That's a great cover. Hurt is actually one of my least favourite songs on the album, but it's different from ANOM and I hope it inspires some of those people who weren't too fond of ANOM to buy BTB.

^Yeah I don't like Hurt much either.
I wanted her to do Candyman.
Even though I don't know how the
lyrics will go with some folks.

I don't think many would care...she preformed it live recently, (with a few censor to like "cherry" I think) I would also like to see CandyMan as a single :P

I'm not too fond of Hurt, but I'm hardly surpised it became a single. By far it has the most memorable and beautiful melody on the album, but the lyrics are just so painfully melodramatic that they almost ruin the song for me. Candyman would have made a better second single in my opinion, with a big ballad like Hurt or The Right Man reserved for the third or fourth single. Ultimately, it really doesn't matter though, because Candyman will eventually become a single. I'm not sure why people think Candyman's lyrics will cause controversy, they are much more cheeky and fun than risquee or provacative.

I've lsitened to it couple of days ago
nothing special, really :no
but I like that 'Jazzy' feeling and theme :)

I recieved my copy on Friday and I gotta say this album is totally awesome~!!! I loved all the songs on it but I needed to listen to them thrice to really hear everything. It's way better than Stripped. My favourite songs have to be Oh Mother and Ain't No Other Man but the rest is really awesome too~ I love the fan dedication track~ shes such a sweetheart with her fans. This album is for sure a masterpiece...I love it!

I really don't like this album. Its ALL 40's music. I thought "Ain't no other man" would be the only one..

I like this review of Hurt.

Quote:

What can you do when you lose someone? And not only do you have to deal with the grief of their death and missing them terribly, but also the haunting guilt you feel for what you've done to them or not forgiving them for what they've done to you. There is no time left - they're gone. And now it's just you and your "hurt."

The song doesn't get officially released until October 23, but it's already gaining a ridiculous number of spins on radio - faster even, than Fall competitor Beyonce's "Ring The Alarm," which has actually been out longer. "Hurt" seems to be poised for another top 10 run similar to that of Aguilera's current single "Ain't No Other Man," which, months after its release, is still gaining airplay spins according to Mediabase.

Even Chuck Taylor of Billboard magazine raves "The force of her vocal as she relates the pain of moving past a relationship in ruins is daunting, with a melody and lush production that carries this potential Grammy Award contender into the clouds."

I do lovde the album - the booklet is EXCELLENT, the songs are great, her voice is in top shape... but it does feel a bit samey. i know, cohesiveness and all, but part of the charm of Stripped was it felt like a rainy day and had different styles mixed in.

This was worth the wait, though. That being said, I HATE Thank You (Dedication to Fans). It's not. It's a self-absorbed, "look how wonderful I am I inspire all these people and make their lives better! I'm a messiah!" piece of ego-boosting rubbish. Look, it's nice to recieve compliments. I love recieving compliments. Having a healthy self-image is wodnerful. But don't lie about something like this - make it an actual dedication, or just admit how self-serving it is.

That out of the way, I do love the rest, even if she pushes the "jazz legends" theme too far with Back in the Day. Really, we get it.

Many people seem to be in a debate with that song. Personally, I think it's exactly what it is, a dedication to the fans. She greatful that they buy her music and enjoy it. I don't see the whole "messiah" bit that everyone else wants to see. Whatever. Everyone has a different interpretation of everything. It's not one of my favored songs anyway ^_^.

spookshow 20th September 2006 12:31 AM

^ I do see "thankyou" as a dedication to all us fans... if i were christina with all her success i'd be thanking everyone too! but i don't really like the track... i think an interlude would have been fine (or even a bonus hidden track)

ooh! the new Diddy song ft Christina Aguilera has leaked! pretty funky stuff! I love this song! it's not at all like her B2B old-school stuff

Jayee19 20th September 2006 01:10 AM

Yeah. An interlude would've been a better idea.

Ooooh! Thanks for the link!
