Who is the best live?
Alright now it's time to vote on which artist you think is the best live. I searched for a thread on this and couldn't find one, but if there was one, I'm sorry!!
Options are: (1) Ayumi Hamasaki (2) Namie Amuro (3) Utada Hikaru (4) Koda Kumi (5) BOA (6) Alan (7) Other The poll is for overall best live. However, I also would like to know who are your favorite live performers and how would you characterize them? If you choose Other, please specify! For example, my overall live is Utada. However my favorite live performers are: Utada, Ayumi, and Namie. I would characterize each as the following: Utada: Voice Namie: Dancing Ayumi: Theatrics (Obviously you can be more descriptive...lol) Please share! :D |
Hikki! But Kuu & Namie are pretty solid too...although sometimes I can't tell if Namie is singing live lol. Ayu has her ups & downs when it comes to her lives....
|
Ayu... not the best voice over there, but one of the biggest stage presences I ever saw on a perform (not only on Jpop, but in any music genre), an amazing stage control, and the capacity of putting lots of passion and emotion and power even on the simplest performance...

The best performer is Ayu for me.
Not just because she's my favorite singer out there lol but because I agree with this Quote:
|
Other, B'z. :luv2 They may not have the theatrics that ayu has, but they know how to work the crowd!! :D
|
Kuu for me.
She has an amazing stage presence and a lot of charisma. She fills out the whole stage without any problems. And what I personally adore is that you can always tell that she's so happy to be on stage and to sing and perform, it is her dream came true. Also her vocals are normally great, though sometimes on fast songs they're weaker due to dancing (and often due to enjoying herself and having fun, lol). On ballads and slower songs she shines. Plus she can dance pretty nicely and shows it in every tour at least once. Her tours are also well done with one specific theme they present from before the hall till the end when you leave. Always something to looking forward to. Her live performances are what made me such a big fan of her. Her voice, her charisma - the package is just amazing! |
I love Ayu to death, but Kuu is a better performer and has more stage presence imo. And I agree with Corvina, you can tell she absolutely LOVES what she does. XD
|
alan
Am I the first vote?? Are you serious!? :no |
I would have voted for alan because she's so amazing live, but I guess overall, I enjoy Ayu's concerts the most. They're just so fun and the energy is great!
But if the question was asking who is the best live vocally, then definitely alan :luv2 |
other being Arashi, of course! :P :laugh they are so fun & energetic on stage in their tours. there's also a good amount of audience interaction, as well. and i also enjoy the theme of their performances & their outfits, setting, etc...
but after Arashi, i'd have to to choose koda kumi. she also has amazing tours and great concepts! :D and then i'd say namie amuro & ayumi. but each artist has their own way of performing, so overall, i'd say their all great in their own ways. :) |
I would say ayu. the first time I saw her live I was like wow she's amazing.
I really love seeing her live than pvs. I would also say namie, koda, boa and 2NE1. |
Koda is my favorite live entertainer. She has some bad vocal moments, but also has some really amazing ones. She has great stage presence and her dances are great. She also has a really good blend of theatrics and props.
I really like watching Namie too, but I kinda feel like Im watching more of a dance group than one person. I really love her ballads though, and her vocals are usually decent enough to be pleasant. Ayu is an amazing performer because of her stage presence. You really feel like youre watching and a part of something magical, but her vocals are exceptionally weak, and sometimes her themes and props are like wtf. Hikki is a great entertainer because her music is just so spectacular and unique, and hikki matches that. Her concerts are rollercoasters of soothing moments, fun dance tracks, and her just rocking out. You dont even miss big props or anything. Alan is one of the most amazing vocalists, and she always reduces me to tears, but I cant stay awake through one of her concerts to save my life...I think it will get better as she releases more. Boa is really great because her vocals and dancing are great...but I just usually dont feel the same stage presence from her as from ayu or koda. BENI is another one of my favs. Ive never seen someone besides maybe alan, have better vocals throughout an entire show, its so intoxicating. I just wish she had more props and dancing, but...sometimes I dont even care lol |
ayu & kumi
|
Well...it depends on what you're looking for in a live concert. Are you more interested in a big and entertaining show or do you care more about the voice of the artist on stage?
I voted for alan, because her voice is just AWESOME live! It's true that she is not an entertainer like Ayu, Namie and Kumi, but for me the voice is most important and that's why I picked alan. But I love Onitsuka Chihiro as much as I love alan, because her voice is just as great!! :heart |
Koda Kumi that's more than obvious!!
She's the Queen of Live with the best voice^^ |
Koda Kumi, hands down. Every concert is different from the previous ones which is why she's the best. :luv2
|
Theatrics: Ayu
Dancing: Namie Voice: MISIA I ended up choosing MISIA because even though I enjoy Ayu's concerts so much (or used to until they became so much of the same), she just can't sing that well. At least, she can't sing well nowadays. MISIA's voice just gives me chills every time she sings live. She has the most amazing tone, and some of the notes she hits are just unbelievable. Namie's my favorite artist, but her concerts are pretty much stagnant at being above average. She has a fantastic voice, but it's mostly just a lot of dancing, with some cool set-pieces here and there. |
Ayu, because I love her voice live and no one else can come close to her stage presence!
|
I found myself enjoying Kuu more than Ayu, tbh. Kuu just has more energy. Plus, the fan crying on her song SHAKE IT in her TRICK tour = best moment I've ever seen live :laugh
|
SPEED. very attractive, great dancer, great voice and not boring
|
1. 浜崎あゆみ
2. 安室奈美恵 3. alan 4. 倖田來未 |
Other, Perfume or AKB48. Not great singers though.
For vocals: Utada Hikaru or alan Showmanship: Koda Kumi Dancing: Perfume |
I had to go with Koda. I LOVE LOVE LOVE Ayu and I teeter-tottered for a while over which I should choose but Ayu's concerts seem to go the same way... :/ R'n'RC was different, yes (and flippin' amazing vocal and performance-wise) (hands-down my favorite concert from her). But a lot of them seemed to be the same from the past. Koda blew me away with Dream Music Park (if I'm not mistaken, that's what it was called xD). The vocals were AMAZING. (a little over-sung sometimes but nothing out of the ordinary for Kuu) Since then, I couldn't deny that she's A.M.A.Z.I.N.G live!
Of course, I love all the artist for the poll so I was left boggled for a minute. |
Ayu. She's not even the best singer on the list, but her stage presence and her emotions glued me on the show, that's one thing about Ayu that I love so much
If you ask me who's the best vocally I'd vote for alan without doubt |
Koda Kumi.
|
Ayu. BEST STAGE PRESENCE!
|
Koda Kumi
And Ayumi Hamasaki :heart |
All of them perform great live. Their live singing voices can not be beat, they sound just like the CD, and performing them live, they add even more emotion to it.
I have to say Ayu though, her concerts are just epic and legendary. She goes all out. |
Ayu for me <3
|
Ayu! even though i enjoy Ai Otsuka more!(but i lost my interest for Ai chin since Love Piece tour)
|
Out of these, I'd say Namie Amuro is the most enjoyable live. Although I don't listen to her as much as the others.
|
Ayu. But I'm probably biased because the only other person I've watched is Namie Amuro.
|
At one point I would have said Ayu, but recently I've been totally loving Kuu's concerts, and its gotten to the point where I compare every Ayu concert and think "I liked Kuu's better". In fact, I hold all concerts to Kuu's standards. She's ruined Western artists' concerts for me, because I don't think they compare at all. They are boring to me now. When my mom and friends watch Ayu's concerts they just sit and watch. When its Kuu they are all "she's so pretty", "she puts on a great show" and "her vocals are so amazing!".
|
Namie
When it comes to vocal and body control, Namie handles it like a pro, and stage presence comes naturally. Utada would be a close second because she's all about the voice and the music. I looove when she adds variation in the arrangements for certain live performances, like with "Devil Inside" in Utada United 2006. |
Abingdon boys school no doubt. UGH, Takanori is incredible when he performs live. I have both their live DVDs. Love to see a live one day.
Alan is almost incredible live and Utada, so I choose other. |
alan. hands down
|
Ayu
When she performes, you feel the emotions and my heart always jumps a little. Ypu never know what's coming. Her performances are the most memorable, imo. |

alan, she's a goddess
|
Ayu <3 Certainly... :)
|
Koda Kumi.
She really sets the standard in my humble opinion. I find her live shows more fascinating and captivating than the live shows of other world class top acts. |
Ayu is my goddess, but I prefer Kuu's lives. :innocent They're more entertaining to me.
|
Ayu for sure
|
ayumi!!!
|
ayaka and Angela Aki.
|
Nana Mizuki !!! abd Ayu of course ^^
|
Considering I've only ever seen Utada live, I voted for her. Judging from the others clips, in terms of voice only, I'd most likely still vote for Hikki!
