The CD+DVD versions always sell way higher, if I remember well, versions B & C of Rule/Sparkle sold around 30k all together. It's pretty much the same with the rest of her singles and albums.

really ? that surprised me because I know for avex's case , their artistes's PVs always tend to make the cut in their albums's DVD content unlike for Johnny's

Yep, ayu's sales are mainly from the CD+DVD editions.
For example I recall in an avex pdf with A BEST 2 project.
They showed that both A BEST 2 sold just around 72,000 with the CD only versions while the CD+2DVD versions sold the rest (like 620,000+).
^^

well, Riaj certification is based on shipment, not on final consumer sales... So, you can figure out +- how many copies were printed in total by the certification^^

Keep Tryin' was the most downloaded song of the year of its releasing on Japan (can't remember if it was the most downloaded of some stores or the most of all), even if the single didn't do well on physical charts...

and Ai Otsuka's Planetarium had a tie-in with Hana Yori Dango 1 (FoL's tie in was Hana Yori Dango 2) and the sales weren't as good as Flavor of Life^^

Teppei-chan 24th August 2009 06:14 PM

I sure that the single will break the 100.000 mark.

love in music 24th August 2009 06:17 PM

yay. earlier on i was thinking it might not make it to 100k, but it definitely will!

well the ratings for HYD 2 are higher overall than the 1st season :innocent

both opening & insert songs for HYD 1 ie. ARASHI's WISH & otsuka ai's Planetarium cleared about 300K + each unlike the 2nd season where Flavor Of Life sold about 600K+ while ARASHI's Love so sweet sold about 400K+

I only referred to the physical releases :) As Karen said the ratings weren't as high and people most likely liked FoL better as well. I didn't say the song sold just because it had a tie-in ^^

Sunrise/Sunset is also doing really well digitally.

rakeru 24th August 2009 09:39 PM

way to stay in the top 5 for another day; crossing my fingers for #5 weekly.

anybody have the digital charts for today?

ayumisrael 24th August 2009 09:44 PM

^Check the official recochoku thread, unless if you meant to iTunes. ^^

jbrat2219 24th August 2009 10:32 PM

Looks like this single will cross the 100k threshold after all :D

Yes, but I was referring to hikki's digital sales in the beginning. Be My Last was a total failure in physical because there was only ONE song there. Even when she's beloved, it doesn't mean people are as stupid as EMI think. A cd worth over 1000 yen when there's only one song?

So you see, BML did badly in physical, and it got over a million download instead. Same as her other singles. Hikki doesn't belong to the physical department anymore. She dominates the digital world instead. And she gets loads of money from that surreal place. This is what I hope to see... cuz eventually cd will be another outdated item (just like vinyl disc, cassettes, MD, LD, vcd, etc.). Right now I treat the digital chart as a indicator of how well a song is received by the general public. Most of the time only hardcore fans buy physical things (e.g., ayu, and obviously those johnny boybands).

ayumisrael 24th August 2009 11:13 PM

But it should be taken into consideration that a lot of singles that sell really well physically don't sell well digitally.
Even B'z's new singles didn't have chaku-uta full version, just the ringtone but the single is a success physically. The ringtone will most likely be certificated, it wasn't certificated yet by the 20th of this month.

On 2005 single wise though ayu did really well both physically and digitally.
HEAVEN for example had over million legal downloads
(chaku uta - million, chaku uta full - 100,000) and the single sold over 300,000.
