She has the audacity to make a classical version of TSMGO and The (awful) GIFT but not Story bye ayu

Story is like one of my favorites! I have no idea why she isn't doing a classical version of it :( :(

Me too , Story is 1 of my favourite tracks in A ONE

And I can't understand the dislike towards The GIFT oO . Is it really that awful ? I'm happy that JJ Lin got to compose the song for her , Singaporean pride alert

The GIFT to me just is so forgettable, it doesn't stand out at all. I mean Ayu's voice sounds pretty in it but the melody itself is lackluster...just in my opinion.

If the whole album has new vocal, then we have something to talk about.

Asking Ayu to re-record vocals of songs she recorded just a few months ago. :rolleyes

DIARY, Winter DIARY. And we don't know yet.

@Pinguu : Your work is so amazing! You should try to tweet it to Ayu if you have twitter...

Fair enough it's fine , there's nothing wrong about it , I'm just puzzled why a lot of people dislikes The GIFT while for me , my least favourite album track in A ONE is Anything for you :x

Tokyohive - Hamasaki Ayumi to release a new classical album

Quote:

Hamasaki Ayumi's new classical album "Winter diary ~A7 Classical~' will drop in stores on December 23.

For this album, Hamasaki has hand-selected ten songs from her albums "A ONE" and "sixxxxxx" and gave them a classical arrangement. Among the ten songs, three of them, which are "WARNING", "NO FUTURE", and "The Show Must Go On", features violinist Okabe Machi.

As a special track, the album includes a new song called "Winter diary" written by Komuro Tetsuya. This song is said to be the sequel to the singer's 2015 summer tune "Summer diary".

I don't like Anything for you either! That is a boring track as well. Anyway I hope this new album will be beautiful, I'm sure it will be. I hope she takes a break after this for awhile and disappears for a bit, she needs to take time off...pumping out just too much lately.

I thought that at first too, but I think he/she meant re-record in a way she would slow/tone down her voice to fit the classical sound.

Gustavopc 25th November 2015 06:04 PM

^ That's what I was going to say, I can't easily picture her vocals from WARNING being that strong against a classical arrengement, unless it's something like Nightwish :laugh

love in music 25th November 2015 08:32 PM

Why are people upset? We're getting a ton of new classical remixes, and you know how sometimes her classical remixes can be better than the original songs.. they're rarely low quality. Is it because a single would be cheaper? It's not like you have to buy this, just download it free in the download section when it's available, doesn't make you less of a fan :)

Anyway, I'm looking forward to this mostly for the Last Minute, Sorrows, and Out of Control classical remixes. And I'm hoping the classical remix will make The Gift less boring :P

For me the thing with The GIFT is that its neither bad nor great, it's just ok and not very remarkable... which is fine, I don't really dislike it, but it's one of those songs I rarely feel like listening to (but if it starts playing I don't feel the need to skip it either, unlike some other A ONE tracks I already got tired of).
But I think The GIFT could be highly improved with a classical version.

She releases maybe one album, one remix, two DVDs, and one single per year. That's quite little activity compared to other artists.

I think she just needs to stick to what works. Before she was experimenting too much with different genres, now she's experimenting too much with different types of releases. Most of these have been disappointing across the board: A SUMMER BEST, LOVE, again, no interludes on Colours, Terminal recut single, doing PVs for single tracks when the album gets released... I'm okay with another remix album, but this is her third in 3 years. Why not include another A Classical with a new a-yu-mix collection? I think far more people would be happy if a classical remix disc joined the a-yu-mix family.

And singles. I know she's not topping the charts, but singles build interest. It gives us something to enjoy every couple months as opposed to waiting several months for news of some kind. Ayu has only released 53 of them, which averages out to around 3 per year of her career. If sales and charts don't matter, why not stick to the formula of a few singles then an album?

My other concern are things like this Samapura nonsense. How is it fair for someone to pay full price for an album but only have two years to listen to it?

Some of these ideas aren't good. And they just happen more frequently. I think everyone expected Winter diary to be a single, and I think more people would be happy if Ayu announced Winter diary as a single then A7 Classical as a remix album. Two new releases, two new things to be excited for. Instead it just hit like, "What. Is. This."

It's mostly because it's like a gimmick. "Buy this whole album of stuff you've already heard and get the new thing you want to hear." As I said above, I think these strange releases just need to stop. If Ayu wants to release new music, put out a single, album, or minialbum. Stop packaging things in weird collections or in awkward formats or in weird ways. People want A BEST 3 not A SUMMER BEST. They want a triple A single, not a minialbum with 3 new songs, 1 PV, and 7 remixes. They want a new single rather than a remix album with an original song as a bonus track.

I know Ayu is doing her thing, but I also know she has to know that fans are losing interest over this stuff. I know I'm a bit like, "Whyyyyyyyyyyyy...?" over several of her releases since 2012.

They are always marketing her as old news. Market her as the hottest thing, even if she isn't anymore! Be aggressive. Be forceful. They've been playing this "passive/soft" image of her for far too long. Tell the people what to think, and they might follow!

ExodusUK 26th November 2015 12:08 AM

I'm surprised they haven't tacked on a classical version of Movin' On Without You.

Gimmick? I didn't realize that she has already released A ONE CLASSICAL. Since it's stuff we've heard before.

Not only expired in 2 years, and they do not guarantee that it works outside of Japan. :no
