"January 1st" releases like I am... and (miss)understood are usually not truly released on 1/1/XX. They're usually released during the last week of December, for Oricon counting reasons, or something.

I can't imagine a 'rock tune' as a single A-side. Especially one like alterna or 1LOVE. I'm imagining 'rock' like evolution or UNITE!.

But I have a feeling it will end up a double A-side in the end.

I hope there's a B-side instead though, and some remixes would be nice.

Apparently, the main track is a rock song. Tower Records states that it's a "powerful and charming rock tune." So, woo!
