To quote Ayu from ViVi a few weeks[?] ago:
Quote:

On the 12th of August, the double A single [Sunrise ~LOVE is ALL~/Sunset ~LOVE is ALL~] will be released. It’s Ayu’s new experiment, consisting of one melody but two different lyrics and arrangements.

“Sunrise is a summery, happy pop-tune, but whilst writing the lyrics I thought, “it would be nice if I turned it into a ballad, right?”. In that way, the ballad Sunset, glowing with the melancholy of the end of summer, was born.”
“The subject of Sunrise is “you”, and that of Sunset is “me”. As for Sunset; I wondered if girls can sympathize with it more easily. But because I feel both songs have become each other’s ‘answer song’, I think people can sympathize with both songs.”

“Because I also wrote the songs with the theme ‘father & daughter love’ in mind, it’s not only about romantic love, but about family love and friendship as well. I wrote the songs to fit different kinds of love.
Though I didn’t create them this way from the start, I can’t imagine them as separate anymore; both songs respond to each other.”

Ayu said, “I want to take good care of my present self”. Music, fashion, love; everything concerning Ayu is the present.
Everything continues to move forward and continues to change ---.

I think we should all know that Sunrise & Sunset = same melody, different arrangements, different styles, different genres, different moods and slightly differently lyrics. :yes Don't be surprised anymore!

Anyway, the dancing in Sunset kinda reminds me of fairyland, with the sash or whatever on the dancers' hands... and I like how I only see Shu-ya, Subaru & ZIN on Sunrise on the same stage/platform with Ayu. :P

Hmm...looks okk so far.

Sunset sounds very promising, however. I cant wait to hear it.

Thank u <3. I think it's so ridiculous that u can only like sth if it was done by someone u like.

So far people are liking the PV's, but if it is confirmed that Kazu was the one who directed them, i can see several people changing their minds about them.

Ridiculous.

Sunset is A W E S O M E. Ayu looks stunning and the song sounds beautiful. It's already safe to say that Sunset > Sunrise imo.

I don't really care about Sunrise PV cause i'm not liking her hair at all lol. Maybe it'll grow on me.

Thanks for posting, and thank u for the youtube links.

emi♡ 31st July 2009 05:07 AM

^I don't think people are like that at all :shrug

If something sucks and it was directed by someone they like, people'd probably call it a fluke.

For example, I love CMJK, but I hate his arrangements for NEXT LEVEL. Same thing with HAL and Sunset.

If Kazuyoshi does something good, I think we'll all say it's awesome. But that doesn't mean that there aren't going to be people scrutinizing every little thing with the video, negative or not, and it doesn't mean that they aren't going to blame him for them.

I doubt this video will be perfect or something...and, I'm pretty sure there's going to be a fair share of people who dislike it.

edit:Going back and seeing some of the things people have written though, about how Kazu just CANT have directed it...I definitely see why the talk about directors is annoying. Ruling out Kazu is ridiculous kind of ridiculous.

Doesn't mean the ballad has to be boring and uninspired. There are many types of ballads, and seeing as how she's experimented with a bunch of them...I guess I just expected something a little more impressive.

Especially since I wanted Sunset to be my redeeming factor for the single. But oh well, those are kinda just my hang ups. I'm glad people have mostly a positive opinion about it though, and that they generally seem to like it.

I think Sunset's arrangement is just perfect, cause it does sound like a ballad, but still sounds like Sunrise.

If the arrangement would've been more "unique", it probably wouldn't sound that similar to Sunrise, and the connection between them would've get a lil lost.

I also love how it does have a summer feeling to it imo.

emi♡ 31st July 2009 05:33 AM

Perhaps, but I still think that the arrangement makes it boring. I think there's plenty of connection seeing as how they have the same melody.

But it is a summer single, and Ayu has been liking her medium ballads, I suppose she just loves this song.

I personally, like I said, would have liked something more interesting.

And yeah...sometimes I can't believe people say the things they do. With no evidence or anything. Tis rude imo.

Well, the cinematography just makes too much sense for him to have done it, haha. Takahide is much better at it, hohoho~

Evolution7/4 31st July 2009 05:45 AM

^HAL hasn't been confirmed for Sunset (or have they??)
Oh and just to clarify one more time
THE DIRECTOR ISN'T THE SAME PERSON AS THE CINEMATOGRAPHER

thank you. :)

SunshineSlayer 31st July 2009 06:25 AM

^ But in order to be a good director, one has to have a good knowledge of cinematography. Its often the director and cinematographer together who decides the shots. (and sometimes they are the same person) None of Kazuyoshi's previous PVs really have much good in terms of cinematography.

Evolution7/4 31st July 2009 06:28 AM

^True but I'm just saying, can't blame it all on the man. And frankly Green's cinematography was fantastic. Very cinematic, it look like an actual film, rich and with depth, but I guess thats all up to ones own opinion/taste. I have a problem with the editing, like sparkle had good editing in some part but for the most part was stuck with boring shots when it should have used cuts and flashes. Now granted its the same situation, they aren't necessarily the same person but the director can decide and forsee.

Kanzaki 31st July 2009 06:38 AM

Just as I thought, Sunset turned out so nice when slow! ^^ I really want this single!

Generally, the person sitting right behind the camera is the director for music videos, right? Do they even have separate people as cinematographers for simple things like PVs?

Evolution7/4 31st July 2009 06:50 AM

^They may or may not. Bear in mind, Ayu's PVs aren't really the simpiliest or lowest budget ones out there. ;) And TBH while a director should have knowledge of cinematography, a director isn't always gonna know the deep down specifics, like the director may know what kind of look he wants but won't necissarily know how exactly to achieve it. The cinematographer knows what film stock, lights/gels/lens/filters/materials, etc. needed to achieve the specific look. Again, a director could know this but not always.
I think some people are confusing what a director and cinematographer is. Like they have two complete different jobs, whether they are the same person or not.
Although isn't Ayu ultimatetly the director of her Pvs? ;)
