Kumi Koda has been tapped to do the theme song for Yoichi Sai's upcoming manga-to-film adaptation "The Legend of Kamui" ("Kamui Gaiden"), starring Kenichi Matsuyama. The song, titled "Alive," is her first to be based on classical music.

"Alive" is inspired by "Lascia ch'io pianga," an aria from the Italian opera "Rinaldo" by Handel. Last summer, Sai was shooting a scene for the movie. He had liked the aria since hearing it a long time ago, and he felt that it suited the film well. The production staff agreed and began putting together the music, while they asked Koda to write the lyrics and provide the vocals.

The song will be released as a single sometime in the fall. "The Legend of Kamui" opens in theaters on September 19.

Oh I just said that based on the chu-uta ranking lol... but oh well ECSTASY style isn't the most popular in Japan... as long as we love it, that's all that matters lol!

i'm not surprised, what most of her english "fans" hate the japanese fans love, and vice versa. which is why we get 2 million moon crying perfs and 0 lady go perfs. or why she performs joyful live when she has an album full of hot songs. :shrug

i myself don't mind, i think i love the stuff that most of you guys don't like. but at least she is satisfying me i guess? :dead2

I'm actually not too fond of Kuu's ballads. The only ballads that I can bear are a few off her Black Cherry album. I just hope this next one will be worthwhile.

What's with all the hate for Joyful? I love that song :(

^ i'd like Joyful a lot more if it just stayed in Japanese. it's very similar to WIND, and i love that song. the joyful joyful lalalala~ sounds like something you can find on one of those pre-school tapes. the Japanese lyrics are actually really, really nice if you've seen the translation, but that bit ruins it. joyful gree? lol

same with JUST THE WAY YOU ARE, i love the music and the sound of the song but the i like you i like you you are my best friend is enough to make me not want to listen to it anymore.

JUST THE WAY YOU ARE was okay cos it really sounded good... and JOYFUL, the biggest turn off is yeah the Engrish part. I mean choir = grating on ears...
