Ayumi Hamasaki X Namie Amuro

I just wish Ayu would do a collaboration with Namie Amuro~~ :)...What do you guys think?:yes

Kana×Shin 7th August 2011 04:22 AM

Ofcourse, I would totally love this collaboration...hope someone will mention this to あゆ thru twitter or direct message:)

SURREAL__RAINBOW 7th August 2011 04:24 AM

and kuu, otherwise not lol

I want a threesome :innocent

joshohhhhh 7th August 2011 04:30 AM

honestly, i'm surprised it hasn't happened. it would be such a smart move, instead of them constantly collaborating with lesser artists.

YUKARI 7th August 2011 04:32 AM

I'd love ALL her collabs with female artists!

Miduhyo 7th August 2011 05:03 AM

I think it would be so cool!!!! I'd love it!!!

Kazeyomi 7th August 2011 05:03 AM

I'd die for see both of them collab together.
Although their music style is pretty different from each other. But oh well she have collaborated with Anna Tsuchiya as well, so :D

emi♡ 7th August 2011 05:13 AM

Not really for me lol

I don't see their personalities going together, their artistic directions going together, the way they sing is different...their music styles are different...they have way different fashion styles lol

what are they going to sing? Like, a 90's styled song? Maybe a ballad would be okay.

I kinda agree with Surreal...they could collab but only if other artists were involved too.

revolution9292 7th August 2011 06:00 AM

i believe ayu would fit in well in tempest, fight together or get myself back. So, it wouldn't be that awkward depending on the genre of the music

terra 7th August 2011 06:08 AM

It would be a greater idea putting divas like that
They could collaborate on a new song! It would be more widely appreciated instead of collaborating with lesser artist like joshohhhhh said, imo

Yeah, all three of those songs would be up Ayu's alley imo.

And seriously, after Queen of Hip-Pop Namie Amuro collabbing with Anna Tsuchiya, nothing will surprise me anymore, so go for it XD

Now that Ayu's popped her collaboration cherry, she should really shop around~ :lech

kotora 7th August 2011 06:59 AM

I would love that idea but what is the song going to be like?

Ayumi hamasaki x Namie Amuro: Two Queens (Pull each hair)

Well, and what's the point of a collab between 2 similar artists? The result will sound like anything they already do...

love in music 7th August 2011 07:12 AM

It all depends on what type of song it is and what composers/arrangers are behind it. Like, I wouldn't want any sort of hip hop style song or any type of song similar to Namie's most recent works. Their images however, would be perfect together and make for some beautiful covers. They both know how to take a very good picture.

emi♡ 7th August 2011 07:14 AM

@Andre: I just mean that I think for some things, certain people will sound and look out of place :shrug

Most people that do collab together ARE similar lol like all the R&B people.

If they can produce something that's great and not ridiculous, then fine, some people have said namie's newer stuff would be right up Ayu's alley, if that's true, then maybe they should...but I think it could either be really great, or really really bad...and idk...nothing is worse than a collaboration where the artists have no chemistry and they look ridiculous lol

like I said, I think a ballad would be safe, and maybe the rockier stuff, cause they've both done that style and pulled off the look.

SURREAL__RAINBOW 7th August 2011 07:28 AM

I think something pop/electropop (not the cutesy electropop thou) would work for them (including kuu btw), because they've all done pop and it's good.

They should really have a single, get 1 to 3 songs together and 3 songs individually :innocent I would kill for that and I'm serious.

Omg I can totally see it, namie and kuu dancing around ayu who's tied up and being punished à la S&M :love

I could produce this ****

se7entheaven 7th August 2011 09:53 AM

Namie and Kuu will be a better collab. Imagine they both dance fiercely.

SURREAL__RAINBOW 7th August 2011 09:55 AM

^then go make a thread about it

Mirrorcle Monster 7th August 2011 10:05 AM

I dreamed it today!!! But it was kind of shocking
Namie was found dead at her house, and avex announced a best album for Christmas. And it included a collaboration ballad between Ayu and Namie. It was an amazing ballad, and sounded like Tempest mixed with Days

If they were male I could totally comparing them as Zeus & Hades <3
(If u guys read Saint Seiya, u would know what i mean lol)

a_kingdom21 7th August 2011 12:41 PM

yes i'd love it, that would be a amazing collaboration, :luv2 :love but...
when does it come true ?? :confused

Minttulatte 7th August 2011 01:33 PM

I wouldn't mind Ayu x Namie (+ Kuu) collaboration at all. That would be sexy. :D

I would approve of a Ayu x Namie collab if it was this only.

AyUmIXx 7th August 2011 03:58 PM

if they ever collab, they need to do a ballad!!
i always wish they could sing together <3
both my top Jpop queens haha

njanjayrp 7th August 2011 04:11 PM

Absolutely not. Namie's sound is too mainstream for Ayu and we already saw what happens when you combine Ayu with something too mainstream -> Dream ON = atrocity. If they were to do a rock song or a heavy ballad that might even work, otherwise NO.

pommy48 7th August 2011 04:17 PM

Maybe one day when Avex is desperate for more money :laugh

jbrat2219 7th August 2011 04:18 PM

No, I'm trying to imagine their voices together and it doesn't sound right to me. I think Namie's vocals are much softer than Ayu's in a way. I think Ayu would need someone with more rough around the edge vocals like Kumi. Plus Ayu and Kumi's styles overlap more often than than Ayu and Namie's. I could see a You were.../Days/Suki de type collaboration for the two :yes

yamashita.san 7th August 2011 04:43 PM

I don`t need collaborations at all...

Yeah, cuz ayu is totally an indie artist xD

Beauty4123 7th August 2011 05:44 PM

i would so love this idea! if namie could collab with yamapi, why not ayu? :P but i honestly doubt it'll happen, in the near future, anyway. but that picture Rocky_Raven posted is really amazing. :luv2 now i wish they would collaborate for real. :weep :laugh

Diego-kun 7th August 2011 06:01 PM

I love them both but I honestly think their music styles, voices and personalities are too different so it could be a bit weird.

NintendoHTF1242 7th August 2011 06:03 PM

No

ayu_ready? 7th August 2011 08:12 PM

if it is a ballad, it'd be epic. other than that, the styles are too different ;)

xLitax 8th August 2011 12:09 AM

Namie would outshine too much.

koumori 8th August 2011 01:27 AM

I think it'd be interesting! :)

PoetGirl 8th August 2011 02:00 AM

NO.

Its not just that ayu>namie, its just that... their styles are totally different, its like
having a duet with britney spears and mariah carey.

britney would be so embarassed in that case, and namie would be so embarassed in ayu case.

yeah, go ahead and hate me lol, this is ayu forum after all.

ren'ai 8th August 2011 02:27 AM

^ but namie can actually sing :s why would she be embarassed? if they did a ballad, she can sing real well, even imo, better than ayu vocally, though ayu has more emotion... and if they did a dance song she would outdance ayu so i don't see how namie would be embarassing in any case :\

regardless, i agree voices don't really match for a duet but ayu pulled off the naoya duet so we could be suprised if they ever did

xLitax 8th August 2011 03:16 AM

^ Yeah. Namie is about 100x better of a singer than Ayu. It seriously pains me to listen to ayu most of the time. I don't think Namie would be the one to be embarrassed. :laugh

jbrat2219 8th August 2011 03:22 AM

^ Good thing it doesn't pain Namie since she's been to Ayu's shows a few times. :laugh

I don't know anything technical about singing to tell who's better than who but they both sound fine to me. :shrug

JackieRos 8th August 2011 03:29 AM

Ayu and Namie I don't see it really.

They have different styles of music, ayu is popish and namie is hip popish.

It'll be cool though I guess.

adantatu2 8th August 2011 03:37 AM

A collab just with namie is really interesting, namie made interesting collaborations in the past, and

:yes a collab between the 3 avex divas is a really nice idea, i can imagine that !!

MemorialAddress 8th August 2011 05:53 AM

EW GOD no, I would never want this to happen. Not only would it be horror for my ears, but it would also just be... I don't know. All around awful.
I'm pretty sure if this ever happens, it'll be the first ever Amuro song that I don't like :P

Comparing Namie & Ayu as Britney Spears & MIMI, seriously dun u feel embarassed about ur own odd comparison? At least comparing them with two ppl who have the same age pls, Mariah Carey > Brit 10 years old LEVEL, while Ayu is even 1 year younger than Namie dear. Gosh~

sesshy 8th August 2011 07:30 AM

I can see a nice modeling duo from Rocky Raven's picture? But I'm having a hard time seeing them collab in a song. I love both of them and it would be interesting to see the outcome. I don't know for me. ^^;

PoetGirl 8th August 2011 09:59 AM

I meant in artistic sense, Namie is just like 'docta docta' or 'copy that copy that'
and ayu is not that kind of artist, namie is basically like japanese britney spears
'gimme gimme more gimme more'. Thats what I meant with that. Not vocally (lol no)

Miku 8th August 2011 10:59 AM

AyuxNamie

it should be awesome

Chibi-Chan 8th August 2011 12:18 PM

I love Ayu and I like Namie, but doing a collab together wouldn't be a good idea, I think. Their music is way to different and I don't think their voices would match.

By the way, technically Ayu may not be the best singer. I watched Namies BEST FICTION and Play tour and her vocals weren't god at all. Both ladies aren't the best singers in the world. But being technically a good singer isn't what matters the most for their fans. And to be honest, I prefer the sound of Ayu's voice a hundred times over those voices of people who are called great singers. And of course you may find that Namie is a better singer and that you prefer her voice. But to say "I have vocal training and know it better than you all" really causes me to laugh because it's a really dump way of trolling.

And yeah, I know that Ayu IS the BEST singer in the world because I have a record deal. :P

No more words to say to u, guess that judging a book by its cover is ur style of seeing thing.
~ Read the lyrics of Doctor pls before u judge it as britney spears type of song. http://megchan.com/lyrics/index.php?...muro_Namie/Dr.
The way u see an artist makes me feel sorry for u, seriously~

NintendoHTF1242 8th August 2011 05:54 PM

PoetGirl, you can't judge an entire Namie song based on the English lyrics. That logic just, omg no words.

Minttulatte 8th August 2011 06:18 PM

Namie's songs have very deep lyrics even though she doesn't write them herself. She's not singing about doctors and gimme mores all the time. :<

//And because there'll be artist bashing in these kind of threads at some point anyway, I've never started any kind of threads like this. They're always locked or end up being in the trash can lol. XD

Dr. was a bad example as that song actually has very interesting lyrics. I guess Hide & Seek, Sexy Girl, Want Me Want Me and other songs like that would be a better example. She has her share of nice lyrics and the majority of her songs with some exceptions are well written regardless if they are actually worth something or not. Anyways regardless of that, lyrically Ayu beats Namie anytime, the same way Namie beats Ayu at dancing and no matter how you look at it Namie's music is way more mainstream than Ayu's so PoetGirl isn't totally off.

thatstacey 8th August 2011 06:35 PM

I don't think Namie and Ayu's styles would mesh well, but I also don't think that would stop me from buying all three editions of their collaborative single.

I have to disagree here...

Namie sings a lot about sex, but even if that's very common in western pop, it's also something very different for a female pop singer to do in Japan...

Even some of her most upbeat tracks have some very interesting statments... in the end of the day, it's on Wild that she says that "japanese people don't think hard", what isn't by any means something safe to say on a pop song, but totally makes sense for her considering some stuff she went through...

Not genius lyrics (still, if we are going in that direction, Hikki would be my weapon of choice :P), but far from being your everyday generic jpop

ren0210989 8th August 2011 07:05 PM

am i the only person who thinks Namie can't really dance? :/
don't get me wrong... she does the choreography and knows the movements but... that's all... she's so stiff and has absolutely no groove at all...
i only like some of her songs... idk she always sounds like she's bored to me :/
but i like her anyways, i'm not bashing or anything just stating my opinion here.

i just can't see her and ayu 2gether in a song...
but a 3sum with kuu would be something i'd be eager to see but i think that would turn out bad too xD

MemorialAddress 8th August 2011 07:09 PM

I can't believe anyone would compare Amuro to Britney... they are NOTHING alike. Amuro actually sings live, dances (even if it is a little boring), has meaningful songs (sometimes hehe) and then you look at Britney who rarely sings live, "dances" aka ...I don't even know, but you definitely can't call what she does dancing anymore :laugh
Two totally different artists who do not deserve to be compared just because they're both pop singers.

Andrenekoi 8th August 2011 07:14 PM

Namie danced more back in the 90s/early 00s, but she also lip-synched to some songs... Her coreographies are simpler now, but she sings the whole thing live...

And Britney is singing live on this tour... from 40% to 80% of it depending on the source...

MemorialAddress 8th August 2011 07:18 PM

Oh, Brit's singing live now? I think I did see a performance of hers where she sang live... I won't even talk about what I think of the quality of her live singing anymore :laugh

Andrenekoi 8th August 2011 07:25 PM

^There's some videos of her singing live on the Official Thread

PoetGirl 8th August 2011 07:25 PM

Im not even bothered to explain literally Namie's songs, I listened to her discography before I make some conclusions, and what I said was like in overdo-funny way,

but like I said, Im not even going to bother, she's so boring that I would fall asleep talking about her any further.

No, you're not. I've always thought Namie was extremely overrated as a dancer. :no Yeah, she does the moves and all, but it's like watching a robot dance. There's no point if there's like zero emotion there. :shrug

I can't dance to save my life so I'm in no position to talk about Namie but I do wish she had more emotion in her face when she's dance and/or performing. She has such a beautiful, stunning smile and when she smiled (I forget which tour it was) while performing one of her older hits it melted my heart. I wish she'd do that while dancing.

Actually I agree 100%...I think she's a great dancer, but she looks like an android when she dances! & I also agree that she does have a stunning smile! She needs to show it off more!

I would rather her not smile when she's dancing~ It just looks weird if she does with her dances since she's more 'cool'

But when she does smile during slow songs like White Light during BEST FICTION TOUR, it just melts your heart. :luv2

I like the way Namie performs because that's just her way of performing. Like with Ayu, she performs with so much emotion that sometimes my friends say why is she so dramatic? lol

I don't wish for Namie to show more emotions just like I don't wish for Ayu to perform with less emotions. If they're comfortable with the way they perform, then I'm comfortable watching them.

I can agree with that. And it's not that I particularly want her to smile while dancing it's just that if she threw you a sassy look every once in a while or something. In her PVs she has that look! But I guess being on stage is very different. I can identify with Namie's nature so I enjoy her performances otherwise. She really is a machine! I don't know how she does all of what she does in the first place.

MemorialAddress 8th August 2011 08:17 PM

Well would it really make sense for her to smile while singing songs like "WANT ME WANT ME" / other sexy songs? It'd be so out of place... :P

jbrat2219 8th August 2011 08:19 PM

^ Sorry I didn't explain myself well, that wasn't really what I meant. xD; I meant something along the lines of a sassy look or something that brought out emotion from me.

Since most of her songs have choreography, so I always took as it that she's just trying to remember the moves and the lyrics X_X

And oh! if it helps, during BEST FICTION TOUR, she looked like she was about to collapse from 3 hours of non stop dancing and singing :laugh

Andrenekoi 8th August 2011 08:21 PM

^She could give the audience a naughty smile, that would be totally hot

Oh my post wasn't meant to be in reply to what you said xD I totally understood what you meant hahaha :D It was really aimed at other people.

It would be nice. It would be a very interesting mix of styles, much better than a collaboration with Koda Kumi styles are too different. I'd love a duet with MiChi. They're my two favorite artists!!! XD :innocent:love

Not Fade Away 9th August 2011 12:08 AM

I would LOVE it, but I don't think their voices would go together well :-/.

If they picked the right song, then I'd be all for it :D.

I actually do wish Ayu would perform with less emotions :laugh But I totally agree with you on Namie. It just makes her even cooler that she's the "ice queen" most of the time. That's why so much of Japan thinks she's so cool.

you guy know who i really want Ayu to collaborate with? GACKT!!! they r such good friends too so it wouldn't be awkward for them ^^

and don't go telling me about that Xmas eve song they had ages ago... that sounded bad.. real bas >.<'

Not Fade Away 9th August 2011 05:48 AM

^lol I would also love this. It would totally work too since they love rock and could totally do a rock song together.

And haha, I agree with the Namie Ice Queen comments. I love the fact that she's so 'cool'. Though I love it even more when she's singing solo, gets embarrassed by the audience and smiles haha.

I can't even imagine how they would perform together. Ayu doesn't dance so she'd be standing there making lots of dramatic gestures while Namie danced circles around her.

LONJJONG 13th August 2011 07:24 AM

It might be so awkward seeing them collaborating ~ huh?

Definitely. Gackt and Ayu's rock is very similar. It's almost interchangeable. Well for Ayu to sing GACKT songs would be so cool! I just think a rock collab would be tight!

This would be visually amusing lol

Not Fade Away 16th August 2011 02:57 AM

^lol, I know right?

Namie's performance style kind of reminds me of Janet Jackson's a little bit. Both of them are more cool and like dance-oriented than dramatic (of course I've only seen a handful of Janet's performances, so I'm basing my opinion off of that).

I think she said Janet was one of her influences at one point in time too? I could totally be pulling that out of my butt though....teehee

I just think they're soooo different in styles of performance and in vocal techniques. The closest song Namie has to an Ayu song is probably Tempest and that's only because it reminds me of some of Ayu's 'epic' tracks in that sense.

I would still love it though....It would probably make my head explode because it would be two of my all-time favorite JPop artists on stage together.

Two totally different artists who do not deserve to be compared just because they're both pop singers.

i think its because namie and britney music is pretty similar(mostly dance type with some ballads) but the way they does it sooo different, just like that u said.

Yeap, Namie is a huge Janet fan, and her both her performance style and most coreography are very inspired by Janet's...

Some people said Britney and Namie are somewhat similar... Britney also had a huge inspiration on Janet's choreography and overall performance style... So, they were inspired by the same person.

lol! I just imagined this perfectly.

I do think a Namie X Ayu collaboration would be cool though. Actaully, I think it'd be awesome if Ayu collaborated with any of the "J-Pop queens". (Kuu, Hikki, Ai, Namie...)

Although, I'm not sure their voices would mesh together well?

Rocky Raven 25th August 2011 06:47 PM

^ agree!
Actually, puttin' aside their voice, i think their image could totally blends quite well together, look at these pictures, isn't she the AYUMI.NAMIE?

I deeply wish this collaboration would happen x)

Minttulatte 25th August 2011 06:49 PM

^Never seen these pics before. She looks beautiful, and I can see some Ayu here too. They would be so cool together~ :luv2

Rocky Raven 25th August 2011 07:01 PM

It was VIVI 2004, the cover even look'd more Ayuish x)

I don't see their personalities going together, their artistic directions going together, the way they sing is different...their music styles are different...they have way different fashion styles lol

what are they going to sing? Like, a 90's styled song? Maybe a ballad would be okay.

I kinda agree with Surreal...they could collab but only if other artists were involved too.

This.

Jason 26th August 2011 06:50 AM

I'd like it as a once off performance and only that.

As far as an actual release goes; no. They have VERY different styles and their voices just wouldn't mesh well together at all.
