And what pisses me off is when some people in the states complain about how expensive an album is and that's why they pirate... I could get 5 US albums for one Japanese album...

I'm sick of that excuse too :rolleyes. I say to myself, but never out loud, "Well you know what? I know a bunch of freaks online that buy 4 versions of a CD single containing two and a half songs and end up spending $60!! That's fandom!" I'm talking about you guys! :heart :laugh

Well, the us is really cheap. Here it's the same, but in euros, so in the end it costs a bit more XD.
I read RIAJ's year book and found out something interesting:
In Japan, only a third of the amount of albums they sell in the US are sold. There's a difference of around 260million. In Japan they do sell 50million physical singles, as opposed to the 2 million in the US. All in All, in the US they sell around 210million more records than in Japan. Yet the profit numbers for both countries are VERY close alike XD.
Must be because of the ridiculous prices in Japan >.>

Yes it's like, let's say Ayu for example, sold 300K or so for her last album; that brings in around $30,000,000 in physical releases; an album in the US would have to sell 600,000 copies or so to get to that amount. And that's not counting the physical releases of the singles leading to the album, a concept that no longer exists in the US.

Yeah, plus I think it's amazing how Japanese singers can be so succesful Asiawide when their reach is much shorter than artists who sing in English!

That's right! Christina freaking Aguilera, who was a huge deal when I was a kid, has only sold like, 30 million albums worldwide. Ayu has managed to sell 50 million just in Asia, so I'm done with complaining about sales, I think, ever, at least for her.
