Virgin Road Noise @ 4:04...

Has anyone else noticed the little noise in Virgin Road at 4:04 in the song? Virgin Road is my favorite Ayumi song of the whole 3 single project, but that little noise drives me crazy!!! What is it I wonder?

Anyone else???

love in music 6th October 2010 09:56 PM

maybe you have a bad rip of the song? i can't really hear any weird noise at that part.

Kazeyomi 6th October 2010 09:56 PM

At first I was 'there was a big nose in Virgin Road's PV?' lol :laugh but then I realized.
I noticed that little noise too though o_o maybe it's just made by instruments like drums. I guess.

everlastingRAINBOW 6th October 2010 09:57 PM

It sounds like a little flaw, just a little scratch of the microphone or something... Or drums!

Same exact thought I had lol. Thought we were gonna get ourselves a nose job topic.

The word I always think of is "slip.". I'm not sure what to think about it.

It isn't the rip I have tho, it's in every one I have downloaded, even the super rip from HTMSD (is that his screen name?).

jbrat2219 6th October 2010 11:51 PM

Nothing in particular...

ownsarai 6th October 2010 11:53 PM

I don't notice anything out of the ordinary at that point in the song. Maybe I need to put on my headphones to hear it...

ohsixthirty 6th October 2010 11:57 PM

i can hear it even thru my crappy laptop speakers... weird that you guys can't.

jbrat2219 7th October 2010 12:00 AM

Do any of you have your singles yet, if you bought them? Cause I don't really hear anything...

[edit]

Is it kind of a puffy sound? xD;;;

Maybe... It's a sound that is definitely out of place.

I'm surprised you're having a hard time hearing it. It's so obvious to me when I hear it. Maybe your mp3 has slightly different timing or something.

Queen Bee 7th October 2010 01:49 AM

^I heard what you are talking about and I think it's a stick brush being used on the drums.

Ooh that is what it sounds like kind of! But it totally sounds accidental, like it shouldn't be there.

Queen Bee 7th October 2010 02:04 AM

^It almost seems like they used it on accident or they opened it up too much at the point compared to where they might have had it out previously in the song.

gallowsCalibrator 7th October 2010 03:01 AM

My ears aren't the greatest so I didn't notice anything~~ I'm sure it's just an instrument, ne? ^^

jeffycue 8th October 2010 02:25 AM

maybe its really how it is... like evolution where it skipped in the middle... i kept on downloading several mp3s but always get that skip... turns out, its really part of the song. hehehe.

Cherry Dynamite 8th October 2010 02:34 AM

I heard it. I don't think it's an instrument it just came out of no where.
It's not just a bad rip though, I checked and I can hear it from my CD too.
I don't think it's a part of the song.

Picaflor 7/4 8th October 2010 02:38 AM

I actually do hear it. is it in the instrumental too? if not, then just mix it a bit for that one second. XD

Cherry Dynamite 8th October 2010 02:39 AM

^ It's in the instrumental too xD

really? Maybe it's just the same song being spread around. You don't know how long I've been searching for an HD version of Real me pv and no matter what website I look around, they always end up being the same pixelated quality, even if they claim it's "ripped from their dvd". It's like one person ripped the video forever ago, and people just spread the same video around. Same with teens. Until a week ago I thought the acoustic version and original were the same song, then I found out that one person just ripped the acoustic version and claimed it was the original, and just spread it around.

ImpactBreaker 8th October 2010 02:56 AM

I can hear the noise you mention, but only if I blast it really loud, and it still doesn't sound too abnormal. It sounds like a part of the drum beat. I guess your audio configurations (bass, treble, etc) are set in a way in which some sounds get more enhanced than others, so the reason why it must be sounding a little awkward for you. In my speakers configuration it sounds fine.

LOL there is one, that really sounds like a bad mute-like glitch but is actually a normal part of the song. When I was just a recent ayu fan, and evolution was all new and everything I kept downloading several times the rips to see if I could find a glitchless one. I then started to think the original track rips were actually rips of the PV, in which the skip really looks like a glitch, because in the PV, the exact part where it skips and goes mute, the image also goes glitchey with a red coloration and pause. But then after listening to the instrumental rip, the I am.. albumrips, and seeing TV and DVD rips of the PV, I finally conviced myself that the skip "glitch" was actually intentional and a normal part of the song. :laugh

*Listens to the evolution*

ohsixthirty 8th October 2010 04:24 AM

Where in evolution is the skip?

Lanz16 8th October 2010 05:18 AM

^ still investigating :)

jeffycue 8th October 2010 05:55 AM

^ hahaha! its during the instrumental break. the PV even "glitches" during those parts.
check 3:19 and 3:22 of evolution.

freedreamer 8th October 2010 06:05 AM

O LOL..omg never noticed. its this "chhh" sound haha.
and evolution's too..but yea that's definitely part of the song. for VR's...erm i really really never noticed..so it wont affect me

ohsixthirty 8th October 2010 06:34 AM

Oh, the slight pause in the music? It's supposed to be that way I think. I like it.

Yukitora 8th October 2010 08:37 AM

I love the glitch in evolution :D Just like the glitchy ayu in the PV

the 4:04 noise in VL repeats itself in 4:16. I think it's part of the music not a glitch.

Calico 8th October 2010 08:44 AM

lol I love it in evolution. It sounds very intentional to me. :P

Lanz16 8th October 2010 12:42 PM

Yup, evolution & Virgin road does have the slight glitches.
Still, its part of the music and I think its intentional.

I don't hear it on 4:16

I'm sure the one in evolution is intentional.

Aditmi Krisnasaki ~II~ 8th October 2010 12:57 PM

yeah, I noticed that too, but I think it's probably just the drum, not the song... :D

pepper 8th October 2010 01:11 PM

Haha, i hear this but it's nothing weird

I always thought i got evolution bad version, the sound in begining (like a speed'ed cd or sth?) made me crazy XD

*Petit* 8th October 2010 01:13 PM

These "weird" things in ayu's songs aren't that uncommon apparently. There's something that sounds like an old car horn in Rainy day and the really brusque and loud el guitar starting up in Together When.

NintendoHTF1242 8th October 2010 01:14 PM

^ Oh god I hate that guitar. It sounds like the guitarist came in too early and tried to cover it up.

Calico 8th October 2010 11:37 PM

LOL I love the car beep in rainy day.

jbrat2219 9th October 2010 12:01 AM

You know, I hear that sound again around 4:09 and 4:13. If you listen really closely you'll hear it, I think it's just part of the instrumentation. Maybe a sound the instruments make by accident when you play. When you listen to Catcher in the Light Orchestra Version on MY STORY Classical, you can hear the musicians press the keys on their instruments. Something like that.

MiiSan 9th October 2010 01:02 AM

All I can hear in VR is a blast from the drums XD

wait, at what time is the car beep? i don't remember that.

emi♡ 9th October 2010 02:33 AM

Definitely hear it. It sounds like a recording flaw or something...but then I don't know much about those...I just don't know what else it could be.

Analyzing the spectrum...ah yes, I see...

That's what you're hearing, and as you can see, it's not uniform with how a song actually looks...so pretty sure it shouldn't be there...probably a left over where they connected the recorded tracks.

And honestly, that's like, a pretty bad mistake...it's so prominent in the spectrum because it's so loud.

I hate the beep in rainy day! lol I couldn't figure out what that was for the longest time...I thought it was real, it was driving me insane lol

I really hate the background grinding noise in Vogue...but Im sure that is intentional...

ohsixthirty 9th October 2010 05:50 AM

^wow. i definitely do think this noise is a mistake. do you think its possible for someone to actually edit it out somehow???

which drives me crazy because i love VR so much. :( and to think that that David guy said he listened to this song every day and didn't notice that glitch. its weird.

and i'm still waiting to hear where that beep is in rainy day. i listened and didn't hear it.

SURREAL__RAINBOW 9th October 2010 06:05 AM

ohh thanks now I'm gonna be annoyed by that noise for the rest of my life

jks XD

Ohh well... I hope they edit it for the album?

emi♡ 9th October 2010 06:06 AM

yeah okay, so like, I was listening to it again, and now I think it's just another little percussion track they added in at this part.

The first time I listened to it, I thought I had heard it more than once, but then I thought I was just confusing it for the actual track layer....

but...I was going through the spectrum again to see if I could take it out, and it seems that it is happening on beat, in a pattern with another sound or two, so, I'm pretty sure it's just another percussion layer, and that's the way it's supposed to sound lol

ohsixthirty 9th October 2010 06:28 AM

Hrm...I need to listen with headphones and see if I hear it elsewhere. Even if it is supposed to be there, I still think it sounds awkward.

emi♡ 9th October 2010 06:34 AM

^should happen again around 4:09, and 4:13, along with some little wood clicks or something that happen in between lol

I dont know if it's elsewhere in the song though.

love in music 9th October 2010 06:56 AM

hmm so I listened with headphones really loudly and I guess I hear it, but then I hear it again in some other parts after that. it isn't distracting to me though, it just kinda blends in with everything so I'd only really notice if I listened closely for it.

oh and about rainy day.. that's only in the PV version because there's a car in the PV..

waterballoon 9th October 2010 07:10 AM

that sound is either

a) a slip up from the drummer
or
b) a special stick (brush stick) that u use on the drums for JAZZ music

now Virgin Road is not jazz so it's a slip up.. and what annoys me is that

1) they didn't even notice it & just let it on the single... shows how rushed the whole single is
2) the fact that it's REPEATED shows a major copy and pasting of sound in the recording... that's expected from studio recording maybe, but still.

PEARL 9th October 2010 07:33 AM

i didn't hear anything lol..think my ear gone crappy~

eh I'm really skeptical about it being a mess up now...

because I'm listening to it while watching the spectrum, and it's like...there's so many little sounds on this layer, that if these really are pasted together parts...I mean, that means they're pasting it together like every few seconds...

...and I just don't even see that happening for a section that doesn't even have vocals...unless their symphonic band is just that bad...but I sincerely doubt it.

It's the arrangement. He added in an extra top percussion layer. Very subtle, but obviously noticeable, especially if you have any type of decent equipment.

And the little clicking sounds in between are really noticeable in the rest of the song...they just lowered them down here, and added this "noise" at the beginning of the phrase.

hmm if that's so then it's probably part of the arrangement/composition... it's just pretty weird how these extra sounds clash with the main music that they seem like a mistake lol; I understand clash chords but this is like another story :laugh

BlackSilence 9th October 2010 08:32 AM

LOL, I hadn't heard anything before now I hear that sound too, but differently than some of you it doesn't annoy me at all, I can hear something simmilar through almost the whole song from drums, I think it has to be there :P

I've heard songs from other artists that used one single sound just once in the song and that sound HAD to be there. I think those things actually make the song more interesting melodicaly/instrumentaly. I honestly love annalysing those things, and find them in the song :P

GREENdays 9th October 2010 10:29 AM

Whilst listening to this song on my laptop, I used to heart this mysterious noise and for some reason would assume that it was the noise that facebook chat makes when you receieve a message, so everytime I heard it I would check facebook - no messages.
Now I've just realised it's actually in Virgin Road, hah!

mirrorcleworld 9th October 2010 10:31 AM

hmm.. never really noticed that until now...
it actually ruined the song for me for a few days :P

i really don't mind it that much now...

wildconnetta 9th October 2010 10:31 AM

I love that noise, hahaha

anayufan 9th October 2010 11:44 AM

well i don't really mind it and i think it was actually intentional since all of the brush noises seem to fall on a beat. BUT if there are those that are really distracted i edited them out :)

download these for noise free Virgin Road! xD
mp3 (Original mix, no click) | (Original mix, no click -Instrumental-)
FLAC (Original mix, no click) | (Original mix, no click -Instrumental-)

ImpactBreaker 10th October 2010 12:17 AM

I personally think the problem is in how you guys messed with your sound master controls. I put this song loud in several of my devices, and while I can detect what you guys mean, it still is barely noticeable even in louder volumes and it really doesn't sound that much out of place. It flows well imo.

kiseki89 10th October 2010 03:41 PM

There is a noise? Didn't hear it.

Edit: there is a weird sound!

Off topic- Anyway listening to it on my local radio station and they are playing the pv ripped version of virgin road(there's e machine gun sound etc) Can they do that? Play e ripped and not e original cd version?

Tom Punks 10th October 2010 04:47 PM

I hear a weird noise in Virgin Road at 3:15. It sounds like... sparkly. I dunno. It definitely sounds like it's not supposed to be there though. >:|

mobius 10th October 2010 05:00 PM

I never notice this noise until I've played it few times now.

It guess it flows well that I barely notice it.

jbrat2219 10th October 2010 05:29 PM

What's there is most likely suppose to be there. I think ImpactBreaker is right, there is either something wrong with your levels or you just have hyper-sensitive hearing. But thankfully anayufan was able to edit it out for you. All I can say is I've listened to this song over a thousand times and I never noticed but NOW it is all I hear, thanks LOL. :laugh

rainbow_smile 10th October 2010 05:46 PM

Lol I heard that thing that you call noise in Virgin Road, but it seems really normal to me oO
And yeah, in evolution I think it's not a skip but some kind of noise oO But I need to watch a PV ^^ because I don't remember if something went wrong on the video...

anayufan 11th October 2010 08:03 AM

^ yeah the pv skipped too i had the same confusion like most thinking it was maybe a glitch in the video and i had a pv rip? but buying the album solved it and really was intentional xD

i can assure you that isn't it. i haven't touched any of my sound controls or anything. besides, i very clearly hear this noise on my laptop, my iphone, my home stereo, my car, and my boyfriend's car. its always the same noise and its always very clear to me.

emi♡ 11th October 2010 05:22 PM

lol it's in the spectrum guys, omg. At all times it happens. It's supposed to be there.

The reason why it's so clear, is because the frequency of the noise is so high, and there's nothing else really happening at that spot.

spanishfan 11th October 2010 11:53 PM

I hear it so low, but now i notice other thing, int 3:39 there is like a skipped part in the "shii/ii". I ripped my CD, maybe i move my laptop or something while i did?

maybe your cd skipped while you were ripping it. i definitely don't hear a skip there.

Me neither... And in Together when... I can't hear anything special as well. Could anyone tell me the time when it sounds, please?

ohsixthirty 12th October 2010 03:34 PM

I think in together when they are talking about the guitar. A couple of times you hear like a hard rock guitar start and then stop. But it's obviously part of the song.

channy 12th October 2010 06:03 PM

Well, did you guys notice that little "beeep" tone on MY STORY album track two "About You" (around 0:48min~ish) yet??

You might need to listen to it with in-ears! (I recommend to do so!)

ohsixthirty 12th October 2010 06:44 PM

^oh wow...never noticed it before, but i do hear it! its right at 0:46 for me and its very slight, but i definitely heard it.

I ripped it again and got the same, then I download it, I heard this again..
It's like in the "mukashiiiiiiiii" the shi (without vibrato, it's at the first part of the shi) was longer but they cut a bit part. I don't know how to explain, but it's a bit weird for me :S

Yeah, I hear it. I really don't know if it's cut off or not, but it doesn't bother me.

Advice for other people: If you want to hear something that's barely there in a song, try to actually lower the volume rather than playing the song louder, it helps. The lower the volume the better you'll hear the stuff that you usually wouldn't hear if you listen to a song with the volume all way up.

hud 17th October 2010 09:48 PM

Well I can hear that noise and it doesn't annoy me at all.

I LOVE the guitar in Together When... :(
And lol @ the noise in About You, I didn't know about that. But I think it's the guitar.

channy 26th October 2010 06:01 PM

I found another weird noise!

Listen to MY STORY Classical, track 11 (winding road) at around 0:49~0:53 minute! :O
(Do not forget to use your in-ears)

Edit: And another wierd noise, same album, track 12 (A Song is born) 4:47~4:50 minute xD

So many songs seem to have noises that we all shall discover! xD We kinda need an extra thread for that ^O^

U-GO-BOY 26th October 2010 06:30 PM

haha yea that's funny :), I wonder where those short beeps come from..
