How satisfied are you with the 48-49-50th singles?
How satisfied are you with the 48th, 49th, and 50th singles now that all of them have come out, and Ayu has maintained and surpassed her streak? I know there's been plenty of debate whether this was a true "singles project" or not, but the three are of course tied together. With all the hype about it, I was wondering how everyone felt about it as a whole and not just the individual singles or songs.
For me, it's admirable how fast they were released. As far as the timing goes, I still wish it was spaced out more, but in just a few months we got the same amount of singles than what she did all of last year. Six A-sides (the only song I really did not like was Last angel, but I really liked or loved everything else) and 5 PVs, which is crazy considering she did four new ones for RnRC earlier in the year. I appreciate the work, but the PVs were a downer for me. MOON was nice but boring, Ayu wasn't even in blossom, hardly in view in Sweet Season, and the same can be said for Virgin Road. crossroad's PV really grew on me though, and even more the song which I feel is the strongest of all. The lack of TV lives was disappointing, and yeah she has a lot going on like the seven day tour, but TV lives have always been a big thing with her and I missed them very much for these singles. Overall, I think it all went down nicely. She got #1s for all, and she even set that record so many people have panicked about for so long. I don't think it was perfect, but I definitely enjoyed this project and think of it much more than the Trilogy. How do you guys feel about it over all? |
ok...
IMO she released her most cohesive singles ever... I can imagine all those songs being part of the same album, what usually doesn't happen with her (or jpop in general). The songs felt somewhat new for her, a mature feeling she never had before on her music... It sounded more like something produced by a 30 years old person, what was also nice... Moon PV was boring... Blossom was nice and something different for her... Crossroad is nice but not amazing, still, the message is pretty much there... The same goes for Sweet Season... Virgin Road is the high budget pv of this album, and it was nice too... Overall, I really liked it, mainly for the music... She is not really doing many TV lives latelly, so, IMO, it was pretty much expected... So... 5 amazing new tracks, 1 amazing cover and 1 average song (Moon) |
LOVED MOON.
Thought blossom was pretty meh. crossroad was pretty but pretty meh. SDW was nice but pretty meh. I adore Sweet Season mostly because of the PV's ending. I LOVE Virgin Road. I LOVE LOVE LOVE Last Angel. Probably the most epic song in a loooong time! |
As for PV's, I loved the MOON PV. crossroad was okay, but the fake/horrible looking explosion makes me not want to watch it again. blossom was absolutely terrible. Sweet Season and Virgin Road were amazing. Virgin Road is already one of my favorite PV's from her. I'm very, very, satisfied with the PV's on the L single. Now with the music.. I love practically everything. Virgin Road, Last Angel, crossroad, and Sweet Season are already making their way into my top played ayu tracks. The only music I didn't like on these 3 singles was the orchestra version of Last Links and the Don't look back remix. I can't believe how amazing the Microphone & blossom remixes are! I might even prefer them to the originals, that's how good they are. The orchestra versions of MOON, blossom, crossroad, and SEVEN DAYS WAR were just beautiful. I prefer the orchestra versions of MOON & blossom to the originals. I also prefer the meaning of Love (piano version) to the original as well.
So yeah, I'm just really satisfied music wise/PV wise here with these singles even though the PV's on the crossroad single could be better. I'm super excited now to see what she does with the new album. I know she's due for some upbeat songs and I hope she goes in the Last Angel direction instead of more rock. |
I'm completely satisfied.
I enjoy every one of the songs. I thought the covers were okay but nice. I thought the PVs were very well done. But the music most of all was really great! |
Im more than satisfied, I expected something amazing like always for her every release but this is ... how can I say it. Every single track and every video is special, deep, flawless, I dont have any complain @_@ Not even for the covers. She truly proved who real jpop diva was. I love this mature sound! Im really proud to be her fan.
|
I'm very satisfied! I think the project could have been executed better but I'm not going to complain because the bottom like is we got three NEW singles in three months time. All of which, in my opinion, had quality tracks. It's almost as if the quality increased for each single. The great music to me overshadows any dissatisfaction I may have with any other aspect of the single project.

It take me some times and some listens to appreciate the whole single project (although the best is L imo) but all I can say is:
I'm very very satisfied. And I couldn't agree more with this Quote:
Her upcoming album could be her most mature work since MY STORY, if all of the next songs will have the same quality as the singles though. |
I'm quite fine with the single, but I'm still kind of disappointed with the amount of TV appearances - it seems that the number has been declining since after 2007, and 2010 was quite dormant on the TV market. Now if Ayu's new album could mean more TV appearances...
|
I'm very satisfied!
For me, the was a project with "extremes". The MOON PV was extremely boring, the Virgin Road PV was extremely awesome! :D Since this is quite a specific thread, I'll give a detailed opinion for those who are interested. MOON/blossom Probably my favorite single out of the bunch. MOON is a very nice mid-tempo powerballad, it's definitely my favorite mid-tempo song out of the entire project! Don't even get me started on Blossom, that has grown to be one of my favorite Ayu songs ever. Truly a brilliant song. Both PV's were very disappointing, but I didn't mind that much. Crossroad The song is nice, the PV is nice. To me this is a mediocre single. Crossroad kinda grew on me, but I really can't get into SEVEN DAYS WAR. I'd much rather consider Blossom ~Clockwork Yellow Remix~ as the B-side. It's a good remix. L Sweet Season: bland song. Didn't grow on me, sorry :( The PV is boring as well, except for the ending, which is really quite brilliant. Virgin Road: love! :love For me, her best ballad since JEWEL, and the best PV since the Secret / GUILTY era, amazing!! Very, very good job Ayu! Last Angel: :luv2:luv2:luv2:luv2:luv2 'nuf said! Incredible. |
I still need a lot of time to listen to all songs many many times, but IMO MOON is the most amazing of all, really epic and one of her best ever. The PV is too simple but I like it.
My second best would be Last Angel, really upbeat and nice, I was really surprised! Not that I lost faith or anything, just that I was really surprised I liked it so much even at first listening, whereas I usually need a lot of time to appreciate a song. I'm listening to it a second time now and it sounds like an epic classic, probably will be my new all-time favourite!!! Next would be blossom, really refreshing, definitely has the BLUE BIRD spirit! I need more time for Virgin Road and Sweet Season though, they both look nice but what is actually bothering me is something else. And that's the repetitive themes of two lovers who are unable to live together or are struck by some tragedy and one of them eventually dies (or both). Sweet Season is still much better than Virgin Road IMO. ^^ I have had this feeling since 2008 and this theme is getting really overused and I don't like it anymore... Also the PV of Virgin Road is both very weird and very funny. xD SDW is good but I have to listen to it more, and crossroads is perfect, just the chorus is toooo similar to Kajiura's Akatsuki no Kuruma, I was like wtf, is this Akatsuki no Kuruma?!?!. O.O lol. Probably it's just me, but it's just too similar to it, making it kinda unlistenable for me personally. >.> I'm not implying plagiarism, it must be a coincidence. I love the song and I think would have been much better with a better chorus, cause this way it sounds like cumulative tension is piling up all the way and is ready to explode any minute, but doesn't and this somehow leaves me a bit disappointed. Does anyone else have this same feeling about crossroads? 0.o Note that the song is absolutely epic, it's only the chorus that bothers me a bit, but I'm sure I will get used to it really quick. ^^'' I have always loved ayu and always will. At the moment I'm back to vocal trance because it reminds me of my childhood a lot, so I have temporarily distanced myself from ayu. XD Anyway, I love the fact that her voice is okay now, I saw both live performances of crossroads and they are amazing! The orchestra version is as well. =D |
I'm not satisfied at all. The only songs I like from any of these singles are last angel, and blossom (clockwork yellow remix). Reaching a 50th single is supposed to be a milestone in an artists life that not many reach and I thought this was supposed to be something special. All we got in the end was a ton of ballads, no special packaging, no special tracklists, and nothing out of the ordinary except 2 posters that had all her singles slapped randomly all over them. If not told, no one would guess that this was a special 50th single project. There is nothing special about these singles except the title given to them.
|
I only liked about half the songs, so half-satisfied I guess? :shrug
|
Quote:
to be honest,i am very disappointed when they removed blossom PV frm m/b and put it into crossroad.but i'm fine with it.next, they announced that there will be special packaging, but in the end, they canceled it too.then, they should have the unreleased photo as wallpaper.end up they actually used it for VIVI naked talk =.=" it makes me feel that they did all this on purpose just to get the no.1 streak.if i am not ayu fans,i wouldn't know that L is her 50th single. the songs are ok.but the PV is so-so. overall : bad song :ok worth to buy or not : definitely not worth to buy the singles. :P |
The packaging pissed me off too. I forgot to put that in my post... it was my main complaint for L, haha...
|
oh yeah, that's my main complaint for the singles too - avex being idiots with the way they announce stuff. at least we got some lives and magazine promotion for crossroad and L though and they weren't completely ignored like MOON/blossom. the songs from "L" deserved some lives though. I want more TV lives now more than ever because who knows how long she'll be able to keep up this greatly improved live voice she has right now. I cherish the crossroad lives so much because of that beautiful voice.

only the songs from all the singles were good
other aspects like videos , covers & promotion (little if not zlich) were a major :no . More effort could have been done for all 3 aspects but everything felt so rushed , I think they were neglected a great deal anyway , I never have a habit of buying her singles so this doesn't concern me so much if avex wants to do something like that in future , they should take a note or 2 from the way other record labels promote/market their artistes which're done way better in my opinion |
I really loved it. IMO, they just kept getting better and better! Started off good with M/b, better with crossroad, then WHAMMO - amazing~~ with L ^^ I thought that the PV's were definitely not the best, but L's were actually really good ^^ So, my opinion is pretty much just that all of them were great, and I'm really pleased with it :)
|
I am happy. Virgin Road is nice, I liked MOON/blossom, really liked crossroad and LOVED LOVED LOVED LOVED (I could go on) Last Angel. I also like the maturity of the singles. Sever Days War and Sweet Season didn't really do anything for me, but I don't HATE them, so whatever. PVs were meh. Covers were nice. None of the artists who I listen to, who have been around for a while, have released anything super amazing to me, so the single project was good to me. If anything, Last Angel is one of my new top tracks for her and that means the world to me.
|
I was rather pleased by these releases!
At the time M/b came out maybe i didnt love it as much as i do now but its grown so much on me XP Crossroad i think is such an amazing song i lov eit! SDW has to be one of my favorite songs from the 3 singles even though its a cover Sweet Season im in love with Virgin Road i find is gorgeous and reminds me of BALLAD which is one of my favorite so thats amazing and Last Angel is a nice change from the ballads with sick trance beat :) I loved the M/b covers crossroad covers grew a lot on me and L covers are good :P PV wise i maybe didnt care too much for the blossom pv because ayu wasnt in it, and sweet season i didnt love the pv except for the end but Moon, crossroad and VR had great pv's in my opinion :) So im uber happy with these singles, and in general yea i felt like they went together cohesively Ps. I dont like the comment about ayu's music sounding like someone in her 30's made it >.< i want ayu to always be young :) and release young music ;p (IMO) |
My other complaint, the only song of all of these that I really wanted a video for, last angel, is the only one not getting a pv. fml
but tbh, although i like none of the other songs, I am really glad that they are all cohesive as a single, now I just hope she doesn't mess up the album and slap on songs like energize and rollin, and discomunication on there and pull another "half of these songs don't even fit the genre, or theme" album. I have a feeling that when all these songs are put onto an album, as a whole, I will like it a lot more. Come ooonnnnnnn a ballads 2. This could be the perfect timing for it. with all these new ballad songs. |
Now that I've had time to properly digest them: I still don't find anything remarkable about Moon/Blossom; imo it is her weakest single ever. However, Crossroad and L have really grown on me; Ayu should work with TK more often. All 5 of those songs are great and Virgin Road is one of the best PVs she has made in a long time.
|
pfffft not satisfied
I just like the songs last angel and crossroad these singles can kiss my ass |
Not really satisfied with the rush of these 3 singles released back to back. If I were to compare to the vogue~Far away~SEASONS triology, I don't see any point with releasing the 48th-50th single in such a rush. As there is totally no connection between the singles, regardless of cover art, song nor pv. The only thing clear is that avex is rushing to set another record for ayu and to make a quick buck during the arena tour and the amount of different cover arts and tracklist.
Cover Art vogue~Far away~SEASONS triology cover art gave people a curious kind of feeling, thinking what will the next cover art show be? And I'm pretty dissapointed with the 48th-50th single cover art as I was hoping something similar to the vogue~Far away~SEASONS triology. And lots of cover art version is bad for the pocket... Song As for the song, there isnt much clearer theme for the 3 singles. However I do like most of the songs for the 48th-50th single. But then again it doesnt makes the 3 singles special together. I don't think it would make a difference if they were to release it later individually and not 3 singles close to each other. Conclusion is... 48th-50th single isn't that special despite being released back to back closely. there's no linkage between these singles other than the numbers 48 to 50... Though I like the songs and it just keeps getting better. |
I really don't like blossom. Her vocals are horrible in it imo. The only listenable version in the long run is the remix, which I like.
Other than that I think they're more or less all good. Her vocals are sort of meh in Last angel too, but I love the song, so it's ok. Virgin Road took a few listens to grow on me, but I really like it now. While I really like the song MOON, it has the most boring PV ever. PV-wise is probably blossom's only way to really shine, since I find it good. |
Overall...
Wow, it's actually hard to think. :laugh Although it seems quick - if not even rushed - it also feels like MOON/blossom was released so long ago, in terms of how much she's released since then... Well, I still haven't listened to MOON/blossom much since it was released so soon after Rock n' Roll Circus - I was still listening to that alot. And then suddenly Crossroad was out, and then L...I think out of all of them, blossom and Sweet Season have stuck in my head the most, although I do love Last angel. I wish she'd spread them out a bit more; it seemed a little rushed and I don't feel I had enough time between releases to appreciate each song. Also I certaintly didn't have the money to support all her releases as I would usually :no And as others have said, I wish it had been that bit more 'special' as a 50th single project - like, I was expecting L to have special packaging - but I guess she was busy rehearsing for her 7 Day Tour. That's fair enough, but that's even more evidence for me to say I wish she'd given it more time between releases. But I like the songs - for me all the songs were of a high quality, and I like them all - and none of the covers were awful to me, so I think I can still look back at this as a good time in Ayu's career. |
The singles are great. I love them all. The songs are amazing, and I'm glad ayu was able to wow me a lot recently with these. Great songs! Just hope the next album will be made of win as well.
|
I'm pretty satisfied. I like all of the songs (crossroad is my fave of them all though, at least right now - I'm waiting to get my copies before I hear Last Angel in good quality lol) and the PVs are nice. Perhaps MOON and crossroad's PV's are on the plain side, but I love the imagery and hidden meaning within them. They are simply fascinating to watch again and again *__*
The covers are honestly the only criticism I have of these singles. MOON/blossom's are quaint and elegant but the CD+DVD of crossroad was the only decent one out of that single, I just can't stand those fish lips. I also wish that L's cover had more relevance to the music =_= I like the idea of her wearing the mask but wouldn't it have been a better trilogy to have an overarching theme to the covers? Perhaps I'm comparing too much to vogue/far away/SEASONS which, while kind of boring, each cover related to the last somehow... L, as her landmark 50th single, doesn't do it for me as a cover. I like the CD+DVD versions of the covers, yes but they are so beneath what her 50th covers should have looked like.... =\ |
I'm satisfied, but I'm left with a somewhat bittersweet feeling. In my opinion, Ayu really stepped up her game with these singles (and the Rock'n'Roll Circus album tracks.) For a while, I really thought I was growing out of her. The last release I really got into before this year was honestly GUILTY. 2008 and 2009 subsequently bored me to tears. I'm really happy I'm loving her music again. There isn't a song from this project that I don't like.
The reason I feel a bit bittersweet about it all is because I still can't get the feeling from her that I could from Memorial address ~ GUILTY and I really miss that feeling. I have great expectations for the next album though and if Ayu continues with the level of quality these three singles are on this could be her second peak, in my opinion. :) |
^ I feel almost exactly as you do. Like the only difference is "there isn't a song from this project that I don't like" because I find MOON and blossom to be so weak and forgettable. There isn't a single aspect I like at all about M / b.
|
I very much prefer her new songs...
and her PV..I enjoyed it as well..In the past it has always been about her,her and her...now it's something else for a change.. I hope she doesn't do the not appearing in PV thing for long though..lol She released a lot of singles in a short time and tht was kinda surprising |
Bleh.
Let's see... MOON/blossom Worst single out of the trilogy. I like the songs, but her voice is horrible in these 2 songs. Not to mention the PV of MOON is dull & boring & trying to be "deep" but not reli impactful. The covers are God awful as well... only saving grace is blossom's PV imo. crossroad crossroad is definitely an amazing song; I like it a lot. But ugh the PV is the same as MOON... just dull & uninteresting. I don't like the fact that there's only one new song in the single as well. SEVEN DAYS WAR was all right but it's not a song I'll listen to often. L The best of the 3 imo; Virgin Road, Sweet Season & Last angel are all amazing songs from Ayu & her vocals are pretty good too. The PVs are lovely too~ My only complaint is that the single packaging looks so... Lazy. L for Lazy. I bought the Jacket C from HMV 2 days ago & omfg the packaging was SO SIMPLE I can't believe they would allow something like that for a 50th single. --- Overall, I think it's a good effort for Ayu... just that I hate the fact that she's rushing 3 singles so that she could do a 7 days special concert; I'm gonna get flamed for this, but yeah I don't like it. I hate how as a "special project", none of the songs are outstandingly "special", maybe except Last angel... MOON, crossroad & Virgin Road are all standard J-Pop ballads to me, so it seems to me more like they're releasing songs to please the Japanese than to prove/show who "ayumi hamasaki" reli is with this special 3-singles project. Finally, it's annoying how this special project doesn't feel like one at all; the promotions around it is boring & scarce; only 1 single got a TV performance... thank God for more magazine shoots though. It's funny how... this 3-singles special seems more like a fanservice than an actual commemoration for Ayu's 50th single. |
MOON: I like the chorus... the hype during RnRC killed it for me.
blossom: It's a typical rock ballad that you can't help to love. crossroad: this grew on me. feels like an edgier version of any song from A Song for XX. instant classic? SEVEN DAY WAR: Why? Sweet Season: Feel good music! I love this one. Virgin Road: The chorus saved it. It feels like 2nd GREEN to me which im not a fan of. Last angel: Instrumental version is great. Original version sucks. I'm most disappointed with this. Overall - 2/5 All the promotion of being a project towards her 50th single raised the expectations... but it just fell flat. |
Ayu releasing MOON/blossom was considered a change for me in her musical career. Her genre has seemed to change over the years. I didn't like it at all at first. Maybe not enough to make me not want to listen at all, but I was uninterested for the longest time.
I like MOON and blossom, they're tolerable to listen to once in awhile. crossroad is good single. crossroad is a moderate song. I love SEVEN DAYS WAR. The blossom remix is the best remix from a single in a long time. Also, the Orchestra Version of blossom is better than the original. L is a good single like crossroad. I LOVE Virgin Road, by far one of her best. Last Angel grew on me a lot! I enjoy listening to it even though it's different for Ayu. Sweet Season is just.. blah. I don't remember listening to it all the way through. The PVs for all three singles, bad. I only enjoyed Virgin Road. I miss the old PVs with a twist that seemed right for Ayu to portray (ourselves, STEP you, forgiveness, RAINBOW, ANGEL'S SONG, etc.) Overall, I'm satisfied. I have new songs to enjoy before she releases a new album. =) |
My satisfaction rating: Somewhat Satisfied
MOON/blossom: The songs were quite powerful and good. But there are times that it can be "forgettable". The covers are refreshing but not appealing enough. I believe that the remixes on the single saves from mediocrity. crossroad: The songs are even nicer than M/b. crossroad sounds like "old-school-ish" Jpop along with SEVEN DAYS WAR which outshines the previous single's songs. The single covers are bland but im digging on its Fashion sense. ;) L : This is one stood out from the last 2 singles. 3A side single is what im wishing for a long time. The songs are really amazing; Sweet Season is my instant favorite then Virgin Road bought me into tears, lastly Last angel never fail to amaze me :D Again, the covers didn't impressed me so much. But They're much better than the 2 previous single covers. My only complaint for the 3x release singles is that they didn't promote that much. Just a few CMs, then 2 lives (one song is not enough!), and lack of "noise" created just for the sake of 3 commemorative singles. My expectation just fell out of grace to this. Its happens just like the 10th anniversary. :( At first, im really disappointed but im happy that she now holds the most #1 consecutive singles in Japan and the only solo artist to do so. |
MOON/blossom:
COVERS: It's okay, nice colors. SONGS: Both songs are okay but a bit forgettable, even though they're power ballads. PVS: MOON is classy but somewhat boring. Blossom is a bit overdramatic and bland, although the very end was nice (the painting). crossroad: COVERS: Not to my liking, looks too... retro. SONGS: Crossroad feels similar to MOON and blossom, not much new. SEVEN DAYS WAR is different but hasn't really grown into me yet... PVS: Nice dress but... that's about it. I wish there was more action. L: COVERS: Amazing covers, one of the best of all time. Very elegant and stylish. SONGS: Virgin Road is great, very traditional and touching ballad. Sweet Season isn't bad either, although a bit forgettable. Last Angel is amazing, very impressive. PVS: Virgin Road is great, totally different from any of Ayu's previous PVs. Sweet Season... not my liking. I really wished Last Angel had a PV! OVERALL: I really LOVED Last Angel and the covers for L, those two are my new favs. Virgin Road and it's PV are great also. So overall, L was the most succesfull single out of these three. Overall, this three single project was okay. The theme was pretty consistent (except for the crossroad covers). MOON, blossom, crossroad, SEVEN DAYS OF WAR and Sweet Season are all okay songs but forgettable. Maybe some of them will grow into me later in the future, it always takes time for me to like ballads. Also the PV could've been more memorable and variable, only one PVs really managed to impress me now. |
the songs are still good which's most important to me
but like what everyone else said , I don't feel any kicks/feeling about this project . If avex wanted to utilise this chance & break Seiko Matsuda's streak (which they did) , they should have go all out & over promote it to almost the way when A BEST was released everything else was so dis-organised & not put together well , it's like a house that's 1/2 built but not ready for the owners to move in to stay then again , I don't buy her singles so it doesn't concern me so much & somemore , the PVs for her singles will be in her next album so I leave things as it's |
^Putting Ayu's face everywhere is not always good... We love her, but considering sales, I wouldn't say the same about most Japanese... This record is only important to Ayu's and Seiko's fanbases and the girl is not at her peak anymore....
If she had 4, 5 live performances for each song from the project like she did on her peak, it was easier for her to gather haters than sales... |
I am really satisfy with MOON and L but unsatisfied for Crossroad sucks.
tbh, I wish L has better sales. it deserve higher sales |
i'm happy with the quality of all songs in this project ( except for SDW but i don't care since it's just a cover ) ! About covers , i just find Moon covers good ! the only thing i hate about this project's promoton ! it's Avex fault for not promoting her 50th single enough ! being the face of many magazines doesn't mean her singles can sell well but some promotion in music shows may improve her sales !~~!
|
Songs: VERY SATISFIED
PVs: nor crossroad's but it doesnt bother me since the song is stunning Promotion: NOT SATISFIED |
These are all just my thought.
48th- I love it over all. The covers, songs, pvs, remixes, I love ALL :heart 49th - The covers are just ok for me. I love crossroad, my most favorite song!! The pvs is just ok too.. Not amazed me much. blossom pv is awesome! 50th- Great covers. But dont love it that much. I love all songs in this single! VR n LA are greatest! LA pv is the best ever! Over all : songs are great, pvs are great too, covers great three. So, I'm satisfied :yes |
blossom/MOON:
blossom is so boring :/ MOON was a definite grower though. It grabbed me after about 3-5 listens. crossroad: Boring, as usual. SEVEN DAYS WAR is okay I guess. L: Sweet Season and Virgin Road are boring. Last angel is all right, totally unexpected. Haven't bothered with the PV's (simply because I don't care for PV's sooooo) |
up to now , I don't bother to download/watch the PV for blossom as what's the point in that ayumi's not there ~_~
I probably will if I want to kill some time or if I want to see JaeJung (I known him as Hero as he was blonde in the LAST ANGEL PV xD) but nope , not going to happen anytime soon |
I look at all 3 singles that I bought and thought.
Great covers. Great songs (especially blossom) and meaningful lyrics. 110% satisfied~ |

well lets see here...
Songs: MOON was phenomenal, it captured that old Ayumi Hamasaki feeling very well. blossom was great in concept, but I felt like the verses and chorus were too disconnected. Plus the harmony in the chorus is one of her worst, whoever mixed it needs to be executed. crossroad was a pretty strong single, surprisingly enough. The Chaku-uta version remains horrendous, but I'm glad someone was able to catch how bad it was and fix the arrangement. SEVEN DAYS WAR doesn't count to me, it's not her song. My problem with the crossroad single is that it was treated as TK's comeback single instead of Ayu's 49th single. Onto L. WTF was she thinking with Sweet Season? This year's Sunset, it may even be worse than Sunset. It's just... awful. Virgin Road took some growing, but it disappoints me in the end. Her voice now just... can't sustain a song like that. If Virgin Road had been released five years ago, it probably would have been her best song ever. It disappoints me because of all it could have been. Last angel is perfect though, it's trance heaven. Music Videos: MOON, crossroad and Sweet Season essentially had the same music video. She sits around for five minutes and something "shocking" happens at the end. And they were all boring as hell. She needs to stop making videos like this. blossom was boring as well, but I'm not a fan of those drama videos. Would have rather had her sit around and sing blossom tbh. Virgin Road was the only good PV from this project, and not for the reason I'm sure she intended. Virgin Road was comedic gold, easily the funniest thing she's ever done. The climax of it was disappointing though, with them on the water tower and her singing. It was so lazy. Covers: I only like the crossroad covers in terms of idea and photoshoot. L and M/b's photoshoots were really lame. She looked incredibly fake and plastic on all of them. The worst part about them is they weren't special. They looked like everything else she's done for the past two years. For this project, I was expecting... something. But I got nothing. Avex's Mishaps: avex ****ed this up. They really did absolutely nothing right for the promotion of these singles. From short versions of the PVs, to her limited TV lives, and canceling L's bonuses. They messed up BIG time, and shouldn't have given the supposed grandeur of the project. OVERALL: Songs I love: MOON, crossroad, Last angel PVs I like: Virgin Road Covers I like: blossom/MOON CD-only, crossroad CD+DVD, crossroad CD-only A tl;dr: expected more, liked portions, hated others. Disappointed. |

I'm not that satisfied with the project in general.
The only songs I love are crossroad and Last angel, but I have to admit that she really wowed me with these this time. SDW is also pretty nice. I don't feel the other songs much though. Sweet Season probably is the most boring song she ever released. Everything else was also pretty meh. The covers, the packaging, the PVs, the promotion especially - lackluster. It is a step up for me personally music wise, but other than that it doesn't feel like this project deserves that name. |
I've grown to accept it, but I thought it'd be more of the return of me listening to the songs because I love them, and less so that I'm listening to it because it's Ayu's newest release. They are nice songs and I listen to them a lot and have grown to like them (I love crossroad) but everything else, although nice (still have yet to get comfortable with Virgin Road), ... Let's just say if it was some random release by another artist, I would not feel the need to listen to them over and over.

I don't care about PV's, so I'll just rate the singles based on the songs and covers.
MOON/blossom: MOON was an instant hit for me, I loved it since the first time I heard it. Her voice in the beginning of the verse was a little off-putting, but the rest of the song was gorgeous, I'm a sucker for rock ballads like these. blossom was a little bland in the beginning, but after hearing the remixes on crossroad it grew on me hugely. I don't think it's her best song ever, but it's very nice and I love it. The only remix I liked on this single was Last Links' orchestra version. Microphone's remix was okay but nothing compared to the original, Don't look back remix sucked and I'm probably the only person who preferred meaning of Love's original version. :/ Whatever. The covers were... blah. She looked drugged on all of them and old poutface is getting boring. The booklet shots were gorgeous though. crossroad: I love the title song. It's so calm in the verses and gets hugely melancholic in the chorus. The arrangement is great and I love the lyrics. And singing it aloud, I've noticed it's actually more high-pitched than I originally thought, I appreciate that. SEVEN DAYS WAR was just plain okay. I love the beginning and the first verse but the boring chorus just kills the whole song. It gets a little better in the end when guitars and whatnot enter the stage, but at that point it's already too late. Remixes were all great. blossom's remixes were both better than the original and also helped me love it a bit more. MOON's wasn't better than the original, but still good. The covers, however, were horrible. I dislike everything in them. Except maybe the outfit, but that thing should've been on some other single's cover. L: Let's get the good out of the way first. The covers were the best out of these three, and though it's another comeback for pouty lips and dead eyes, I like it even if just for the face-mask she's holding. Continuing with the good, Virgin Road is a fantastic song. Such a touching, sweeping ballad, the best song out of these singles. And now we enter the bad. Sweet Season is awful. It's so boring it's unbelievable. Why does it have to exist? Last Angel might be quite nice, but I can't remember anything about the song for the life of me. It's quite nice when I listen to it, but I just can't remember it afterwards. But I think it has a good chance of growing on me. Oh yeah and there were remixes too, I guess. From what I can recall, crossroad's orchestra version sucked and SEVEN DAYS WAR's was an improvement, though not big enough to redeem the song at all. In conclusion: I was very happy with MOON/blossom and crossroad, but sadly disappointed with L. |
They're okay I guess. But could've been better. MOON is okay, blossom is meh, crossroad is amazing, SDW is amazing, Sweet Season is pretty bad, Virgin Road amazing as well as Last angel.

I completely love Moon and Blossom. I think the covers are nice and the pvs are okay. To me, music and lyrics are all that I care about from Ayu.
For Crossroads, it surpassed my expectations. It's a strong song and a good concept. It's catchy and nostalgic. Also, 7 days war is a nice song too. L raised the bar even higher. Virgin Road is pretty much one of her best songs ever. Sweet Season is addicting and laid back. Well... for Last Angel, I don't care about it. Overall I'm extremely satisfy. It's like we got a mini album with all of these singles. Now, I can't wait for the album! |

to be honest , the only PVs I kept in my mp3player are MOON & crossroad . I do like her black outfit in crossroad so it's not so bad but other than , nooo :no . I saw the 2 PVs from L once & that's enough for me to handle |
meh barely.
But it could be worse. They could totally suck. At least there are some good songs. |
MOON/blossom was really poorly done and rushed.
crossroad was downright crappy. Thank god she got a tiny bit of redemption from L, a solid single but nothing worthy of being #50. Thats all I have to say. |
all I can say is that there better not be a single non-single ballad on this album if she is going to include every song so far from these 3 singles.
|
^I was wondering if she'd do an album full of just ballads and call it Lullabies or something. I can't imagine the AHS reaction... Wait, yes I can.
|
incredibly, extremely, otherworldly dissatisfied.
|
^forgot about that. let me correct myself
all I can say is that there better not be a single non-single ballad on this album if she is going to include every song so far from these 3 singles, unless her intention is to have an A Ballads 2 which I'd be perfectly happy with. All I'm saying is that I just don't want the next album to have 10 ballads, 1 dance song, 1 rock song, and 1 "unusual" song. Unless she has a bunch of non-ballad songs, it'll be hard to make the other songs fit. |
the songs are good because I love Ayu a lot and then to love everything she pop up ..
but honestly .. the whole 3 singles are pretty blend for me (IMO of course) .. VR PV is good tho but none of the songs in the 3 singles seem to be the type u would rmb 1/2 year later |
i really do like these singles, but to me, they aren't ayu's best. i enjoy all the songs, though. like just recently i've come to love Sweet Season alot more than when i first heard it. i guess they all just had to grow on me. :P hopefully ayu's next single is much better.
i really love the covers for all 3 singles though, lol. and i loved all the PVs (well..except for blossom which i never even watched, LOL). my favorite PV is Virgin Road. |
I really enjoyed the last three singles. I love every song on it, except Sweet Season, I think it still has to grow on me. And yeah, first time I heard SEVEN DAYS WAR it seemed kinda weird to me, but then I began to love it <3
And yeah, I'm in love with orchestra versions of MOON and blossom *_* |
Im only satisfated with Pv + song for Virgin Road, Last angel and covers for L.
crossroad it's ok. pv it's ok. moon pv it's ok. song it's ok... blossom song it's wonderful but very casual (it gets boring quickly) pv for it it's just ok... seven days war it's ok. covers for MOON and crossroad are rather medium, veeeery medium. I don't hate any aspect of trilogy, but i think she could do more, something more powerful scheme (ballad single + rock single + upbeatpop single) The whole product it's too "casual" for that big anniversary. But i'm really satisfated with her lately promo (cm, lots of magazines, public events like JELLY cover on tower etc) |
Moon/Blossom is like the best single of all. i love both songs. Covers are ehhh.. PV not so much. Jaejoong starred in Blossom is just the highlight :)
I like Crossroad very much too. the remixes are very very nice. I like the covers too, Ayu looks so cute. Very simple. nice nice nice. PV just okay, not great. L ... hmm i really dunno what to say about this single. I only like Virgin Road. Last Angel is pretty okay. Sweet Season? hmmm..honestly is just saved by the PV with the mysterious ending. i love Virgin Road PV, bonnie and clyde thing, very nice. overall, I'm satisfed :) Ayu did great. |
Hm, well...I wasn't liking them very much. Just Last Angel really...
