It takes me a second read to understand what you said (I dun study music lol). But I guess you're right. I can't remember what beloved sounds like (it's so forgettable), so can't comment on it. The piano opening of Why... is quite similar to JUJU's song (Ashita ga Kurunara), of course the beats are different. For the verse and chorus, I can't recall similarities with other songs, but the melody sounds familiar.

Anywayz, what attracts me tho is ayu's voice in Why. Her vocal sounds different than her recent stuff, and I love her vocal in Why. :P

Essentially, the composition of Why... is very formulaic. Most lines of the verse and chorus end in a leading tone - tonic - supertonic - tonic movement which is a highly conventional melodic cadence formula, and in terms of scale degrees and whole song is based on the melodic line of 1-2-3-5-2-1-7-1-2-1 (not the song's harmony). There is some tonicization of different keys in the chorus and bridge, but nothing unexpected like how CREA would have randomly modulated to distant keys.

Anyways, asides from that...I agree with how Ayu's vocals in Why... are so nice. For me, it seems to have this soothing R'n'B/Pop ballad quality like Aoyama's in "soba ni iru ne".

I think beloved just takes a bunch of listens to grow on you. It's not insanely catchy or anything, but eventually it worms its way in!

I think for a woman who has over ~200 original songs, everyone needs to give her a break once in a while, haha. You want a song like Mirrorcle World? Well good news, there is one already haha.

People want new and to Ayu this is pretty new. It still stands out within her discography since she doesn't have many collaborations.

it actually reminded me on thelma's collabs but I didnt want to bring another artist to the thread. but when thelma does it - it sounds much better, maybe cause those kind of ballads suits thelma more.

I'm really liking Why..., although it may not be a super unique song, it doesn't remind me of any of her other songs and I think her and JUNO's voice flow really well together

Why... is incredibly boring and I'm not sure how people are finding it to be so amazing. To each their own, I suppose.

I was not expecting JUNO to be the highlight in Why...:shakehead It's not too bad. I'm actually happy at the "short" length there's nothing worse than a unnecessary 1-2min on a song, especially with ballads.

can't help but still feel a bit disappointed tho this is by far her weakest album, from what we've heard anyway.

I like that the song is really easy to listen to. While some can listen to songs like microphone or mirrorcle world on repeat all day I get really bored with them. Once in a while I love listening to big songs, most of the time easy listening is my preferred choice. My top two songs that I've listened to are rainbow and forgiveness... Haha both of which are technically pretty boring. They just happen to be beautiful.

On the opposite side of things connected is also a pretty monotonous song, but it works fantastically well that way.

So yeah that's why I like it. :p

I actually like why... and Juno's voice is better than I expected. I'm liking the 3 songs so far :D
