I will make sure to shut my eyes during that sequence. If I manage to time the shutting of my eyes correctly I might be able to die happy some time in the future.

I remember it so clearly as outstanding when it was live, the vocals really was different, very different from the original version, but this one from the DVD isn't too different. Bad bad avex.

Oh well, still sounds awesome.

But isn't the DVD the last performance in Tokyo. I didn't know you went to that one

darc_aqua 4th November 2006 03:50 PM

after watching alterna, i have to say I extremely love this tour. Such a surreal performance. I really think they edited her voice here cause it sounds amazing. trying so hard not too look at any other performances.

elvis810 4th November 2006 03:58 PM

I still haven't watched any of the clips! I'm waiting for HK version to be out!
But it may take 2 more weeks........sad... I can wait!

It looks like (miss)understood is going to be my favorite performance on this tour. I LOVE this one, can't stop watching it. is this LOVE? was amazing too. These two are probably going to be the highlight of the tour for me.

Pride was an excellent performance, I guess I underestimated her with this one. B&D was good, except it didn't seem as high-energy as I expected to be (especially as a finale). The one at CDL was a lot more fun, I think.

It was such a beautiful performance :luv2 everything about it gave me the chills!! the intro to it, even the weird things happening to the pillars!! I loved it!!

andre2907 4th November 2006 04:46 PM

I finally finished watching it. It's a nice concert, but AT 2005 was much better.

truehappiness 4th November 2006 04:49 PM

:<

I think it's weird how like the new concert to compare to is AT05 LOL

It used to be Dome Tour 2001.. but I guess the bar's been set.

Honestly, it's sort of weird how the majority of opinions about AT06 have something to do with AT05... but then again, this tends to happen with all Ayu releases recently~

I was not at the last performances, neither was Sunshine, I was at two performances and that gave me enough experience to judge that she can't have sung it that much differently.

I thought they matched perfectly seeing as she was a "flower" and they were "grass" - cute

truehappiness 4th November 2006 05:13 PM

I imagine that in Born To Be.. they're supposed to be 'those who worship' and Ayu is some flower-goddess.

They do make a lot of worshippy movements, right? :O

immel 4th November 2006 05:15 PM

Somehow the exotic dresses the dancers wore during BTB... really impressed me. I loved them to bits.

They complimented the performance I think. They were like normal weed, and Ayu was the lone rose in the middle of the field.

ayu1m 4th November 2006 05:18 PM

What I've seen, I loved her outfit on alterna and the dancers outfits were amazing aswell :yes

happytoadstool 4th November 2006 05:39 PM

Love the tour. very nice. It was also weird how the songs i anticipated the most turned out just ok, while those which I had very low expectations turned out to be really amazing. Ladies night was my most eagerly awaited perf, but i thought the performance was a bit dull (especially the vocals). alterna was a bit boring as well. startin was very similar to other startin lives, and i thought maybe they would shake things up a bit.
Born to be rainy day and step you lived up to my expectations though. but what blew me away was actually the middle section which i thought would be the boring parts (is this love, (miss) understood, and pride (surprisingly! since i find the song boring)). wow... blew me away.

I think it's a really good outfit, very tame in comparison with the other outfits that were used in the tour..

I think it could be compared with the About You paint outfit from AT05. It was sorta awkward, but looked amazing! <3

About it being robotic and stuff.. I think that it's just that it's the silver/blue combination that leads you to think so.. but it's a very 'gentle' combination to look at. If anything, she looks amazingly HOT with the hair that she had during that segment..

-drools-

Comment on the Born to Be.. singing:
After seeing the intro+BtB.. clip like 203120310231203 times, I can say that the way she sings it in the concert is superior to the CD-version.. zomg <33

Comment on lighting:
Rather than be like most ARENA TOURS, don't most of the performances have some sort of video going on in the background instead of lighting? Or is that just Born to Be..? D:

I do tend to be partial to her rock songs, but I didn't LOVE the alterna performance even though it is one of my all-time favorite Ayu songs. (if you go back and read my original review of the live show you'll see that even then I would have preferred alterna to be performed differently.) I preferred is this LOVE? and (miss) understood because it was just her and the band and she really gets into it.

If you liked the performance of is this LOVE? at a-nation 05 - it's a lot like that performance. Of course I'm sure that people will find little vocal things to nit pick though. :irked

Oh, I LOVED the a-nation '05 is this LOVE? performance!

I'm also partial to her rock songs. I agree about alterna. Visually I really liked it, and it is one of my all time favorite songs, but vocally it didn't blow me away. I love when she interacts with her band so I'm super excited for these perfomances.

The only one that may possibly have been lip synched from the start is Ladies Night, but I'm not 100% sure. Step YOU and alterna however I'm sure were live.

That sucks. I hate that avex tampers with the vocals. I want to hear what she actually sounds like, not some voice that has been tampered into perfection.:grumpy

truehappiness 4th November 2006 06:41 PM

I don't think it's tampered to PERFECTION per se.. it just probably doesn't sound... ... eh.. -gives up explaining- :p

Yeah, also it's just fairly obvious on the DVD that she is jerking around sooo much that there is no way she could have produced those kinds of vocals - especially when you compare it to the performances on the dvd where it is obvious she is singing live.

I was almost about to say "trust me, you don't always want to."... but I restrained myself.

At least they weren't shy with using the special screens, to play light effects/"movies" on them.

Ayu was not very often on the background screen, either there was something else on it or it was turned off. She was always in focus on the side screens, though.
