Most are u guys are being a little to serious about this...like someone else said....THIS JUST THE FIRST DAY, GIVE IT SOME MORE TIME! Jeez, this is NOT her 1st week sales! It's her FIRST day sales (or index or estimate!). It's not the end of the world, so just relax and wait til her TRUE sales are in. I still think it's sale over 100k it's first week!

ayu_fan929 20th September 2007 03:18 AM

Well again, for nearly all releases the 1st day sales are the highest (i.e. 1st day sales of glitter/fated = 37% of 1st week). Of course this could be an exception...

bluegie 20th September 2007 03:27 AM

no, i dun think avex will let DBSK overtaken ayu. If something doesn't sound rite, I bet avex will cut down the storage of DBSK single in some stores.. (since rhythmzone is under avex anywayz) :P. They have to make sure their queen maintain the no. 1 streak. (Besides, ayu is from Japan, while DBSK is from Korea.) :D.

Luv ~Venus~ 20th September 2007 03:29 AM

Well, they'll be LOW for their own standards. I mean, Ayu needs a challenge and stop takin' the easy route (Although I can't blame AVEX for what their doing). She can't be on top forever like most people have said and to which I agree too.

Yeah. If it did really get close all avex would do is to cut/delay shipments of DBSK's single so that Ayu could get #1.

It's true that tastes are subjective but I have to say that if an artists ever dares to experiment, their sales are probable to drop. Most of the time artists have to stick to a single formula and try to be innovative at the same time which usually leads to a series of boring singles. It's very frustrating seeing certain artists work so hard and release something different yet sell so low. Hitomi Shimatani is one huge example.

In the end though scoring a #1 is still a feat, especially for someone who's been around as long as Ayu. I think usually her rock songs are pretty much liked in Japan. Both INSPIRE and STEP you had decent sales but then they had some pop influences too. I still think this single has potential to sell pretty well but some stuff should've been better.

oh well it's the Japanese industry. Releasing at a time with no competitors requires a certain level of statue. I mean, if ayu ain't that great, who would allow her to release on a week that will guarantee making her weekly no. 1? Companies between must have some agreements that allow B'z, Mr. Children, ayu, KinKi Kids, etc. to maintain their no. 1 streaks.

Of course, one day when ayu can't even beat the low competitors, her streak will be broken so it doesn't matter when to release her singles. But at this point avex will try the best to save the streak.

Hikki is another example. That's why we dun see her getting the usual no. 1 as it was back to be. Although it's good that she still maintain in top 3 somehow (and plus excellent digital downloads).

I dun think ayu can create a super new stuff unless it's sure that that innovative song will maintain her no. 1 streak. Just look at BnD. I guess everyone agrees that it's something really new from ayu... But look at its sales and how it affected (miss)understood's sales.. I guess it's a gift that BnD could maintain weekly no. 1 even tho it only had one daily no. 1... so fortunate..

Deep snow 20th September 2007 04:08 AM

i hope it breaks 100k. Lord help us

ayumixfan 20th September 2007 06:34 AM

Its not that bad for a rock single sale >_<! lol I personally dont think japan likes ayumi's rock, but I'm sure it will grow on them. It grew on me and I don't really like rock. Anyways I doubt japan has bad taste. They probably just perfer ballad and pop. Glitter/Fated did pretty well so I guess it explains something. Maybe avex is just trying to give this single a longer chart run. Thats why they're spreading out the performances and probably will have more promotional stuff in store for later.

Nah nah nah nah nah.

I think it all comes down to the fact that this single was just really sorry, and the PV's were really sorry too.

japanese people are fine with her other rock songs, just since these rock songs werent that good, the response wasn't as good.

I kind of admire the fact that Hikki is more about music and less about ranking #1. She seems to have more freedom in releasing whatever she likes. It's just a rank in the end though Ayu has more pressure to maintain that streak she has now so she tries to retain a certain formula.

She was lucky with BnD, she seriously had the chance to lose #1 and t2m sounds like a bit too experimental for Japan once again. It's a shame though because both singles were fairly good. I suppose going more rock than pop-rock (like she did with INSPIRE/STEP you) is not gonna help. I still think it's a shame though that Japan cannot seem to widely accept experimental music because it limits creative freedom and forces artists to sound like the same old thing, over and over... :rolleyes If they care about sales, that is.

I agree...I think it's that way 'cause humans tend to be resistant to change and all. Then again, Koda Kumi's "Yume no Uta" and "Ai no Uta" are rather typical ballads IMO and yet AnU is not selling as much as YnU. Or maybe people are just tired of KK lately :shrug :laugh

I also agree about Shimatani Hitomi. From Latin stuff like PASIO to garage rock like Dragonfly...she's a chameleon! Too bad she isn't nearly as appreciated as she should be.

But back on topic, about Bold&Delicious...I actually forgot about that. That kind of music style is a much bigger change than t2m is, and she managed to hold #1 with it, so there may still be hope for t2m yet! But then again, for 2005 Ayu managed to get 300,000+ sales for all her singles up until B&D, but the same can't be said for t2m. Her sales are mostly in the 100k-200k range, with the exception of BLUE BIRD. Ultimately I think it comes down to both the experimental factor plus the slump in the industry/rise of new artists but yeah. We still have the entire week. :yes

njanjayrp 20th September 2007 08:19 AM

I am pretty sure the single will sell over 100 k, and Ai No Uta is really not as good as Yume No Uta, so I kinda expected it to have lower sales XD, the good thing about Hikki is that she has a long chart run. and small weekly drops, though lately I haven't been a fan of her music much, as the last single I loved was Keep Tryin'.And Ayu has done harder rock songs like the 2 before (is this LOVE? & Humming 7/4 for example) and I never thought of talkin' 2 myself as an experiment as Ayu has a pretty big number of rock songs.

ayu1m 20th September 2007 08:57 AM

My t2m CD+DVD shipped today :yes

Kuu shouldn't release Cherry Girl/Unmei before Black Cherry. That single really cursed kuu's single/album sales with no reason at all. Before that single (and after the 12-single era), all kuu's singles managed to sell over 140K each on the first week and over 200K in the end. That single dragged kuu's sales down to 60K - 70K sales (except FREAKY... but that's like a 4A).

Same goes to ayu. Everything was fine until BnD. From then on ayu sales declined. BLUE BIRD was the exception because avex did put more efforts on promoting this single.

Oh well hopefully ayu can sale over 90K at least for t2m on the first week :D.

SkyDefender! 20th September 2007 09:25 AM

TERRIBLE o__O even i didnt think ayumi can sell so badly

she will end up selling less than mika, utada, koda and ai's latest singles and theres no excuse for the poor sales

KuroixShiroi_Namida 20th September 2007 09:30 AM

Omg, if DBSK beats ayu...how depressing XD!

[taskin.ayu] 20th September 2007 09:47 AM

Even though these are first day sales, they are really BAD first day sales. :/ I wonder if it can sell more than 100K. :/

I guess her pop rock style isn't very liked in Japan.. I hope it doesn't stop her releasing more of this in the future though. D:

Can u sell less than Mika :p, and I don't see a point of all of this pessimism. It's needless, and talking stuff like "It won't sell.. bla bla" isn't going to help.I say we wait until the first week is over, though I think nothing will change even if it doesn't top the charts which I am sure it will.
