Singapore's Teens magazine (Feb 2011) - Writeup review of Love songs
 

Took this with my phone earlier on when I was in the NTUC supermarket :p

absolutely! it's so funny, because i would only consider MOON and Virgin Road as ballads.. the rest are.. BALLADS AS WELL?

i am sure the person who wrote the review OBVIOUSLY did not listen to the album. -_- and Love song has folk influence? oh wow.

but for 4 happy faces. i am happy. :)

Wow, ppl buying this album based on this review will feel tricked when most of the ballads aren't there... ;P

Mm... 5 ballads on a 16 track album... (I count Crossroad, Moon, Sweet Season, Virgin Road, Seven Days War). Unless this person just listened to the singles, you can't say this album is mostly ballads. ;/

a little (or a lot) late...i just got my copy of Love songs...
and finally i hear all tracks on this album...
i don't think there are a lot of ballad song, IMO there are a lot of medium beat songs!
i love this album, really different from what she has done before, no wonder that Japan kinda hard to receive this album, because the melody and arrangement is just so different. not a mainstream at all...but i love that ayu still true to herself and make something that not mediocre at all...

it'd be a nice review.. if the "mostly ballad"-thing was true.

I hate when reviews are written by people who don't know enough to write them. Lol thanks though

.. That's actually not that crazy, I can clearly hear it in some tracks.

Like a more traditional sound, the sound you would hear as the background music for a fantasy game or movie. A few songs on the album have a "folk" sound like that at times, like Love song, Like a doll and November.

Tragic ballads? Oh yes please! I wish the review had been a little more in depth, though it's praising, so I can't complain.

4/5 but still the review doesn't justified the rating ~_~

Um like a couple others said, I don't think it's that far-fetched to say that Love song has a bit of a folk sound to it...Idk I kind of got that vibe from it :shrug.

But also, like everyone else, I disagree that Love songs is mostly ballads...the second I read that I was like..'uhhhhh'...(actually as soon as I saw 'she back' xD). But I think it is fair to say that everyone perceives things a bit differently at times. And not to mention that this review doesn't really go in that much depth either <.<...

I know right!! I instantly rolled my eyes and felt sad that my fellow countryman/woman wrote this. :rolleyes

The only way I could see someone thinking "folk" when they listen to Love songs is if they paid attention to the guitar -- and nothing else.

The album definitely isn't all ballads, but there is something soft and tender about each song. That's not the same as a ballad, clearly, but my impression of this album is something reminiscent of, well, A BALLADS, truth be told.

But oh, this is silly.

When I saw "She Back" I knew it would be a lazy review.

I don't think who wrote it has listened to the whole album..ballads tsk

Nyay! "She back" Nobody's perfect, OK.
But I think the writer should at least listened to the album first if he's serious with his work.

while I agree with what a nice album it is, lol forever at the fact (and good for you) that you didn't buy this sad excuse of a magazine. not only can they never print good english (she back with) but they have the worst reviews ever. please shoot the reviewers/interviewers/publishers of teens, Karen. I will get you out of Singaporean jail.

I stopped buying local magazines given such pathetic if not lame/lazy reviews that they write for jpop albums
