I think that will depend on how well the new songs are received and how much TV promo is she going to do this time. If nothing changes we can only hope it reaches 300k~

I don't know why, but I really have a feeling it will do better than NEXT LEVEL did. Though hopefully there'll be good promotion for the album, since that will definitely help, and I think promotion for it should start in about a week to get people in Japan really into wanting to get it; like to give them something to look forward to, and a headstart will be good.

y_nathz 8th March 2010 11:04 AM

Hm I think this is more promosing than NEXT LEVEL..
Hope it'll sell great !! :D

sanzo2011 8th March 2010 11:15 AM

i don't put much hope into this album ! 300k->350k 's great 'cause even NL has very strong singles , it also didn't sell well .

Cherry Dynamite 8th March 2010 11:20 AM

Hopefully it'll sell more than or at least as much as NEXT LEVEL.
Hopefully it'll get uber promotions.

Tony G 8th March 2010 11:30 AM

Everyone said NEXT LEVEL would sell better than GUILTY based on the hype on a forum where a large percentage of the members won't even buy her CD. Now the internet hype is even greater, and people automatically assume it will equal album sales. Hate it to break it to you, but I doubt the album's going to go above, like what most people said, 300k - 350k.

I think the promotion is going to be similar to how NEXT LEVEL was. With a tour looming, she doesn't have time for TV lives or any serious promotion that's going to significantly drive her sales up. I think avex have realised that existing fans are only going to be the ones who will buy an ayu album, and you don't need to promote much to get them to buy the album. Winning new fans at her stage in the career requires something pretty special, but won't happen because of her tour schedule.

I would say that digitally, the singles post-NEXT LEVEL have done really well compared to Days/GREEN and Rule/Sparkle.

Eh? Really? People thought NEXT LEVEL would sell better than GUILTY? With crappy promotion like that, uh... yeah... (wasn't around at the time.)

I'd say it's possible, and that there's no need to be such a downer about this. Hopefully Ayu is able to make people who aren't confident about her sales eat their words with the sales for this album...

She will at least be able to break into the top 10 with her first week... [probably...]

Can't wait for covers to come out. Some rock-lolita theme would be great. <3

Yeah, really. Most fans probably agree NEXT LEVEL was a better album than GUILTY and therefore would sell more, but that wasn't the result. I definitely remember a lot of that talk around the forum this time last year. In fact, it seems to happen with every new album - this is going to be the "one" to make her sales skyrocket again. So I'm not being totally unreasonable thinking it will probably sell around the same as NEXT LEVEL if we are lucky. And I don't think, promotion wise, its going to be very different to last year. She's wacked her tour straight after her album release (even after a few shows this time). Didn't work out for her last time? Only one TV live. She's still recording, still rehearsing for her tour, just a nice little repeat of last year.

Well, I don't, but then again, I wasn't active at the forum at the time. I remember basically not really caring that NEXT LEVEL was coming out and being really "...." about everything even though I was slightly excited despite personal problems at the time.

She mentioned promotional activities in her latest blog entry. I feel as though she will probably be on just as many magazines, and maybe 2-3 TV shows. Anything is better than nothing. She might also appear on the radio once or twice a la NEXT LEVEL.

Well, very rarely do sales go up from album to album for artists nowadays. (Exceptions are new acts and Namie Amuro's recent resurgence.) Usually it's a downhill ride, but I think with this album, there might be more incentive for more people to get it. Who knows... we'll only now when the release date comes and sales figures are confirmed on the first day...

I think that this album will be lucky to hit 320k+, but I feel as though it's SLIGHTLY possible [10%~ chance?] to sell 400k...

Tony G 8th March 2010 11:54 AM

Even I thought NEXT LEVEL would sell better than GUILTY just based on how much better of an album it was. It wasn't depressing and dark (japanese don't seem to like that) and sounded a lot more modern, plus there was a lot of experimentation with her sound. This is exactly what she needed to do to surge her sales again, but it didn't work. Why? Who knows. Could have been promotion, could have been declining sales, and could have been the fact that the wider japanese public don't really react to a new ayumi release. I just don't feel those reasons are going to change with this album. Existing ayu fans will lap it up but it won't convert new fans to get buying.

Then again, I'm talking without even hearing a single song off the album. So a lot of this is really premature. I really want her to sell well again. But signs right now point to a repeat of last year. A couple of extra TV lives won't make much of a difference. Magazine spreads, might work. I think she has to rely on some good circulation of her new PVs on music TV shows. They sound amazing, and might make all the difference.

lucky me that I was clever enought to order the box at YA and not wait for TA... LOL

ok... hmmm can people tell me what's/how looks a pen case and a hand phone stand??

anyway... doesn't sound like a big gift, so I'm gonna wait for YAJ to buy them if they are great... because mu-mo/TA doesn't give the extra gift we know right?

btw... look at the logo in the TA official shop:

When I saved it the name was "roc" can it be... "rock"?? can it be a prelude of the kind of colors we can expect for the covers and soo?? hehehe

njanjayrp 8th March 2010 12:00 PM

@Tony G - it's true, many thought NL would outsell GUILTY (I thought it would sell around 400k and I wasn't very far from being right lol). I did have my hopes up too back at the time and I don't wanna be a downer, but it's not really realistic to assume it will outsell NEXT LEVEL just like that, Ayu's album sales haven't gone up since Duty, so I think that it selling around 300k should be the most "realistic" assumption. However I do hope I'll eat my words :P

I was actually one of the people that didn't think that NL would outsell GUILTY. Despite having extremely powerful singles, I didn't think NL was going to do that greatly for some reason.

As for promotion... The current tour is one of her longest, isn't it? That'll definitely get people commenting; music shows eat this sort of stuff up when artists are on long tours and such. She's given a good mention of promotion in her blog entries, so this means she'll have a relatively decent amount of magazines to be promoted in. I'm sure she'll squeeze a few TV shows into it also, or possible a few radio shows.

I hate to guess sales really but I'd say 400k or 450k would be really good. I definitely think she can make it with this.

Wait. Besides the longest tour this year, I'm sure Ayu did mention in MS Super Live that she was planning to make a lot more TV appearance this year compared to previous years, didn't she? :(

I can't be certain, but I think she has said this.

njanjayrp 8th March 2010 12:46 PM

^ I dunno. For her to sell over 400k the album would really need to be well received. Just consider that Kumi has little chances of reaching 400k with an album + best of (actually I don't think she'll reach 400k at all). And seeing that Namie will barely outsell GUILTY with PAST<FUTURE, I don't really see Rock'n'Roll Circus selling over 400k even though that would be amazing.

And nope she only said it's her longest tour up to date as far as I recall.

You're right... It's not exactly if the album is good or bad... It's more about the moment... Maybe R'n'R C couldn't seel that much.... But I'm hoping that it will be better than NL! (And I love NL *-*)
