But you're right, the only thing that matters are the japanese fans.
And if Kuu is promoting her album with You're So Beautiful, it has a good chance to be well received by the Japanese.
Cause You're So Beautiful is definitely a song the Japanese will love.

I felt UNIVERSE is one of her more R&B-ish album thus far, many of the songs are very R&B, and I feel it's a genre that Japan favors nowadays (think Theylma Ayoma or smth). Of course Japan mainly eats bubblegum pop and ballads. :P

I also agree that You're so beautiful will be or is well recieved by fans ^_^
its a very touching song I think they'll like it along with her ballads maybe thats
why moon crying TW ver. is included as a bonus!

I think maybe I have a different perception of genres (specifically "J-Pop") than some of you. D: Because, they only R&B songs I see are two, and I only see four slightly~ hip-hop ones (but, as with almost all Kumi "hip-hop" songs, they are much more pop--they just have a heavy beat...).


These songs, I think, are VERY J-Pop (as in, chances are, you will never hear this type of song become popular in the Western world):

Which, that's already half the album... The only ones I think sound non-J-Pop are You're So Beautiful, No Way, Can We Go Back and Physical Thing. (Which, a few of those are kinda "universal" music - Like Can We Go Back--this is completely regular rock, which is the same everywhere.) And a few of the others are pretty J-Pop-y, too, but disguised as Western-sounding (specifically, Step Into My World and ECSTASY). XD
I have a feeling somebody is going to try and compare a few to Lady GaGa again.... Which actually helps my point, since GaGa is obviously influenced greatly by Japan. :P

But yeah, what about those of you who don't think this is a very J-Pop album..? Which of those tracks do you disagree aren't J-Pop?

The only songs I like are beautiful and universe. Everything else kind of blended together into one big song for me. Nothing really stood out. I wonder whatever happened to trick too. She has a tendency to sing the full version of interludes at concerts, and then release the full studio version on the next album. I wonder about trick.

Someone on JPM mentioned that Step Into My World could be the full version of TRICK since they sound so similar :shrug

At the moment the only ones that stand out to me most are:

- SUPERSTAR
- You're so beautiful (DEFINATELY my favourite :D <3 )

Daaamn, I wanna order this album so bad, but I want the poster too! And because there's no guarentee from YesAsia about getting first press, I'll have to order from cdjapan, and possibly pay customs /rant

Damn high prices! I just hope I have the money :3
