Ayupan Collectors

Hello! I recently decided that I want to collect Ayupans. Can anyone recommend any good sites that are regularly updated with information and pictures as well as a numbered list of all of the figures that are out and are coming out? Also, I recently became aware that there are fake Ayupans being sold. Does anyone know any good websites to buy Ayupans without having to fear that I may get a fake? I know YesAsia is good but are there any other trustworthy sites out there? Are there certain websites I should avoid as well? Also, what's the price range I can expect to have to pay for these figures? Sorry to bombard you all with so many questions but my main goal for this thread is to learn anything I can about Ayupans. Any information you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

I can't tell you much except for that YesAsia sells them, but you already knew that.
Since I am a newbie ayupan collector too I thank you for this thread and am interested in what the others will say! :yes

Thank you for the wonderful websites. I've bookmarked them both. Now I'll be able to keep up with what the ayupans I need as well as what I have. :)

Ayupans are around 5cm tall. Some may be taller due to their props, but the body height is 5cm. Their original price is USD5, but resellers tend to sell them at a higher price, USD10-30. Some rare ayupans are sold at a higher price, the most recent one being the rollin' ayupan. tokyoxjapanxfan sold it for USD200, lol.

i'm a ayupan collector! u can pm me if u have any questions! :D

Ranma Matsuri 28th May 2010 09:35 PM

Thanks for the links, angel*ayumi. :)

I'd recommend ebay for just about anything, lol. But, there isn't a lot of Ayupan sellers (that I trust) up there and I want to start collecting too.

AyusakiFan 30th May 2010 11:12 PM

I don't think I could ever spend $200 on an Ayupan but that's a seller's dream, especially if they didn't pay nearly that much for it. tokyoxjapanxfan deserves a high five and a pat on the back for that one, lol. But anyways, at this point, I'm focusing on the newer ayupans but I'll pick up an older one if I find it pretty cheap. For the new collectors, are you all starting from the beginning or only focusing on what's out and upcoming? For older collectors, how long have you been collecting?

LacusClyne 31st May 2010 06:13 AM

well i have been collecting ayupans for years.

in the begining, i started to buy them when the (m)u ayupans are out, not the (m)u tour outfits, it's those (m)u album booklet outfits, i bought 2 of them. There used to be a local stores that carries jpop items from japan(although it's 90% Johnny's, but they have A FEW AYU'S)

then, i got addicted to them! they are so cute~~~ small, but i feel happy when i see them in my showcase.
Then after 6 months, they have more of the older ayupans, i think the store owner bought them in a lot auction from Yahoo Auction Japan, and sold them really cheap, like USD$4 each, so i bought like 10 of them! But the store has closed down by now.

Other then there, i buy those ayupans that i like from ebay. but you just have to keep your eyes open for good deal, some sellers like ayumi_showcase, is overprice. I can get them way cheaper from YAJ.

Now since i have most of the older ayupans that i want, i'm concentrating on buying the new ones. I buy them from mumo or YA.

the ayupans set that i like most HAD to be the (m)u tour set, i spend 3 years to get them at a reasonable price. The set is consider rare and quite costly, they can reach around USD$80 for EACH ayupan when it first came out. I have to give up bidding on them, and i still remember how sad i was.

So here goes:

My most treasure ayupan set~~~~ CHA DA DA DA

Here's some of the ayupans that i have, it's taken last year, so it's not updated with the newer ones

as for the latest NEXT LEVEL tour ayupans, i manage to get a set after my 2 patches.

1st batch from mumo

2nd batch from Yesasia, including of 2 that i bought at yokohama

Btw, were there ayupans made for the NEXT LEVEL album? I mean, like for the booklet outfits? I don't remember ever seeing them on YA or here.

nanakopy87 2nd June 2010 11:30 AM

majrakun 2nd June 2010 11:40 AM

Yeah, unfortunately that's the only one they had. I wish they made the one with her in that cop hat too, I'd rather buy that one. GUILTY didn't have any booklet ayupans too right?

SURREAL__RAINBOW 2nd June 2010 11:41 AM

I'm like obsessed with them since I got the secret one *o*

Omg!! I would die for GUILTY ayupans!! :laugh Ok, no, I wouldn't but I would want to have them so bad!

Earth_maiden 2nd June 2010 04:26 PM

if you're serious about collecting ayupans you need dedication and a rather large bank balance. And some will cost you upwards of $100 or more, they're just that rare.

AyusakiFan 6th June 2010 12:15 AM

I got my first two AT09 Next Level Ayupans today. I got Ayupans 122 and 129 (almost thought it was the Secret Ayupan when I first opened it). I can't wait to order more!

heavenlycarols 6th June 2010 12:22 AM

If you wanna collect ALL the ayupans. It's gonna cost you perhaps 700USD or more. Because there are 2 sets that are rare and very expensive. They are the m(u) sets with cards and the TA sets. Really expensive. Those are the 2 sets i can't bear to buy it! They cost like, 200USD a set.

Collecting something is a good hobby but it could set u back a lot of money. Do consider before venturing into it. Because i started and i couldn't stop. haha. :)

AyusakiFan 6th June 2010 12:34 AM

For those of you who have been collecting the AT09 Ayupans (especially from YesAsia), what do you find is the most common figures you get?

heavenlycarols 6th June 2010 12:47 AM

the rollin ayupan. i received 4 of that. But really, it is random, so it's hard to say.

AyusakiFan 6th June 2010 06:27 AM

When I received my Ayupans today, I kind of liked not knowing which ones they were until I opened the packaging. It would be awesome if we could pick which ones we wanted to buy so we wouldn't have to worry about getting duplicates. But at the same time, it's great that we can sell and trade our extras here with other members.

I second this, not knowing which one you're going to get is sort of fun but when you have duplicates (or not the one you want) it's frustrating =(

yatsudamf 8th June 2010 05:34 AM

I used to collect ayupans. I began when she released them in Family Marts around the country back in 2002. My most prized are the T.A. Live Tour ones.
I've stopped collecting them mainly because I'm unable to log into Mu-mo when they're put on sale. They get sold-out in a matter of minutes!! I'm tempted to buy some this year though... we'll see.
And my advice for collectors is to be patient. Wait a few years (yes, that's right) and the ayupans you want might be on sale for a reasonable price on Yahoo Auctions JP.

AyusakiFan 12th June 2010 11:33 PM

I'll definetely have to check out Yahoo Auctions JP because I've heard quite a few people talk about getting their Ayupans there. Do the sellers ship outside of Japan?

nanakopy87 14th June 2010 11:09 AM

most of them do not send to outside japan .you need to use middleman services like celga, japan auction agency etc

Calico 14th June 2010 01:21 PM

^^I use Shopping Mall Japan. Their rate is pretty fair.

But otherwise yeah, you're probably gonig to need a middle man to bid off there. Great deals though so it's worth it most of the time.

AyusakiFan 27th June 2010 03:07 PM

Do most of you collect by sets or just buy the ones you like?

Earth_maiden 27th June 2010 03:20 PM

I started with the ones I liked first, like A MUSEUM and (miss)understood CD ones, then started collecting others I didn't even like. Now I have all the numbered Ayupans I collect them as they're released.

AyusakiFan 27th June 2010 03:23 PM

I think that's a wonderful idea to collect that way. At one point, I was just collecting them as I saw them but I realized that I needed to have some kind of structure as to how I'm going to collect them since there are so many.

Earth_maiden 27th June 2010 04:48 PM

yeah, its overwhelming at first, there's so many out there, but some will appeal to you more than others, so I suggest starting with those, then working your way down to any you may not be so fond of.

Some of the ayupans I really do not like at all are:

#8, #19, #22 (mainly because it always falls off my shelf, so I call it my Kamikaze Ayupan), 47 (cos it cost me an arm and a leg and it's not even a real costume from anything!), #87 (jailbird Ayu?)

labello 27th June 2010 05:08 PM

I have a question about those Ayupans~
Do they have 2 designs, like one smiles and one doesn't cause there are always 2 pictures~

~angel*ayumi~ 27th June 2010 06:03 PM

No most of them have sad faces, there are only a few (since AT06 I think) that are smiling.
The reason you always see a smile version on eneabba is that nick made them all smile^^

AyusakiFan 28th June 2010 05:20 PM

I wonder why they decided to give the Ayupans more sad faces than happy faces. I don't know if they were supposed to come across as serious expressions and ended up looking sad. It's not very fitting of Ayu as she is always smiling when I see her, lol.
