Yes. Seriously.
I hate idiot fans...of all artists.
I'm just gonna say this, I think, that even though originality is probably dead these days, what I consider "original" is these artists' work that is true to themselves, and no one else.
Something I would consider "unoriginal" is when someone sees something, and says "ooo that's gonna be my image next." Now...there are exceptions of course, but someone who is wholly unoriginal, is someone that isn't true to who they are, and just uses the image as a way to get more popular by trying to exploit tastes.
Now, people may not agree with me...but I'm really tired of people bashing all of these artists saying they aren't original, and so and so did this back then, and whatever...just putting emphasis on the whole, who copied who, or who is better than who discussion.
I guess it's not really anyone's fault...I mean, there are world corporations fighting over stuff like this...but honestly, when it comes down to actual people, and especially two eccentric, free, and honest people like Ayu and Gaga, this discussion just makes everyone look retarded.

I agree with emiko. Everybody has to start with an inspiration, things that they love and enjoy. What makes them original is being able to combine these things with truely who they are, to create something that only they could, because it comes from themselves. (does that make sense?) Someone who takes or wears someone else's design for an 'original image', is someone who isn't.
I don't hate Lady GaGa, I listen to her songs and i'm glad she is bringing some alternative fashion back to western pop, but that fashion she wears has always been around. I do believe she is given credit too much for what she wears when she did not make what she wears. It's mostly made by alternative, Japanese, fetish and other designers and I think they deserve the credit because they're the ones who did the hard work.
I have a keen interest in Alternative fashion, Japanese fashion and also Fetish fashion (something Lady GaGa also wears) being a photographer, so I recognized what she wears instantly. And I was excited to see a western pop star in this decade wear this type of fashion.
What I don't find original about GaGa is the only thing she is singing about in her songs in Sex. But with no meaning? If she actually took sexuality and turned it into something deep and original with meaning coming from her personal feelings and experiences, then in that retrospect I would then see her as original.
That's just my opinnion though. I'm not here to bash because it is pointless to me. Every artist is different in who they are, which is why comparing is pointless, because they'll always be different people.
Music is not a battle, it's supposed to be about expressing yourself, who you are as a person, your feelings, your experiences, and no one can copy that. Cause those memories and thoughts are like a personal fingerprint, to you.
That's what it is to me anyway. :)
SORRY my post is so long I had to get that out. O.O
