Remember you debuts at #6 on Oricon with 11,000 copies sold. With this Ayu gets her 54th Top 10 album on Oricon, passing Seiko Matsuda, becoming the 2nd artist with the most Top 10 albums.

TXT really came in, charted for two days and pushed her from #5 to #6... I know everyone says sales don't matter but it kinda annoys me that she narrowly missed out on extending her "all her studio albums reached the top 5" streak. Even TROUBLE did so much better...
I have to say things ended up being worse than I expected :/ It's sad but then again, neither she or Avex made an effort to let people know about this release.

Well, 20k in the long run is out of the question now.
This will end up with similar sales than A BALLADS 2 (16k).

Well, it's 2023. For me, physical sales isn't necessarily a sign of public awareness nowadays, so I'm happy to see she has some solid hardcore fanbase who buys her stuff until now.

It does matter in a way that good sales justify who will be allowed bigger budgets within the company. If her sales were strong we would get better pv quality by example.

However in her case, the new album seems more like a way to have new material to go on tour and to release physically all the digital single from past year. The sole promotion for the album was a tv performance from a song released nearly a year ago.

Would've been nice to hit the #5 spot, #6 with 54th Top 10 album is still fantastic

I agree. Nowadays her CD are mostly collectible items for the fans. Even digital sales don't mean much, since you can listen to the music on services like Spotify with only subscriptions

I don't think CD Japan actually sold it with the TA bonus fake CD thing - pretty sure they just sold it with a card. They get their stock from Mu-Mo, not the fanclub - which had different bonuses.

The 8cm CD mock looks exactly like one of her old 8cm CD single releases from back in the day. Definitely not a postcard.

The album is the #87 and sold 467 physical copies this week at Oricon Charts, and it's the #69 at Billboard Japan (the #50 album sold 674 copies, so Remember you must have sold around 500 physical copies, as Billboard numbers are usually slightly higher than Oricon).

Not feeling this release, but it was super sweet and nostalgic getting the punched in the stomach feeling again from reading the lyrics for remember you.

I can see VIBEES being performed after SHAKE IT on tour.

Cahz asked about Line, and while I don't know the weekly wrap-up, A BEST has been in their top 100 albums several times this week! Today, it's #56.

In their top 100 music videos, BLUE BIRD and a couple of live videos have popped up.

The album was out of top 300 for two weeks, but what a little promo on tv can do... this makes me think about how much she still could manage to sell with adequate promotion

Yeah, Ayu has said that most of her salary comes now from merchandising. Every time she puts out a new single/album and makes the rounds, her old music gets a boost; every time she tours, she sells goods. For a legacy artist, money comes from multiple streams even without new big hits.

i dont believe that her salary comes from merch, nowadays she must already have tons invested on stock markets

The CD only cover is the most beautiful IMO!

I guess the money she uses to mantain her lifestyle comes from personal investment, but the money from merch and commercial deals are used to invest on her career and artist projects (like the tours).
