For the single to have charted within the top 10, for it's first week, is a huge accomplishment in itself & totally something for ayu to be very proud of! :D Even more so, since it charted within the top 5. :) This single deserved good sales & a great charting position, so I'm very happy. :) Go ayu! :heart

Digital sales:

1st week: #1
2nd week: #2

and on the daily rankings for the 3rd week she's still on #2!
And A BEST keeps on #5 week after week LOL

Can now anybody say that she is not on top? This is digital distribution era, few years ago i stopped buying games in physical copies and started getting only digital versions. She does fantastically digitially.

Can the digital sales be counted as well in the origin charts? It's ridiculous that they are not, we don't have a clear impression of what's popular

pimenta 31st December 2014 11:44 AM

It's kinda funny when you compare oricon and recochoku positions, because on recochoku many times those same artists that do amazing on oricon are behind artists with much lower sales there.

For example, Ayu's single actually outsold TVXQ's new full album on recochoku, and it was the 1st week for both.

I really wish there was a ranking that considered both digital and physical sales, only then we would get a true view of the sales situation.

It doesn't inlcude poker face and YOU since they didn't enter the top 10.

Dream ON is under URATA NAOYA and a song is born isn't counted as an ayu single (like the others).

^ They didn't include Terminal either. It didn't even manage to get in the top 20, which is even sadder.

Well, it's a recut single with no PV and just one remix, which isn't that great.
It wasn't expected to do much.

This single, on the other hand, is doing pretty well.

I agree they should join physical and digital sells in one chart.

I know. I'm saying that technically she has 52 WITH Dream ON and a song is born since they're featuring credits. Most charts include collaborations with an artists total (Billboard, OOC, etc.) so I'm not sure why Oricon doesn't. :dead2

pimenta 1st January 2015 08:17 AM

^ Maybe oricon doesn't count those because Avex doesn't do it either? a song is born and Dream ON were never included in her singles count by Avex, so maybe that's why oricon wouldn't count those as her singles either. idk, just speculating...

Oricon should track iTunes sales as well. Japan really loves iPhone. :D

Corvina 1st January 2015 02:26 PM

Oricon should count digital sales for sure. But they actually missed the prime time for digital sales as those are going down already as well. Compared to 2006 there aren't that much certificafions for digital sales. At least that's what is officially released.
Sales are lower in general.
But if it goes on like that Oricon has to merge physical and digital together.

Pieces_of_SEVEN 1st January 2015 02:51 PM

I'm so sick of waiting for Oricon to count digital sales. I feel like we definitely do not get an accurate representation of her sales. I feel like only hardcore fans by the physical releases...and 60% or more just buy the music digitally.

I saw some people talking shit about the sales figures and I was like...well, where is your fave on the charts? She got number 2 with this single, and I don't even know how much number 3 sold...

LONJJONG 5th January 2015 12:36 PM

Huge drop for the single today. #34.

Why? digital market has been decreasing that it's not important anymore
