Ayu is POSSIBLY going to be at a UK convention

OK so I think this sounds highly unlikely (which is why I put it in chat and not news) but according to my friend, who knows the guy in charge of a convention that will start this year, Ayu might be one of the guests/stars.

I told him that I doubt she will go because she's super busy and I don't think she's ever done a convention, but he said it is 'pencilled in'. Not 100% confirmed. He's negotiating with Avex.

Here is the convention's website: http://amccuk.yolasite.com

Confirmed people are the cast of the death note films, the cast of card captor sakura, DBSK and the Japanese cast of Lucky star.

Just thought I'd share this with you guys and will update you when I get more info =)

The website looks extremely cheap for a convention with guests the size of DBSK and the Death Note movie casts...

ayupan90 17th February 2011 09:00 PM

I thought that too XD

Chibi-Chan 17th February 2011 09:17 PM

I will look forward to this... xD

gogirlanime 17th February 2011 09:55 PM

I doubt it, but let's see!

ohsixthirty 17th February 2011 10:00 PM

i appreciate you sharing this with us, but i honestly can't see a star of Ayumi's size ever doing a convention like this... :(

JackieRos 17th February 2011 10:29 PM

Hmmmm wonder if it'll happen

GACKT Yoshiki Miyavi and Sugizo went for anime con in USA (I think) some time ago, if this is something simmilar, then why not? ;) but we'll see :)

U-GO-BOY 17th February 2011 11:13 PM

Koda Kumi went to America, too, right?

thatstacey 17th February 2011 11:55 PM

^Koda Kumi did go to an American convention, but that was before she became one of the top selling artists in Japan (and she released a single in the US first).

I hope I'm wrong--I'd love to see her--but I really don't see this happening. Like, at all. Is there a chance your friend misunderstood the third party? Or the third party is just talking big to drum up buzz for his organization (and/or just really, really naive).

visionfactory 18th February 2011 04:12 AM

Sorry but it's almost impossible

Pieces_of_SEVEN 18th February 2011 04:13 AM

This is why there is a rumors thread :)

Misa-chan 18th February 2011 09:47 AM

This convention seems very anime-oriented, which makes me doubt that ayu may even be invited. She doesn't do much in terms of anime music.

Shirlaay 18th February 2011 10:13 AM

I hope this is true.

asmAyumi1992 18th February 2011 10:54 AM

I'd like to see if Ayu will :D

alternarist 18th February 2011 10:57 AM

i am not having high hopes. but if ayu ever appears, it will a big surprise!

Miyavi is no where near Ayu (and neither is GACKT), at least in Japan. Koda Kumi and AAA went to perform at the Anime conventions when they still weren't that popular in Japan (and miyavi has never been a top artist in Japan). The chances of Ayu and DBSK appearing are almost non-existent plus I it's been ages since Ayu did a theme song for an anime.

ayupan90 18th February 2011 02:31 PM

hey guys I'm just sharing it with you, I never said it was true lol I would have put it in the rumours thread but I wasn't aware there was one.

Anyways, I don't believe she will go (it just sounds too ridiculous). The guy in charge is trying to get avex to agree. as I said, it is 'pencilled in'. No offence to them but they are very naive. The guy has been working on this convention for like 3 or 4 years. Plus their website looks awful.

This thread can be moved, I really don't care. I just thought it would be nice to share this with you guys.

The only one out of those people to ever have popularity rivaling and exceeding Ayumi is Yoshiki. Even though many foreign people like him, GACKT is not "popular" in Japan. I have only heard of Miyabi once or twice, and I have never heard of Sugizo. =/

Bubbly 18th February 2011 03:23 PM

I think it's also something different since rwal J-rock and Visual Kei is more popular in europe than J-pop. So i think someone like Gackt is more likely to go there. I for one always thought convetions are something for Idol groups and some lesser known artists but I don't know, i've never been to one and will probably only ever go if some artist i really love will be there

this :yes.
As I remember, only few jpop singers goes to those european anime-con. Like HALCALI, KOKIA or Shoko Nakagawa. All of them are awesome, but they're not so famous as Ayu or DBSK (unfortunately). European jmusic fandom is really jrock oriented.

Actually I can see Ayu in a anime-con in these days. Because she's gonna do the theme song for a Tales of.. game. But I highly doubt she will be there :/ even if would be awesome and I would have a chance to see her lol.

koumori 18th February 2011 09:51 PM

I'd love it if she did and also did an interview whilst she was in the U.K like the CNN interview. I'm interested in how good her English has become in the last four years, plus it was such a rare, personal interview - I loved watching it.

But that, has a one in million chance in happening. But then again, I never thought a remix boxset would be possible either :heart *dreams*

hsienko 18th February 2011 11:23 PM

I doubt this is gonna happen as much as I want it to be true. Ayu probably charges an enormous appearance fee like $800,000+.

SakuraReyna 19th February 2011 01:04 AM

The website looks so..scanty...although it would be nice for Ayu to come to the UK...I can't see her doing it either with her schedule and all...But I will wait for a confirmation

PinkShinigami 19th February 2011 01:04 AM

That would be.. stupid.. simply stupid xD

Because they are completely different things, you can't compare them to Ayu.

AngelSenshi 19th February 2011 02:19 AM

I won't dare say it's impossible for any reason. Just when Ayu makes us believe something is impossible or won't be done, or have certain expectations, she crushes us by doing something completely not what we were expecting.

Honestly, if she ended up going to this convention I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest.

rusuke 19th February 2011 03:03 AM

We never know. It might be impossible to see Ayu in this convention but still there's chance.

Even though, Ayu's genre is quite different with GACKT, YOSHIKI, MIYAVI, and, SUGIZO, I believe Ayu's name would some times be linked to anime especially her music is anime-like in some matter.

I'm surprised "DBSK" is going lol

I don't see at all why Ayu would be at a convention.

Her anime stuff was YEARS ago, and it was a few things :/

yunapaooza 30th March 2011 11:38 PM

Hi everyone, I heard a rumour that Ayumi will be playing in Birmingham, England this August. Apparently it's going to be for a convention which the proceeds go to charity. The owner told me that he cannot confirm nor deny anything, if the group does not meet a quota of 10,000 people within the next two months it shall not be able to run regardless of whether or not they have rumoured celebrities. So if you could please add this group on facebook – it’s a big cosplay / anime / Japanese convention.

http://www.facebook.com/nipponichiba...00000702399126

And I hope to see both you and Ayu there ~ <3

So there's this concert / gig in Birmingham in August (Sunday 7th) and I've heard rumours from some good sources that Ayumi hamasaki will be playing there. But I also heard that the facebook group needs to meet a quota of possible pre-press released artists before it can go ahead - apparently they're struggling with PR and are worried that if they don't get enough they will have to cancell everyone (potentially including Ayumi if she is confirmed)
so here's the facebook page, if you could join it would be a very nice way to show support for ayu in the uk ~ :

Much love

Yumsushi 7th April 2011 01:00 AM

I doubt it'll happen, but if she's going to be performing then I'd do whatever it takes to go (even put up with the cosplayers and the Otakus).

jpopfan 7th April 2011 04:29 AM

What is it with the facebook page yunapaooza posted? Almost everything on there is about sex, sexual assault, almost or nude anime girls...is that really necessary?

kendelle 10th April 2011 10:16 AM

Wow, good luck to them paying for her =|

They'll need to pony up her expenses, flights, accommodation, her entourage as well as rights to Avex for her performance. Wonder how they'll afford all that!!!! *_*

C+R+E+AYUMI 12th April 2011 08:25 AM

doubting, but never say never right?
