Although it is about 10.000 less than Days/GREEN first day's index sales (35.000), it's still good, considering that D/G was a double A side and it had PVs for both songs.

If R/S gets at least 10.000 second day's index, there is no way it won't get no.1 sales for this week.

Just as keikeiaznqueen said, longevity please !

Dude you've got to calm down. D/G's first day sales index was 26k and Mirrorcle World's was 22k (if i remember correctly cos i'm not double-checking any facts) so this is somewhere in between and it's waaay better than what i expected. When i was checking the oricon website, my only thought was "please don't stink" and a 20k+ first day sales is great!

Compared to the other releases who released with under 10k, the no.1 is in the bag so relax and enjoy the ride :)

njanjayrp 25th February 2009 03:26 PM

People these sales are great! If the index doesn't fall below 15k tomorrow it's safe to say the single will sell close to glitter/fated!! I am really surprised as considering ultra weak (none) promotional performances and all the album news - this is amazing.

And didn't I say DCT can't hurt Ayu? They ranked lower than Otsuka's recut. lol

babamon 25th February 2009 03:28 PM

Actually, D/G's first day sales index was 35,116 and MW was 21,355.

Rule/Sparkle gotten ard 24k without much promo. So i'd say it's doing pretty well now :) Not to forget when Ayu's done with the new album perhaps she would start her promo.

love in music 25th February 2009 03:38 PM

i'm so happy for her! this is great

KarenPang 25th February 2009 03:39 PM

:yes

considering that she's the only 1 that has 24K+ & subsequently flumpool & abs's sales figures are in the 5-6K+ range , I'm quite sure that she has a good chance of staying #1 at this rate , ie. if there're no futher upsets in time to come

The Oricon charts is the first thing I checked this morning! And among other pleasant surprises today, this is one of the best! I was very worried for the same reasons others were, but these sales are nothing less than fantastic (considering the odds against it). I hope it doesn't have a drastic drop tomorrow! Keep it up Rule/Sparkle!

B&D's chart run was 7 weeks and, at those times, it sold 130k.

It would be great for R/S to chart for the same period of time and sell somewhere around 100k.

Ah, like that. I thought you meant in sales, not with staying in the charts. Because the sales will most likely be completely dead after a few days. xD

Sincerely, I wasn't expecting this kind of index for the first day. Almost every thread opened on AHS where the discussion focused on R/S mentioned the terrible lack of promotion (SunshineSlayer was one of the first which pointed this out when talking about her visit in Japan) and the fact that NL's release announcement would just kill R/S (I don't think I've seen someone not to agree with this, except those who put very high hopes on DBE). Another threat was represented by some of the artists which would release singles/albums on the same day and so they would steal one from each other's sales.

Considering the above mentioned elements, and my somewhat pessimistic character, I honestly feared for the #1 streak. Not that breaking the streak would mean that ayu's music got worse later, that is for the listeners, taken one by one, to decide. Also, not that Ayu wouldn't become the artist in Japan with the most no. 1 consecutive singles. All of these criteria would have had significance 7,8,9 years ago, when Ayu didn't had the status that she has today.

The reason I feared the most was that if the streak would be broken, this would imply the end of a beautiful friendship (dis-quoting from Casablanca) between Ayu and Japan's music industry. Losing the streak, and not getting back on dominant positions, would give more chances to other jpop female artists to claim the sovereignty that Ayu created. This would mean less promotion for her, less attention from the media and, ultimately, less fans. The outcome of the latter would probably be Avex's loss of interest to promote Ayu as it's main artist and try to replace her. It is like the domino effect - one piece falling after the other. And I don't want it to happen, although it will eventually do. :(

Btw, you should check what you are saying or you could mislead others who take your word for granted. Or, even worse, your sayings shall not be considered trustworthy anylonger. ;)

You sounded pretty calm to me. ^^;

JinHamasaki 25th February 2009 04:56 PM

<- Pleasantly surprised :)

And if u think about it, R/S is way more profitable with just 1 "cheap" PV compared to the pricey GREEN pv AND Days PV.

Kenshi 25th February 2009 05:09 PM

I am NOT gonna let my guard down until one week later. XD

[Thinks back what happened to HEAVEN... >_<]

As sad as it sounds that will happen sooner or later (hopefully much later:yes). Anyways remember that we are kinda used to having the nice indexes on the first day of Ayu's single sales. Let's wait & see if it doesn't drop a lot tomorrow :) Surely she'll get #1, but it's too early to celebrate the sales XD

SolarAngel 25th February 2009 05:17 PM

^You don't think 24k is a nice index? Anyway, I'm more concerned about her album. I always saw her selling power more on the album front and if it's another Guilty or worse than Guilty, then I'd be more than somewhat crushed. If this single can sell like Glitter/fated or even better, Days/Green it'd be fantastic.

ren0210989 25th February 2009 05:18 PM

i think the sales are pretty good^^
but what i don't get is all the negativety and the whole "rushed album" talk again :rolleyes

No no no xD I think the index is great (the Rule/Sparkle one). Just that we should wait and see how much will the drop be :) But I am sure that it will end up selling close to glitter/fated if it manages to chart as long due to the release of NEXT LEVEL~ Hopefully NEXT LEVEL will be less "depressive" and dark than GUILTY was (ovarall) so it might be more appealing to casual listeners.

SolarAngel 25th February 2009 05:36 PM

^Lol at the depressive and dark. Well it's Dragonball! Shouldn't be too sombre. At least i feel Next Level might have a Dragonball-ish theme about it. Maybe the rushed album talk is due to Next Level having 'only' 13 tracks. As long as the songs are decent i don't think anyone should complain.

I don't really think it's rushed, instead of promoting the single Ayu is slowly making an album xD At least 1/3 of the songs are the single tracks, and imo Secret was more "rushed" than this. I doubt Ayu will fail us when it comes to the quality of the songs, as she never did, imo :)

ALfromHELLSING 25th February 2009 06:21 PM

Great sales without a big promo!! I'm so happy for Ayu! And my three copies somewhere in there too! ^_^ But there might not be, 'cause my order is not yet shipped... CD Japan! Hurry!!

Ayumiko 25th February 2009 06:57 PM

great first day sales! I was expecting lower sales coz of no promotion....but I expect second day's sales to drop like half.
