CDL10-11 talk

gosh just got back from the concert.. really new stage, really good looking ayu, really alot of suprising songs.. she didnt even REALLY sing Do it again.. but.. for the rest.. mediocre show~~~

AyUmIXx 30th December 2010 02:02 PM

^ tell us about itttt!!!!!!!!!
and what do u mean by she didn't really sing do it again??

Tasked 30th December 2010 02:14 PM

Ayu only sang Dance dance dance do it again and Sing sing sing do it again. She didnt sing the verses nor the chorus~!

any more questions? Im tired to write a whole review.. one sidenote.. she spinning around flying during Endless Sorrow~~ niiiice

AyUmIXx 30th December 2010 02:17 PM

my friend told me, she cut off her hair short?? or it's just wig?

Tasked 30th December 2010 02:21 PM

difficult to say.. ayu started and ended with SHORT hair.. but had all kinds of hair in between..

ayufan- 30th December 2010 02:23 PM

were there many costumes?

What was your favorite part of the show?

I hope you had a lot of fun, i'm sure you had, right?

Tasked 30th December 2010 02:30 PM

My favourite part was Endless Sorrow with Dearest, and Free and easy..
The only part of the concert that has slightly a show. SHe was twirling in the air with a nice one-wing thingy; and she was on a witchesstake at free & easy.. with fire... although it wasn't really grande.. As for costumes; yea.. the first costume was good. very... rockchick

ayufan- 30th December 2010 02:34 PM

sounds awsome! I can't wait to see some photo's you made me really curious:D

AyUmIXx 30th December 2010 02:35 PM

hmm it seems to me, this year's CDL outfits aren't that great ones?

Tasked 30th December 2010 02:37 PM

IMO though, the stage was a BIG mistake.. although at first the centre-stage seems cools; it;s very difficult to perform at. Ayu is constantly turning around, there's never a background. Large props and objects are quite impossible to use and nothing is a suprise (cause they didnt really have time to put new stuff on the stage). although the lighting was amazing, I felt like every song was the same performance; same setting.. The outfits are good, the voice was pretty good, the songlist is amazing.. but that's about it~

AyUmIXx 30th December 2010 02:51 PM

^ oh so the new stage design is not really great coz yea with the center stage, it's really difficult to add more stuff..but I still think it's really great that ayu wanted to try new stuff in her stage design..i'm curious to see how it turns out exactly..

nanakopy87 30th December 2010 02:53 PM

so,nothing really stand out for this CDL?

It seemed obviously like a wig to me. :) The same wig from the Love Songs video, just styled differently. Her real hair was in the section that had the Dream On performance.

I agree that the best section was the ballads, Free and Easy and Endless Sorrow. It was nice hearing those old songs again and they had the most "effects" of the concert.

nanakopy87 30th December 2010 03:00 PM

i'm looking forward to see her Endless Sorrow performance.is her vocal ok today?

SunshineSlayer 30th December 2010 03:33 PM

^ It was better than I expected for that song. Not great, but at least acceptable.

Tasked 30th December 2010 04:18 PM

yea,, unfortunately, endless sorrow was the best thing of the concert. this concert is REAL weird.. xD gotta get used to it. it:s nothing like the hundreds of shows shes done in the last 13 years

ExodusUK 30th December 2010 04:43 PM

Well at least it's something different. It's only for two nights anyway.

JackieRos 30th December 2010 06:53 PM

did you like it?
it seems you didn't

Andrenekoi 30th December 2010 08:09 PM

I'm happy she is performing 2 of my top3 songs from her

love in music 30th December 2010 11:07 PM

sorry you had such a bad time.
so how did she perform Marionette? just standing there? or did she do the doll moves too?

maneayu 31st December 2010 12:01 AM

I am waiting for Crea_spain and Hatix reviews! (they went there too) :D

Tasked 31st December 2010 12:52 AM

marionette was in an AWESOME dress and kind of with nice moves.. And I had a GREAT time, dont get me wrong. Some things were outstanding. Even if it's not as good as other Ayu concerts, Ayu is still like the best performer for me ever!!

j0tas 31st December 2010 02:23 AM

what about Mirrorcle World?!

Picaflor 7/4 1st January 2011 11:55 PM

So cool, I'm watching the rip now for the first time and I just realized that during last angel, her dancers are wearing the outfits from sparkle. haha. so weird.

isthisLOL? 2nd January 2011 12:08 AM

my fav Ayu concert, which also makes it my fav concert overall
nothing more to be said

My thoughts while watching: click

Melodie 2nd January 2011 02:32 AM

Having watched it just now, I must say... I'm surprised. I was disappointed when I first saw the pictures, and the setlist seemed random to me, but overall it was a very cohesive, and entertaining concert. I especially liked the stage, though normally I prefer a standard one, this was a nice change, and the lights were impressive. My only complaints would be the ghastly Humming, which was again included, and unfortunately Ayu's voice. It didn't do the songs justice. She struggled a lot, and her vibrato never sounded more unnatural. I also found it odd when she suddenly stopped singing during Last angel. I might buy this DVD, but I think Ayu should stop doing countdown lives. They're not as good as the tour lives, plus her fans would get more excited about the tour itself.

Fav performances: Last angel, Duty, Marionette, Free & Easy, Endless Sorrow, Virgin Road.

In my top 3 concerts there's actually two CDLs, namely CDL1011 and CDL0910, followed by AT08(AT10 is probably soon gonna appear in this top3, she can't lose with that setlist) And I think many people feel that way about CDLs because, while tours have a bigger budget(not THAT much bigger anymore unless AT11 is huge, because this CDL was pretty damn huge budgetwise), CDLs usually bring all these surprises, songs and performances you wouldn't expect to hear again(I NEVER expected to ever see a non-playback Marionette! or hear Duty, Bold & Delicious, Endless Sorrow, Mirrorcle World or Free & Easy again!) and they generally feel more emotional to me. She hasn't cried her ballads to death yet leaving less emotion for the last date :innocent
While tours are more predictable, you know there will be a mix of new albums tracks, latest singles and biggest hits. And you gotta wait months, usually a year or longer, for them to be out, usually there is nothing left to surprise you unless you managed to keep out of info threads and turned off avas/sigs for months. CDLs could bring anything

I for one always liked her CDL(with live broadcast) + tour system alot, though she could try to get her tours out before CDL...also CDLs show us the actual state of her voice. The improvement CDL0708(crappy), CDL0809(almost as crappy + loooooots of fishy), CDL0910(definite improvement but singing her hardest songs) to CDL1011(surprisingly good in big parts and even in old, high songs) is impressive.

ExodusUK 2nd January 2011 03:02 AM

Uh you don't have to watch CDL if you don't like them, personally a lot of people seem to enjoy them and beside fans of other artist would die for their fave to have a concert as high budget/quality as CDL which is just a one off concert not even a proper tour.

This year CDL for me...big improvement on least year but 08-09 is still my favorite.

HilaryDuffFanboy 2nd January 2011 03:08 AM

I went to both nights, and it definitely was not as good as previous years. Virgin Road and MOON were half-songs, the ballad medley was a mess. As for the all round stage, it was nice but she faced block A too much and didn't use the catwalk. If I got tickets for block B I would have been so pissed off.

It was still really fun though....

*hearT_Place* 2nd January 2011 03:19 AM

I just finished watching the main concert. Visually, it was something different, and, while it seemed a little more low-key than last year, was still nice.

Last Angel, Duty, is this LOVE? With the exception of the verses of Duty, the vocals weren't that great in this section. I had heard that she had difficulty with "Last Angel" on the 7 Days Final performances, so that wasn't surprising; the fact that the verses of "Duty" sounded better than the chorus is hardly surprising either - that's a hard song to sing because it jumps around so much. However, "is this LOVE?" was disappointing; I think those might have been some of the worst vocals she's had for that song. She was pretty consistently flat until the end.

Marionette, Free & Easy, Endless Sorrow Okay, I like Ayu doing the puppet-moves and all, but, this time, they seemed to be interfering with her vocals; she seemed to be jerking around too much. Otherwise, Marionette was nice. I really liked her dress.
I LOVED Free & Easy!!! :heart:heart Not only were they my favorite vocals of the night (the softness of her voice on the last line was breathtaking!), but the visuals were wonderful! I loved that she was trapped to the pole (I like how they transitioned into that from Marionette) and Shuya freeing her at the end was actually very sweet. It was a nice happy ending to have instead of what happened in the PV. The whole performance was lovely.
In Endless Sorrow, she was a bit flat sometimes, but I liked her singing overall (ironically, I think she sang the best when she was spinning the most). More than that, though, she looked BEAUTIFUL! Visually, this was my favorite.
Ballad medley Also very beautiful, both vocally and visually. Someone else mentioned that they thought this section was a goodbye to Nagase, and I'd wondered that too when I first saw she was performing these songs. Whether that's true or not, this was a great set.
Humming, Bold and Delicious, Mirrorcle World Parts of Bold and Delicious were REALLY flat, especially when she went on vocal runs or had to hold a note for a really long time. Other parts of the song were good and the whole set was fun. I liked her costume/hair much much better in motion than in the photos.
SEVEN DAYS WAR, evolution, Boys and Girls, Dream on Fun, but probably my least favorite part of the concert. Not that it was bad, but I've seen evolution and Boys and Girls soooo many other times, and nothing new was done here (though Ayu in the air during B&G was cool). Plus, I was just getting tired by this time. Dream on was a nice surprise (or it would have been, had I not read the setlist already lol). Naoya has a nice singing voice.

Overall, I really enjoyed this CDL. It was nice to see some of my favorites performed (I kind of wish I hadn't looked at the setlist beforehand hearing the intros to songs like Free & Easy and Endless Sorrow would have been magnificent surprises) and I liked the different stage. I can't really compare this year's and last year's yet, because I only saw the DVD version of Future Classics and I know that the experience of a DVD version is quite different from the TV version. All I know for sure is this year's CDL was another solid one for me.

I feel completely different... this is probably the strongest is this LOVE? vocal to date. The Arena Tour version in 06 was absolutely terrible, and Asia Tour... well, it was just O.K. But her vocal runs, the scripted adlibs were very good, and it wasn't that bad...

I agree so much on Marionette. She should have just stood there and sang without any emotion until the end... And yeah, Free & Easy was great, and so with Endless Sorrow.

I feel like... this CDL is so different, that's is so hard to take in. She seems different too, I don't know how to describe it. It feels like the "sing sing sing do it again" in Do it Again is really a true feeling, because she just seems to be singing and singing without really any emotion... her vocals were excellent, but I watched CDL 2004 - 2005 again today, and something is different... I can't even describe it.

It was a solid CDL and her vocals are great, but.. I don't feel any strong emotions. It's a bizarre CDL LOL.

Also, it appears she's lowered the key of fly high now... this is the first time to sing fly high in this low key, and I wish she didn't... its boring now LOL. Really, 6 out of 20 songs were sung in a lower key than the originals... hmm... Maybe she just shouldn't sing them.

LastAngel 2nd January 2011 04:10 AM

I loved how the clowns kept appearing throughout the concert. XD

Anyways, I really liked this CDL. It's now my second favorite. (PCDL is still first.)
I loved the ballad meddly. I also like to think it's like a goodbye to Nagase. It was nice. I kinda wish she sang all those songs fully.

miskiq 2nd January 2011 05:42 AM

i love the ballad medley the most...maybe all the ballad songs were written for nagase

AyumiAi 2nd January 2011 05:48 AM

Someone said that in the first of the two cdl 2010 2011 she didn't do the arigatou screaming and moment of silence or take of her wrist bands but simply Sang a bit of do it again. I think maybe she was saying like everyone expects the same from every concert they expect her to do moment of silence and that may be why this concert was filled with classics because she feels as though no one wants to hear what she has to say right now only interested in what they liked about her aka her classics may e that's why she Sang b&g and evolution in one concert? And ended it with dance dance dance do it again sing sing sing do it again ? I'm not sure it could also be a goodbye to nagase but this is my more somber look on the situation :p I unno

I think u don't know what role do the CDLs have on her career...

Ayu has 3 main concerts during the year, and all of them have an important role on her career:

Arena Tours: Those are meant to promote the album and are meant to attract everyone from huge obsessive fans to casual listeners... She sings the new album singles/tracks and her concert hits. Arena Tours are the most important product of her career, even bigger than her albums and pvs... and as a consequence, they have the higher budget...

A-nation: A-nation is the opposite to Arena Tours... Here, the goal is to promote Ayu among people who aren't really her fans, those who went to A-nation to watch the whole thing or fanbase of other artists... That's why A-nation setlist is mostly made of a mix of her most well known songs, summer hits and the latest single, the stuff someone who is not really into Ayu may recognize and like... If someone who is not really into her watch her here and likes it, she may sell some more singles or even conquer new public to her arena tours....

Countdown Live: Finally, CDL.... CDL are made to her hardcore fans... That's why CDL setlist has the most obscure songs of all of her concerts... If someone wanna see a live of an old album track that she never sang or barelly did it, it will most likelly be performed at CDLs... Since CDL06-07, at CDLs she also put the concept and performances of the next Arena Tour to be tested in front of an live audience... What songs should she recover? What kind of outfit will work? Does this performance works on a stage? It's a mix of concert for people who really know her discography with payed reharshal

At least, this is how I see those... and IMO, she can't just stop doing any of them, cuz they aren all meant to promote different aspects of her career, and aimed to different people^^

jbrat2219 3rd January 2011 06:37 AM

I wish she were a little better with Last angel because it's one of my favorite songs, but it's also hard to sing... Oh well, watching the rest.

elvesword 3rd January 2011 06:38 AM

I love the stage and the one that AYU sits on a butterfly-wing like chair going up and down in the air, it's amazing!!!!I haven't watch the CDL for some time, I have more interest in Arena Tour anyways :D But this year's CDL is really awesome, I love the ballad part cuz AYU sang a lot of love songs that I haven't heard for a long time, and the virgin road acoustic one was perfect, and she's really cute when she ran around with the dancers and giving kisses (Hahaha~~~~) I think the last song "Do It again" was like a preview that she will still held an arena tour this year (Not really sure), even though she didn't sing the whole song, but i think it's a hint~~The outfits were cool as well, i love the rocker style and the one that looks like the Greek goddness~:)

Luuuuund 3rd January 2011 05:14 PM

Was she crying after she sang Heaven? ... maybe I saw it wrong..

erika_ayu 4th January 2011 01:43 PM

Although there weren't many props but she SANG REALLY WELL!!! so well I was really amazed, especially the ballads :D Virgin road and MOON acoustic ver are awesomeeeee :D
I almost cried watching her sing all the ballads, I wonder if Mannie was at the CDL too??

auss246 4th January 2011 01:57 PM

She looked like she was bawling during Heaven.. made me tear up, especially as I was already tearing up as she sang Dearest.

You're not getting the ideas of CDLs. There are a lot of people who prefer CDL to her tours because CDLs usually have wider tracklist

Talking about playback, it was Decision, which had PERFECT pitch, not Marionette which was veery far from perfection. And Ayu tends to use perfect-pitched playback like in Step you during old CDLives.

The fact that both Marionette performances we got from AT08 had exactly the same vocals, there was absolutely NO micnoice(which doesn't happen with that type of mic) and ther choreo seemed to have no effect on her though her voice was very bad at that time. She might have sang Marionette live for some concerts, but I am nearly positive the ones we got recorded weren't...

Both concerts we got were edited... They should be no parameter to define how she sounded and if she sang live...

My opinion was based mostly on bootlegs from several dates in China and they were different and had off-key notes.

Indeed. You can't trust edited TV or DVD version. Only CDLives and concert bootlegs count.
It was sad that Dream on was horrible. Ayu's voice was so tired she couldn't hit any note at all.

emi♡ 5th January 2011 08:40 AM

Just because she sings off key in a prerecording doesnt mean anything lol

Its extremely obvious that either the song wasn't sung live, or that in the editing, they completely put another vocal over her voice.

In any case, happy about the marionette at CDL~

Thank you, people are really overprotective whenever someone says Ayu and playback in one sentence, I still really, really loved Marionette at AT08, I am just convinced that was we hear was NOT what she sang on the dates. So I was even happier to see it again at CDL1011 :)

mja7033 5th January 2011 07:16 PM

i was really upset with the end of the concert.....

with do it again as one of my favorite songs... all she said was

"dance dance dance do it again" and "sing sing sing do it again"

she didn't even sing the song!!

Yeah, sure! She made several prerecordings with different random off-key notes, right? :-) I higly doubt that.
Though nobody can be 100% sure but as I said when she uses playback it's flawless recording like in Step you or Angel's song with no single flat note.
And talking about DVD I'd say that they just fix her vocals with a software similar to Melodyne or Auto-tune and I tend to always hear the most obvious correction parts so of course it sounds different from actual live but it doesn't mean that they "replace" her vocals.

jbrat2219 7th January 2011 03:58 AM

Okay, I admit... I was pissed off when I thought Ayu butchered my favorite song of the moment, Last angel. But I think the combination of the bad speakers on this particular computer, the bad quality of the video itself and the fact that she did sound a little rough made the performance sound worse than I initially thought! I really want the DVD though because they will have fixed all that xD;

love in music 8th January 2011 06:00 AM

so is this the review thread? idk which one to use lol but ok.

WOW
so ok I'm finally watching it now in the HD file and holy **** ok. the clowns are annoying and IMO Last Angel sounded really bad, but I absolutely love the way it was performed with all the lights, dramatic movements, etc. amazing. but ok woah woah woah.. I'm just sitting here still gasping in amazement at "is this LOVE?". that performance is like.. wow. most impressive performance I've seen from her since probably that a-nation 08 performance of ASFXX with the rain. so amazing. Duty was really good too. still need to watch the rest but I just needed to express how I felt about "is this LOVE?". I am so amazed.

I think we should look at the example for I Am... from last year's CDL.
I think we all agree that it's lipsync because her mouth was caught in different position as the vowel, and as Japanese speaker, I can say it was impossible for that sound to come from that mouth shape.
However, I Am... was far from perfect recording... it was flat in the chorus, but it was still almost surely a lipsync.

Artists who lipsync like Ayu aren't lipsyncing because they want to sound perfect. They are probably lipsyncing because they know if they sing high songs like I am, they won't be able to continue because they're straining their voice. However, I am was great as a performance, it had the right mood to start the CDL, I think that's why she wanted it to be included.

And I think that lipsyncing doesn't necessarily have to be a bad thing. If the recording is not perfect, but the performance atmosphere is still created, then isn't just fine?? LOL

love in music 8th January 2011 06:28 PM

My full review since I finally finished watching it! I'll keep it simple and break it up into 3 parts.

The bad (I definitely think need a lot of fixing on DVD lol):

Last Angel
Endless Sorrow
CAROLS
Thank U

The good:
HEAVEN
Together when...
Dearest
Duty
Bold & Delicious
Dream ON
all the staples

The OMGSOAMAZING:
is this LOVE?
Marionette
Free&Easy
Mirrorcle World
SEVEN DAYS WAR
Love Song
Virgin Road (acoustic version)
MOON (acoustic version)
do it again

She did mess up vocally in some parts, but when she sounded good, she sounded REALLY good. Some parts I kept thinking I was watching the touched up DVD version or something. I kept expecting "ok, she's going to have trouble with this part coming up and it's probably going to sound horrible" but she wound up sounding just fine. I was pleasantly surprised! Her energy was INSANE too. It must have been amazing to be there in person. If some of these songs sound this good on the TV version, I can't imagine how great they'll be on the DVD. now I can't wait for it to be released on DVD (and please bluray..)

a bit of a stupid question right here, but i'm curious:

is the countdown on the 31st of december really happening at midnight?

i read in a previous thread that the concert on the 30th was held in the evening, but they still had a countdown (which is a bit strange to me). so as i see it, the performance on the day before newyears is more of a final rehearsal for the next day.

kalikagai 8th January 2011 08:38 PM

From here and after - only my humble opinion and nothing more.

Just finished watching the TV-rip of this CDL, and I can't say anything except "meeeh".

Her vocals (well, what I can hear from the TV-rip tbh) are terror and horror for me. My beloved songs - itL?, MW, Marionette - sounded horrible, I'd rather forget about these performances at all (AT'06 and AT'08 will live in my memory forever).

The tracklist still seems to me pretty random, weird and short. I can't help the feeling of "rush-rush-rush". And though the stage was really cool and fresh, its high potential wasn't unleashed. The same thing is with Ayu's outfits - they look crude.

The whole show is like a broken mirror for me: supposed to be glance and epic but didn't reach the goal.

I disliked this concert very much, but despite that fact I'm quite sure that AT'11 will be great and will correct the mistakes of the CDL 10-11. At least I hope it will :)

Picaflor 7/4 8th January 2011 08:54 PM

I actually kind of found this to be a boring concert. I watched Last angel, is this LOVE?, Duty. Then I skipped to the love medly thing she did, and then I just stopped. I thought the track list was just ok, her vocals were ok, and everything about it was just ok, and the clowns annoyed the **** out of me. I'm probably going to just not watch the entire thing.

emi♡ 8th January 2011 10:53 PM

finally watching this...whats up with the clowns...

Haha, I'm sooo sure that I am... was live instead :-)))
There was no reason to start playback from the very first song. It does sound like live and if you noticed there were sound problems when the voice volume was too low in the first refrain. I have watched this performance many times both now and before and never noticed any wrong lips movemens. Could you please tell me the exact moment?
And I do agree with you that singing few song playback during long show isn't a crime and her voice needs rest too.

AyUmIXx 9th January 2011 12:31 PM

I love this year's CDL!
from the stage design n setlist..
the only thing that lack is ayu's vocal ability , she was quite strained in some songs..and she "shouted"~ T__T
but in some songs she did great job though :)
so niceee!!

my most favorite performances are marionette (this is EPIC WIN!!!), free & easy, endless sorrow (the flying chair made ayu looked like a butterfly queen or something haha) and the medley of Dearest-HEAVEN-Carols-Together When... (i think if i were there, i'm gonna cry out louddd~~lol)

emi♡ 9th January 2011 12:57 PM

So...like I was kinds writing while I was watching so...this is long and rambly but whatever.
Spoiler:
omg I love it.

Okay, well I just finished the Love medley ballad thing~

And it's great.

Honestly, her vocals for everything kinda suck lol so...I'm just not paying attention to that at all.

The cool thing about this CDL, is that she's performing songs I never ever thought I'd get to see her perform again, and as someone who loves those old songs without question, it's just great. Totally crying during like all the songs lol

The stage design, honestly, I dont really like it, but it's something different, and that's cool. It's not that bad.

Oh...I do not like this "transition" to humming 7/4 :no lol

woah holy ****, bold and delicious? :laugh In that awful outfit? lol This one has the worst vocals so far in the concert...and I think she should have done more for it. Yeah, definitely...the bridge part could have been epic...and it's just...boring.

And yey Mirrorcle World! um...this ending does not go lol You can't sing all the way to the end of a song like that...and then just start up the fast parts again! lol

I really hate the "revolution" for SEVEN DAYS WAR. The composition of this song is awful...omg. The only good part is the chorus.

So much about this concert reminds me of the old Ayu...the props, vocals, etc...it's like a mixture of her old and new concerts.

evo! omg someone tell peco and princess to stfu with their "hey"s or "yeah"s or whatever they're saying when she's throwing out balls.

http://img10.imageshack.us/img10/199...0h42m00.th.png

...O_O Ayu what the **** are you doing :roflmao

oh yey, I'm really really happy that Naoto is there! Ayu's needed to branch out like this for ages. Holy crap, he's got some vocals on him doesnt he lol Her vocals are really bad in this song...lol Cool performance though.

...5 hours later...

She has some nice vocals during all the love songs stuff.

omg Trauma! YES! AND AUDIENCE!

holy **** she sang Fly High! ouch ow her vocals are awful lol but I dont even care!

All she needs to do is get rid of that awful wig and this performance would be cute lol

lol thank u...hate the song...but it goes so well! And I :heart the balloons.

Ew that ending was awful :laugh

So okay. Like, the first half of the concert totally owned the second half...and the encore was nice...

Her vocals were really bad, throughout, really. Like every song...but I noticed that her voice was okay during the Love Song songs...But I said in the long part, I dont really mind that her vocals are bad...but...damn lol

I really really really love the first segment, and then the ballad medley. I was totally crying like the whole time...and then she started crying during HEAVEN to CAROLS and I just died.

I really like this CDL because, she performed a lot of songs I thought she would just, never perform again, and I figured she had just moved on from...so it was really nice.

Although, the set list was really random in some cases, I tried to let it go because I love all the songs she sang.

And Marionette performance WAS ****ING AMAZING. It's my favorite. I think I even teared up during it, seriously...

I don't like how she ended the concert...but whatever.

I give this CDL 7.8/10~

oh, and it was weird but...this was the first time I ever noticed how short Ayu is on stage! I think it was just that the dancers were always by her or something...but she looked so tiny...

AyuGAME 9th January 2011 02:42 PM

am i the only one that like the way she ended the concert?

no, I loved it! I have a feeling AT11 will open with the full version of do it again.

Tony G 11th January 2011 04:05 PM

The way she ended the concert was fantastic, finally something different. A bit of a unsetting ending too.. not as positive and happy as usual. I wonder what it means?

I loved this CDL. Her vocals weren't actually that bad compared to previous year's live recordings. The setlist was fantastic, the ballad medley was a highlight for me.

Was anyone else surprised how good Bold & Delicious was live here? She really nailed it.

Very plain and stripped back CDL. Worked in some areas, didn't work in other areas. Mirrorcle World seemed empty without the giant ship prop...

Didn't like the stage much. She just kept going up and down, there didn't seem to be a point to it half the time. I prefer the steps with the runway. Although the curtain falling was a nice touch.

Erm...seriously? I thought that this was the CDL that by far looked most expensive, and she had just as many props as usual - or more. Just look at the stage, if that's stripped and plain then I don't know what's huge anymore. And well...only one of 3 previous Mirrorcle World concert performances had a prop, I actually thought this was the most epic one right after AT08.

jbrat2219 11th January 2011 06:52 PM

I prefer Ayu with few props, that's when she really shines in my opinion.

This didn't look expensive at all, at least it doesn't look like more money was put into this than the other CDLs. What props were used, besides that candle seat thing for endless sorrow? It was very much ayumi and the stage most of the time.

The premium CDL was easily her most "expensive".

isthisLOL? 12th January 2011 03:57 PM

OK, you either have not looked at the stage or you got no idea how expensive it is to build such a stage. A stage by far is the most expensive part of a concert unless you shoot lots of videos, got HUGE props(several AT08 ships huge) or got a wellknown designer doing your costumes(not the case for Ayu), PCDL was most definitely much cheaper than CDL0708 as it reused it's stage and there was just about nothing that was expensive on it's own in the concert. CDL1011 had a ****ing 5-ring-design, 4 spinning, 3 going up and down with no back. It might as well be her most expensive main stage setup. Unless you watched another PCDL it was damn cheap actually. Even her costumes looked cheap in it.(Might be better to use 6 than 13...)

CDL0708 or CDL1011 is most expensive, simply as she had new, big stages build for them(CDL0708 heavily reminds of A Museum, but to me it looks like it was only inspired by it, not the same general setup), CDL0809 and CDL0910 were fairly cheap as they just changed the 0708 stage up a bit and had nothing big on their own, CDL0607 stage was made for AT07 and just used for that concert cause it was more convenient and the stages before were quite small and plain.

Oh, and the CDL got the witches stake, don't tell me that's "too cheap" as most props Ayu uses at CDLs are very simple and cheap. And it's just about always one or two props, so what she did was perfectly normal.

jbrat2219 12th January 2011 08:28 PM

I'm pretty sure the budget for this CDL was standard. The concept of it all was different and since the stage was in the middle and there was no catwalk or even room for her to go from one end to the other, there's probably not any need for a MW battle ship or whatever else. Even though some of my favorite CDL's of hers has been the exquisite kind, I like small-scaled lives like these as well. It's more personable.

emi♡ 12th January 2011 08:50 PM

Maybe the stage was expensive...but the fact that for like 98% of the songs, the only other things on the stage besides her, were the dancers...

It was extraordinarily plain imo...That doesn't make it bad...just different.

Seems like they just spent the munny they usually use for big stage props, all on the one stage lol

I would like the smaller scale stage like this...if the arenas were actually small scale lol

Since they aren't imo, it's sort of, not that great. It's cool...but...not that great...

zoomzoom 12th January 2011 10:14 PM

I don't think they necessarily have the same show budget everytime, but I was just happy they finally tried something new with the stage. It's seriously been the same modified stage since 2004. Finally something that looked different, that alone was refreshing.

WOW
so ok I'm finally watching it now in the HD file and holy **** ok. the clowns are annoying and IMO Last Angel sounded really bad, but I absolutely love the way it was performed with all the lights, dramatic movements, etc. amazing. but ok woah woah woah..

Seriously? Weird, because I thought that was the absolute low point of the entire show. I cringed badly at just how off-key she managed to be. It really stood out, because she sang most of the other songs extremely well.

Pieces_of_SEVEN 12th January 2011 10:17 PM

Gonna go download the HQ now...lol

really? are you thinking of is this LOVE? or another performance? :shakehead I thought it was one of her best performances of it.. most of the other times she performed it weren't good to me, they lacked power.

Neko★munication 18th January 2011 11:15 AM

^ I thought is this LOVE? was easily one of the worst vocals of the night too, actually :(

This CDL was okay... after CDL 09-10's vocals, I wasn't at all shocked to find that her vocals here were just as strained and shouty. So on one hand, it didn't ruin the show for me, but on the other hand, maybe it isn't such a great thing that I'm "getting used" to Ayu's vocals being poor :laugh It's just really sad that this is probably the first concert of hers that I've watched and not wanted a single audio rip from :(

My favorite performances though, were Duty, Marionette, Free & Easy, and Endless Sorrow :) Also, I loved the stage - it was definitely different, and I'm so glad she tried it out. Really brought a new dynamic to the concert. Also, I'm super happy she's started doing more medleys :D I've been hoping for a long time that she'd just stick all her staples into one medley, and she finally did!

The costumes were... okay. I liked the Last angel/Endless sorrow costumes.

Overall, the first half of the concert was definitely better. I commend Ayu for trying something new with the stage though, I was getting pretty bored of the same CDL stage for the past three years :P And finally, the ending was epic <3 I was wondering when do it again would come in, and the way she included it was so... cryptic. I love when Ayu does stuff like this <3

I don't think that there were enough costume changes and the clowns were out of place. Nowhere near as spectacular as 09/10. I hop that 11/12 is much better ~ I prefer the stage that she usually uses.
