th December 2014 05:41 PM

I swear I can't stop listening to it. hi there new jam

AyumiAi 8th December 2014 05:42 PM

ITS SO FUNNNN

Uknow! 8th December 2014 06:10 PM

OMG! I love it! The rap parts are <3 I love her voice. I didn't like the original but this is perfect.

love in music 8th December 2014 06:11 PM

It sounds so much like a song on Colours to the point that it bothers me. I don't really like it. Her vocals are pretty good though

visionfactory 8th December 2014 06:20 PM

I have the preview on loop lol it's so good!!

YuraiNamida 8th December 2014 06:40 PM

This cover is GREAT! My favourite from the album. Final Distance and Sanctuary seems promising too from the previews. I like stay gold too even if I don't know the original version.

Yoake 8th December 2014 06:50 PM

The song isn't bad but it is not amazing. It feels the 90 years a lot again which is good. But Ayu's voice is really altered, it's a song she won't be able to sing in live decently again. My favourite part is the verse's melody. The intro and the chorus are so-so.

amorphose 8th December 2014 06:58 PM

Too bad we'll never know which song she was originally approached with.

Zeke. 8th December 2014 07:06 PM

I like the feeling the chorus gives cause it really exudes the emotion that "I'm moving on without you, and it's going to be fantastic." It's like that feeling that you're finally free of the hold that person had on you. New beginnings, new found happiness. Etc. And the verses have a bit of attitude and hostility, tbe. The chorus comes in like "but that doesn't matter anymore cause I'm moving on from it all and I've never felt better or more confident in myself and my decision. The future is promising."

marzie 8th December 2014 07:08 PM

I love it! My expectations were low because I love the original so much, but Ayu's version is really great!

ayumisrael 8th December 2014 07:12 PM

ayu's version is so awesome!! I really like it!

KPL 8th December 2014 07:13 PM

I agree with Zeke about the importance of Japanese melody.
Personally, I think one of the strongest element of Ayu's discography is her earlier remixes. Now I think of it, they are great not just because of big-name western producers, but because of the contrast between highly Japanese melodies and the western productions. And Ayu's voice, unlike those more vocalist voices, can really deliver that contrast fantastically.

If anyone likes enough songs to buy the entire album, could you pretty please share with us?

That's how they get you, if you want the one good track, you have to buy the other so so tracks

Kazeyomi 8th December 2014 07:47 PM

I'm smashing the replay button.
I LOVE IT

I agree! Really love the cover!

Tomoyo 8th December 2014 08:44 PM

i have to admit i didn't really like this song when utada sung it but ayu! oh my gosh! -in love- it's probably the instrumental that does it more for me than her vocals, but she still sounds amazing!

Yuniz_hime 8th December 2014 11:15 PM

I love both versions.

chocopockymaster 8th December 2014 11:46 PM

I am going to be jamming out to this for the rest of time

SOMEBODY FIND ME A DANCE FLOOR

DonkeyKongRemix 9th December 2014 02:22 AM

I still would've been interested to hear Kokia cover an Utada song, but I'm sure there was never a chance of that happening.

jbrat2219 9th December 2014 03:05 AM

Movin' on has been on serious repeat all day. It fits in nicely with Colours too so I tend to listen to them all together.

AYUmyQUEEN 9th December 2014 03:22 AM

really loving what Ayu did with the song! It's so fun and sassy! I'm a fan of the original as well and they are both unique in their own way.

Beauty4123 9th December 2014 03:30 AM

I've just listened to the preview from ayu's youtube channel & I am absolutely loving what I've heard of "Movin' on without you". :love ayu has done an incredible job! RedOne also did total wonders with the production of the song, I just can't stop listening to it! :D It's so, so fantastic. :luv2 I totally cannot wait to listen to the full song! :)

kotora 9th December 2014 03:49 AM

This cover can be a re-cut single, but no don't do it for real.

orangeakira 9th December 2014 04:06 AM

She did an amazing job. I like the original, but it's by no means one of my favorites. This definitely could have been on colours.

Thank you! I've just got around to listening to the full song. :D I didn't even think it was possible, to love a preview as much as I did, but now that I've heard the full song.....I love it a billion times more! :luv2 It's just amazing! Simple as that. :D Everything about the song is perfection! :love Now I know which song I won't stop listening to, for the rest of the week! :yes ayu did such an incredible job with "Movin' on without you"! I love it so much & I'm so happy! :heart :)

Movin' on without you is one of the few songs that I adore in Utada's discography and I love the cover as well ^_^

tokyoxjapanxfan 9th December 2014 05:02 AM

I like the cover, a lot.

But I wish it wasn't EDM. Just because, well, I don't listen to EDM much. Only when I'm in certain moods.

So in the long run I think this song will end up being a "sometimes" song for me. For the moment though I'm enjoying it--and maybe I will end up listening to it often in the future haha. But I do give her props for pulling it off. It ended up sounding very (recent) her.

pimenta 9th December 2014 05:50 AM

I'm loving the cover! I never liked the original song, so I had no expectations for the cover, but they did an amazing job with it, Ayu's cover is sooo good :heart

hayasaki 9th December 2014 06:05 AM

Probably First Love... Giving Ayu Hikki's biggest song would be a huge selling point...

I was thinking about it actually as well, but i suppose Hikki prefers to spend her New year's eve with family/friends unless she would appear on earlier date just for fun :P Still that i doubt very much.

relmy 9th December 2014 10:28 AM

The verses are amazing, oh my god Ayu, where was all this attitude on Colours?!

She's sounds really into the song, which I didn't really get from Colours.

kiseki89 9th December 2014 01:15 PM

omg totally different style! While Hikki's nice, ayu's more sassy and lively!

EDIT: oh dear Flavor of life sounded very horrible.

At least someone's being realistic and understands that Ayu will really struggle if she attempts to sing it live :-P

revolution9292 9th December 2014 02:24 PM

love this song but at the same time i feel that she didn't want to take any risk with this project unlike the other artist.

Pieces_of_SEVEN 9th December 2014 02:51 PM

maybe, but most of their risks did NOT pay off. and this works perfectly well with the lyrics and meaning of the song, so...

AyUmIXx 9th December 2014 03:06 PM

just got the time to listen to the cover song.
i'm so loving it!
ayu nailed it!!
most of the tracks are so boring.. sound like no energy in singing them, flavor of life oh no disaster, automatic, hikari...sigh...

I agree the verses are great, even better than Hikki's. Maybe because Ayu can rap, the pronunciation sounds really good.

My Rainbow 9th December 2014 03:35 PM

I really like aye's cover. It's the best cover of the album.

Zeke. 9th December 2014 04:10 PM

See I think she picked it because it WAS a risk. She wanted to do something really altered. Had she gone with a ballad you know it's sound almost identical to the original.

Tom Punks 9th December 2014 04:26 PM

This cover is just sort of there to me. idk, I guess I'm totally indifferent. It's not bad but it's just a generic EDM/electropop cover and I'm never gonna go out of my way to listen to it. Or probably ever listen to it again period lulz.

the whole album is a disaster lol they love to destroy gems

Except for ayu's track of course and FINAL DISTANCE

se7entheaven 9th December 2014 04:40 PM

I believe none of the artists dare to cover First Love to avoid ruining the song as it's one of the most classic JPop of all time

I was going to listen to the rest of the album, good to know I don't have to waste my time. I wonder which song Hikki thinks is the best?
