I'm sure everyone here has seen that. It would behoove you to read the whole thread if you are going to make a well thought out reply about this.

Even putting Ayu's physical features aside, I think the story of how and when her father left and that no one has been able to find out who he was is interesting enough in and of itself to theorize about this.

bleh..i unno how to say it...like, was she born during a certain war? cuz if she was, then her dad could have been either an american soldier sent to japan, met her mom, and had ayu but left when it was over or something. OR, her dad left due to a draft and was killed in action or something...

That is what we have been saying for this whole thread sora. Why I said that I was hoping you were being sarcastic is because I can't believe someone would think one of the World Wars occured durring the 1970s. :thud I'm not trying to sound mean but, please pay more attention durring history class. :yes

Ayu was born post-Vietnam. And a war would not have had to be going on in order for her father (or even grand parent) to be a soldier. Soldiers are stationed there 24/7, 365 days a year War or no War. Here is a brief American military history for Fukuoka that I've gotten from several online military sources.

Durring the 1940s, 20,000 American troops lived in Fukuoka. That is a LOT. So what masa suggested - that one of Ayu's grand parents could be American, makes sense given the time period.

Durring the 50's and then in the 70s, Fukuoka was used as the main deployment center for troops durring both the Korean War and Vietnam. Which means that in addition to the troops living there already(not sure how many, less than 20,000 though) over a 100,000 troops would have passed through Fukuoka and lived there very briefly.

To this day, around 8,000 troops are stationed at any given time in Sasebo(the name of the base). Sasebo is primarily a Navy base, but has some Marine Corps and Army as well. The typical deployment time at an Overseas base is 3 years.

I'm not sure how many troops were there at the time Ayu was born, but I would guestimate between 10,000 and 15,000 - more than there is now, but less than in the post WWII occupation of Japan.

Yep. I don't even know if anyone is sure of Ayu's mothers age. They said the pic on Kyoudai was recent and Ayu was about 22 at that time. Yet Ayu's Mom looked like she was in her mid-30s at the most - she looks very young. Ayu's Mom must have had her at quite a young age.

And yes, only Ayu's mom knows who is Ayu's dad... :P

And yes, of course some people look younger than they are, especially Asians. But she DOES look YOUNG - no doubt about it.

That is very possible, but I think she does.

If now she would be of mixed blood there's a possibility that she only got to know about it quite recently, some time during her career as a singer. When things like this pop up late in your life it can be that you simply want to stay quiet about it. Ayu often speak about her feelings through her songs but it seems she never mentions anything about this.

She doesn't want us to know or she doesn't know herself, or the thought that we are interested might simply simply not have hit her/avex. Maybe the information provided in her profile is 100% accurate... I love speculating :D.
