AVEX Tribute To HAMASAKI AYUMI!
 

Ayumi have been in the music industry for years..I'm hoping that AVEX will make a compilation album tribute for Ayu where all of her song re-sung by other AVEX artists. :luv2

How about you guys? What do you think about this? What if Namie Amuro sing "Rule" and Koda Kumi sing "You were...". I'm a bit curious about the result...:P Let's discuss!!!

it'd be interesting! Ken Hirai did a cover of LOVE ~Destiny~ a while ago and it was reli fun so I hope this idea actually realizes!

It was cool when people did it for Judy and Mary...but Ayu doesn't seem as "receptive" to have other people cover her songs...

I think it would be cool if they did something for her, like throw the biggest party of the year...but that's all I really see them doing as far as activities that involve other artists.

Remember Hirai Ken did make a cover version of "LOVE~Destiny~" in his Ken's Bar II album.:yes

ya i know.and i actually listen to hirai's version once and never want to listen it again :P
i just feel that ayu's songs are only ayu can sing it.if other people cover any of the songs,the 'feel' will be very different,IMO

It's a good idea on paper but in actuality:

Those would be the result of such a project. Imho, Ayu's songs are too... there's too much of herself in them for them to really "resonate" with another person. It'd feel like karaoke night and they just decided to do each other's songs and Ayu's was next on the list or something. While the genuine good intentions would be there, the genuine feelings in the songs they sing... and Ayu's own genuine feelings towards seeing them attempt to connect with them probably wouldn't. But yeah, I think it'd be cool if they did it but I'm not that positive about the result.

I think I know what you mean. It's because she writes & put hersel in her song. She gives her maximum because each song is a part of her.
It's like if another artist try to have the same face that her. But Ayu is Ayu & nobody can be like her.^^

I wanna see all those young singers to sing Ayu's songs~
and i can't see Kuu/Namie sing Ayu's songs because they could be said at the same level as Ayu~ moreover Namie, she was so famous before then Ayu came along..

i would like to see something like this, but i don't think i want to see it yet. maybe at her 15 year mark or something.

although, i would be annoyed if i liked someone's cover more than the original, hahaa.

That would be both awesome and terrible. Most famous artists aren't exactly known for prodigious vocals. ...Not that Ayu is either, but who could inject the amount of emotion and power that she does?

Hmmm... I think that the songs wouldn't sound the same or have the same feeling to them and they wouldn't be the same at all... I hope they would do some kind of tribute to her (in the future, though, not now :)), though, just not this kind ;)

LADIES AND GENTLEMEN... I think Koshi Inaba and Aya Kamiki should cover Ayu! <33 Along with Gackt! :laugh

i wouldn't like that idea.. i would prefer if any other singers will sing it like during their concert or something like extra or special performances kind of stuff

ok um don't kill me but Gackt singing Sexy Little things would be something worth seeing, not even mentioning that he's older than Ayu and got into the the family of Avex not long time ago XD But I would love to see/hear that, just for the sake of amusement ::evillaugh

I remember one countdown live concert of Johnny's Entertainment bands (KinKi Kids, Tokyo, Arashi, Kat-tun, and many more), guess it was 2007-2008, there was a huge and long medley of all the bands songs but everyone was singing someone else's songs and the bands were mixed, even though I really listen only to KK and hardly know other band's songs I really enjoyed it and it was an awesome performance.

Even though I'm pretty sure some Ayu songs might lose the charm I would love to see something like this some time :)


I can totally imagine Kumi singing Sexy Little Things but with lower, less cute voice, she would probably transform it from cute to rock like Inside Fishbowl and Outside Fishbowl, at least I can imagine it being like that :)

idk how i feel about it. I would most definitely listen to it, though. It'd be interesting to see everyone's take on her songs

It's gonna be a LONG time before we can get something like this; I'm not sure if even Matsutoya Yumi or Matsuda Seiko have tribute albums yet. I know they have cover versions of their material, but it's not like there's been an actual project with the purpose of covering their songs. Granted Johnny's may be strict with their songs, but not even SMAP, who's been in the industry for over 20 years, have a tribute album yet.

Now if this were a TV special or a themed variety show, then maybe this can work e.g. a HEY! HEY! HEY! tribute to Hamasaki Ayumi with all these artists covering her work. Knowing her, if she'd ever want one, she'd probably make a special episode of Ayuready? or have Producer-like control and handpick her songs for the artists or something. Hahaha!

I really want Gackt to cover Ayu. Just because everytime, NO MATTER WHAT, IT NEVER FAILS, I do a male version of Ayu in Audacity, the song ALWAYS comes out as some form of Gackt, usually a younger version sort of thing. .____.

I totally love that idea :D What I'd really like is if they re-arranged the songs to be more like the cover artist's atyle. As opposed to just taking the original instrumental track.
