I saw the grammy performance and I didn't like it at all.

I think my fandom for her is over. I've been really annoyed by her crazy lately and the new song is awful. It reminds me of that horrible early 1990s piano driven dance music especially that song by Marky Mark called "Good Vibrations."

Yeah so me and Gaga are over.

JackieRos 14th February 2011 03:19 AM

^and I think I'm going back to loving her
I hated her for life o.o weiiiird

koumori 14th February 2011 03:20 AM

^^ Thanks for informing us, it was definitely a necessity for me to know you're not a fan anymore :yes

Anyway, I really want to see this Grammy performance. Hope there's an upload soon.

JackieRos 14th February 2011 03:22 AM

GaGa beat the bieber and Perry!!
Yeeeees

I just thought I'd announce it since I seem to just randomly pop in here some times.

JackieRos 14th February 2011 03:30 AM

No need to explain just ignore
I haven't posted in the GaGa threads for a long time because
her fans can be snotty

I just posted here randomly

emi♡ 14th February 2011 03:39 AM

Yeah, the announcement isn't necessary...but whatev. Nothing saying you can't announce whatever you want to...

so...Bye.

I have yet to see the performance...it's only 6:37 here, and it's not being broadcasted until 8.

So far, a bunch of people are talking about it...and I'm mainly hearing negative things. I don't really expect to like the performance, because I don't really care for the song...but it's not a bad song...so...maybe it'll allow me to be more objective and pay attention to other stuff.

Awh thanks JackieRos.

And anyway. Idk if I'll like it...I like her more at concerts..not one-off performances where she goes all-out to make it a big, dramatic show with that one song.

jbrat2219 14th February 2011 04:40 AM

Is it me or is Gaga loosing her thunder? Not shocked by the egg at all and her performance was the worst of the evening. Even though I'm not a fan of his music, I thought even Justin Bieber did a better job... Which is somewhat disturbing to me LOL. I even enjoyed the Mumford group and MUSE (about to download their song now) more than Gaga... and the list goes on.

Spoiler:
I don't know who knows what or not but congratulations to Gaga for her Grammy win tonight

Picaflor 7/4 14th February 2011 04:42 AM

I missed the Grammys. I wanted to see lady gaga's part. I knew it wouldn't be anything short of something to talk about the next day.

ren'ai 14th February 2011 04:49 AM

I don't particularly like or dislike Born This Way... it didn't leave any impact on me. I expected a lot more, and to me this sounds almost generic which I never thought I'd hear myself saying about a GaGa song. Hope the whole album is better :yes

edit: LOL @ the Egg. That's quite awesome.

Hmmm publicity publicity

Taru86 14th February 2011 06:17 AM

I really liked her performance at the grammys. I think what I liked most about it is that it wasn't some huge over-the-top performance like it was expected to be by many people. Her dancing throughout the entire performance was amazing, and her voice sounded great as well! I also think her outfit was really good too! I find this performance WAY more enjoyable than the one she did last year.

She also wants her lovers to call her Stefani and not lady gaga in bed :laugh

JackieRos 14th February 2011 01:55 PM

Want to watch it for the lulz, also alot of people are going to be talking about it.

I'm wondering if she stayed in that egg until she performed, knowing GaGa I say yes

ストロボ・EdGE 14th February 2011 03:11 PM

LOL way to be a "good example" for your younger fans Gaga.

Is it just me or is BTW absolutely amazing? I feel like I'm in the minority loving it.

jbrat2219 14th February 2011 03:14 PM

I've gotten use to the song, but as far as the performance, I think what really brought it down is how DARK the whole thing was! A song like that needs some visuals, some color. No she doesn't have to bring out a lot of drag queens or outrageous costumes but at the very least make it something worth watching. Cee-lo out-gaga'd Gaga...

isthisLOL? 14th February 2011 03:29 PM

Born This Way...is so...crap :(
She talks about making some huge anthem for being yourself, best song of her career, whatever and what does she release? A song that is a mix of Express Yourself and a leftover from Cher's Believe album with the most superficial lyrics ANY song like that ever had. I'm just glad aside for her core, crazy, "monster" fanbase people seem to realize that, if it becomes a gay anthem like she hopes I will go back into my warm, cosy closet...
That egg was NOT cool and her performance sucked, she DID do a good job vocally though.

ストロボ・EdGE 14th February 2011 03:29 PM

^^HAHAAHA

I've yet to see the performance, but now I'm afraid to.

emi♡ 14th February 2011 03:40 PM

@jbrat: Girl, you are just all over this performance lol It wasn't that bad.

Honestly, I don't really see anything like, bad or particularly great about it. It was just a performance. I thought she just sort of...kept it simple. And as much as I don't like to listen to the song, her vocals were fine, and the dancing was...idk cool but typical I guess.

But it seems like everyone wanted to be talking about her performance today...and even the announcers alluded to them thinking it was going to be crazy and outrageous...and it was just...normal :shrug

idk I thought it was fun. I don't think it was the worst of the evening. Other people were just boring as hell.

About her pot smoking...I don't see what's crazy about that...since like...everyone smokes pot and people are being way more open about it now.

jbrat2219 14th February 2011 04:21 PM

Emiko, I think you're being generous lol. All she did was dance and play an organ. Which would have been fine if there was something to look at. There was nothing visual about the performance, it was dark, you could barely see her and she may have "danced well" but the choreography was ridiculous. The whole thing just seemed like an after thought and I know she can put more thought and creativity into a performance, even a toned down performance. If the song is suppose to be an anthem, make it look like it's suppose to be an anthem.

If it were me, I would have had a choir, some color, a better dance routine, better transitions, some damn lights etc. Really bring the song out, even with minor additions, it could have been better. And it's really not the dull performance that gets to me, it's they hype around the song itself and you can't even deliver a performance worthy of the "anthem of our generation." (her words btw)

Maybe I'm harsh, maybe I'm wrong but all I know is I didn't like it one bit because I know she can do better. I don't necessarily think "she sucked" or anything like that.

Melodie 14th February 2011 04:41 PM

If you're a good singer, standing alone on a small stage with a mic is enough to give a good performance. I wasn't bothered by the lack of visual effects, or the dance routine or anything. I just sat there watching it with a kind of blank expression. I suppose it was the song that didn't do it for me. After hearing so many people praise it, I expected to be blown away.

oneheart 14th February 2011 04:55 PM

^not to be mean to country music, but miranda lambert (i think) did just that, and I was really bored.

As for Gaga, I was surprised that I was so underwhelmed. I kinda expected more, but at the same time, I was happy she didn't try and top herself again and do something ridiculous. She sounded great, she danced great (for gaga at least) and the song is amazing. The only thing I really hated was her bangs XD

And according to Neil Patrick Harris' tweet, the organ part was an ode to the Haunted Mansion.

Probably because people just want to be entertained nowadays.

koumori 14th February 2011 05:32 PM

Gaga's set a high standard for herself, especially for live performances. As long as her vocals were good, she could of been wearing a binbag for all I care.

I agree, I just really hope that she hasn't already hit her peak, she just got here lol.

koumori 14th February 2011 05:53 PM

^ I'm worried about that too...but I worry about that for all artists. She's got a jampacked seventeen track album releasing this year. It better be damn good. If she pulls it off, she's back in the game. ^^

hightea_xx 15th February 2011 07:01 AM

although not my favorite performance from her on the whole, i still LOVE LOVE LOVE born this way. doesn't need to be restated but it's an anthem and there's nothing wrong with that in my books! i'm not interested in another fame or fame monster. i want to see something new for her, and born this way did just that! she better perform this on march 6th, i'd die if she did.

ストロボ・EdGE 15th February 2011 08:00 AM

Yes the full thing. It was only a segment on 60 Minutes - it's not 60 minutes of GaGa. Although there is 60 Minutes Overtime which is 5-6 more minutes of footage not shown in the original video.

futureLOVE 15th February 2011 08:43 AM

I must say, Gaga's body looked AMAZING on the Grammys

also, I appreciated the performance as a showcase for the song itself. it's a new song that not everyone in the Grammy viewership has heard. for a new song, promotion of the song itself is key in it's success. i think she made the performance simply about the song and that to be the main focus rather than something completely over the top and outlandish. she danced phenomenally and I think the choreography was hot.

not to mention her VOCALS. she sounded fantastic.

Oooh that's deceiving! Advertising it as "60 minutes with Lady Gaga" haha. But I'm glad we got to see something, her emotional breakdown on the stairs instantly made me forgive her Born This Way, she has so much passion how can I love not that woman (also listening to Bad Romance on repeat helped).

Her Grammy performance did give a bit of life to the song, if you ask me. The organ breakdown with the "straight gay transgender bi" line afterwards is just.. só passionate. Love it.

Keiichi_JPU 15th February 2011 10:32 AM

There, tried to make something pretty out of the first post. Didn't include full biography and discography and all that, people probably already know her and The Fame / The Fame Monster :)

I'm very happy she'll tape it, but now I just hope she won't change it around too much for the final leg because I kind of want to see the show I saw in Europe :laugh But hey beggars can't be choosers. Or something.

If she releases a RedOne production after BTW it will have gone exactly the way I and many others predicted. The hype of the song VERY quickly dies off, which was to be expected, so they had a RedOne production in the mix to throw in to save the album sales.

I'm not looking forward to this video when she releases it. Believe it or not, I don't like a single video of hers besides bad romance. I like the very intro of poker face when she rises out of the pool in slow motion, but I don't like anything after those 30 seconds. haha

^What do you guys think of this magazine cover?

Yes. I saw the edit of it today and it's amazing. I did it with Nick Knight, co-directed it with him and Laurieann Gibson and the Haus--so it's really a Haus of Gaga directorial debut with Nick Knight. It . . . looks completely different than everything I've ever done.

Can you give a teaser, a sense of what fans can expect?

Um, it is the birth of the new race. Really deep stuff.

I hope it's not the actual cover... but Target has very high quality of the image (zoom-in function on the page), and it's sooo clear!

LOL that's right.

Anyway, Born This Way is a disappointment to me, it doesn't sound fresh or exciting like her debut songs or Bad Romance. But I still like it though, because I can listen to it, it's just kinda meh.

I :heart the billboard cover.

That target thing is interesting...but kind of boring. I don't really want that to be the cover, because for me it really gives off a certain vibe that I don't want for the album, but if it is, then meh.

I took the cover from the target site:

I don't like it. I also don't like how you can see the net of the wig through her hair -_-.

U-GO-BOY 20th February 2011 12:44 PM

haha yeah I hope they'll use another pic.. I think it'll be black&white though..
and the jacket is soo cool..

and her bone structure hasn't changed for real has it?

Cherry Dynamite 20th February 2011 01:28 PM

^ No xD

Born This Way is growing on me, I can't wait for the music video <3

JackieRos 20th February 2011 03:45 PM

I like the target cover more

Picaflor 7/4 20th February 2011 03:55 PM

I don't like either cover. the one has her looking really thin and has her freakish bones sticking out which creeps me out. the other is of her back with her hair going crazy in the wind or something.

jbrat2219 20th February 2011 04:11 PM

I thought the cover was different... I remember white and blue colors and it looked... Euphoric, if that's the right word. There's A LOT of fan-made covers out there and I hope the one I saw wasn't fan-made, but official. Because I loved it.

[EDIT]

It literally took me forever to find this picture!

This is the one I saw way back when.... I hope it's not fake.

That Target cover is a Twitter photo Gaga tweeted at New Year. It's been confirmed it's not the cover - last December.

amorphose 20th February 2011 05:17 PM

The actual cover though is the zoomed out version that shows her butt, right? :P Target and a few other stores are bound to crop that image for their stores.

The bone structure one, that's the cover of the BTW single.

koumori 20th February 2011 06:11 PM

^ I think they're talking about what could be the album cover - but yeah, it was. It's never been said if that was her or a model. Fans said the butt was too small but idk :laugh

U-GO-BOY 20th February 2011 07:04 PM

*working on a BTW remix* ;)
