I would rate fairyland as an A grade song from ayu if HAL didn't ruin it by introducing a long painful boring bridge after the 2nd chorus. Seriously nowadays I prefer BLUE BIRD over fairyland just because of that stupid bridge. It just sucks away my excitement from listening fairyland. And somehow HAL managed to make glitter and BLUE BIRD sounds similar to fairyland when actually those songs were composed by different people. Geez..

And yeah, tasuku is really good (probly great) just looking at the list. I admit that even tho I dun like GREEN, at least it has a different arrangement than HAL's recent works.

And Tetsuya Yukumi (the one who composed her works rite? I dun wanna mess up this time).. Again like I said before, I only like 5 or 6 of his works he done for ayu.

truehappiness 29th May 2010 04:17 AM

Yes, Yukumi composes. He has the most songs done (24 or so) out of any composer she's worked with.

I think the bridge works. I love that dramatic interpretive dance-y portion of the song, haha. It makes the song super long, but the song in general is just so good that I don't really care how long it is. I wonder if it was always in there when tasuku composed it or if it was added afterwards to make the PV seem more dramatic?

Crystal_Ageha 29th May 2010 04:28 AM

Oh my gosh, the fairyland bridge is one of the few I really love, hah! Especially when I'm watching the PV, because it's so dramatic. I love how it builds up. :heart

bluegie 29th May 2010 04:34 AM

LOL I guess I'm the only one who hate that bridge then :P.

That's a good question tho TH. I wonder if tasuku composed that part as well..

tasuku's only composition with Ayu is fairyland (which is amazing) haha but he has a lot of arrangements done with her since... RAINBOW?

All of his arrangements are just so... LOVE.

tasuku's arrangement work with Ayu:
* I am... (共同編曲)
* Daybreak (編曲)
* taskinlude (作曲・編曲)
* no more words (共同編曲)
* independent (編曲)
* July 1st (編曲)
* Heartplace (編曲)
* taskinillusion (作曲・編曲)
* HANABI 〜episode II〜 (編曲)
* Memorial address (編曲)
* About You (編曲)
* Will (編曲)
* (miss)understood (編曲)
* In The Corner (編曲)
* tasking (作曲・編曲)
* Beautiful Day (編曲)
* Ladies Night 〜another night〜 (リアレンジ/rearrange)
* It was (編曲)
* taskinst (作曲・編曲)
* GREEN (編曲)

Wow, I really need to pay more attention to Ayu's composers and arrangers so I can be properly excited (when and if) they're announced to be working with her, lol. He's worked on some amazing songs. :love Yuta has a excellent line-up of compositions as well. I'm surprised he's related to HAL (I second bluegie on the GUILTY comment, lol).

These past two pages have been very interesting to read. I've never made the connection between M, F&E, and momentum (besides the whole synth and "build-up" but I figured that was just a part of Ayu's style anyway). It's no wonder I love all three of those songs to pieces, lol. :P

He -was- related to HAL. He left the group to pursue some solo work, I guess. (2002/2003 is when I pinpoint his leaving...)

ats- (Atsushi Sato) was the other member of HAL that left a while before Yuta did in 2002. ats- does lyrics (probably when HAL had HALna and was an actual group) and also arranges. He doesn't do work with Ayu though. (http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ats-)

Hmmn, I'm not sure if the English wiki is reliable or not, but it said Yuta left HAL in early 2001. But in RAINBOW's Japanese wiki, it stated:

Quote:

So... was he still in the group during 2002 then..?

truehappiness 29th May 2010 06:17 AM

On the Japanese wiki for HAL, they have February 2003 as when Yuta/Atsushi Sato left.

I guess they restructured the group at that time? I dunno.

I think HAL just occasionally switched members in and out until people left for good.

Nope, I don't like it much either. I listen to it a LOT now that it's Summer, and everytime it gets to the bridge when I'm at work having a cigarette I'm like "ok, come on now" - Lol. I love the little sound effect after Ayu brings the chorus back in softly and then it does this little funky thing and the chorus like POWS back in. But yeah, I sometimes fast forward the bridge on my iPod. Lol.

Although I can appreciate it.

bluegie 29th May 2010 07:28 AM

I usually just skip to another track after it hits the bridge.. That's why fairyland is low on play counts in my iTunes..

truehappiness 29th May 2010 08:56 AM

I could play fairyland for days just like ANGEL'S SONG and Sunrise...

Did you know that Sunrise has over eight hun--- never mind.

Haha, it's okay, I play Sunrise a lot too :P Though amongst those three I listen to ANGEL'S SONG the most :D (Though that post just inspired something for the chat-room section...)

I really want tasuku back, look at his list of arrangments I think he's definitely got some extremely strong songs in that department, and he also proves to be able to do a great variety of types of music. I definitely think that out of most of her arrangers he's shown that he can do some of the most. Out of the songs that he's arranged, the ones in bold are the ones that for me personally I love the sound of.

* Daybreak (編曲)
* taskinlude (作曲・編曲)

I just hope it'll be a great song, not really liking MOON/blossom based from the previews hopefully I'll like it more when I hear the full versions.

relmy 30th May 2010 02:14 AM

Oh my gosh, every song this guy has composed is epic. SURREAL is my favourite Ayu song. That list is just a list of classic Ayu songs.

I am MORE than excited now.

Pieces_of_SEVEN 30th May 2010 02:33 AM

^^I agree. This should be good.

OMG, you listen to the whole beginning and don't even hear the best part then! The part right after the bridge is the best. Like the last BANG of the track. It's powerful and FUN!

bluegie 30th May 2010 01:16 PM

^Yes, I admit that the part of the long bridge is really good.. I wish there's a shorter bridge version, like the one they used during live. :)

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaay! So excited to know that Kikuchi is back!

At this point, I have a feeling that the next album is going to be a 2-disc extravaganza lol. There's so much potential epicness involved in all the leaked news we've been seeing lately in order for this to be just an ordinary album. :D

truehappiness 1st June 2010 08:33 PM

There's a new LUMIX FX series camera coming out. It's expected that the CM for it will probably be out in August. (around the same time that the camera comes out)

We'll see since there are 2 more singles after MOON / blossom.
