I was worried the chorus could kill the track depending on the arrangement. The verses made a huge impression on me from the start but the chorus really depends on the arrangement, and the ats mix really comes through on that! It needs to be a full version, wish it was the official version. If the official sounds lackluster it will really bring to light how drab her team of arrangers have been lately.

you're totally right, IMO that's the big issue with a lot of song from "Love song" album. All that symphonic production for songs composed by an electronic/experimental musician.

I don't think it'd be a 'lately' problem though since ats- worked on both WORDS and aeternal pretty recently. If anything, it's just Ayu's vision for the songs in most cases.

That’s a good point. Maybe this speaks more to how Ayu pushes the arrangers into her vision for the song? Seems without being under the pressure and influence of the label and/or Ayu, this producer was able to do some of his better work. Or maybe it’s because the composition and vibe of this song is totally different than that “Sakura petal”-vibed shit she’s been leaning into extensively for her ballads.

It's surreal to see Ayu talk about abottchen since they've been doing the piano arranges for so long and to plug them on IG! I hope they see it soon! I also hope someone saves the story for them to cherish, someone captured a bit of it on Twitter but not the whole thing.
