I would cry if I saw November live...

This song I have heard some say they do not like her vocals. Or that it doesn't take off. Might be boring. But, I truly adore this song and is one of my favorite's ever for the sheer fact at how beautiful it is. The violins and string work that carry the song along are out of this world! If you listen to the song and zone in on those strings, you really feel apart of the emotion. But the song REALLY takes off when Ayu belts out the chorus was final time at the end. Compared to her singing style throughout the rest of the song, singing audibly but just not belting it out, well it all comes to bloom during this finale. I really feel like she's a little bird just singing out at the top of her lungs:

"If I had one more wing
And could fly freely in the sky like a bird
I'd like to give the both wings to you
So that you can fly to anywhere you want..."

"Moshimo watashi ni mou hitotsu no tsubasa ga haete
Tori no you ni jiyuu ni sora wo habataketa toshita nara
Sono tsubasa o dochira mo anata ni sasage tai
Anata ga suki na tokoro e tonde yukeru you ni..."

As Ayu sings each line, the power of her voice grows progressively stronger until the end of that line. The entire climax of the song is the section I made bigger. At that part, her voice is her loudest, strongest, and most powerful, as she sings her little heart one last time. The way she trails off the last line, returning to a more peaceful way of singing, it's as if the emotion is something like

"So I've laid it all on the line, shouted my emotions from the rooftop in hopes that you would hear this little bird. I have laid it out on the line and I will continue feeling this way"

I would love to hear her new power vocals for this song live! I loved the vocals from R'n'R for Memorial address and count down (and that was before the vocal training). Can you imagine what a beautiful performance this would be!?

!Lawi! 12th August 2011 09:58 AM

Definitely ! This song is already so emotional in studio version...
Actually, I consider it one of the few "original" ballads in Ayu's carreer, and I'm really into it since Ls was released.

Well, actually, Hotel Love songs MUST happen, because not only November, but also sending mail, crossroad and do it again must be perfomed !

Zeke. 12th August 2011 10:03 AM

Yes Sending Mail would be so epic as well - I just think Love songs is the type of album to really SHINE IT'S TRUE BEAUTY live! That's what makes not having Hotel Love songs so disheartening.

Yoake 12th August 2011 10:37 AM

I thought everybody hate November! Nice to see other people than me love it. It's really an original song.

It's possible that she'll do something special for the CDL 2011-2012.& we'll be able to hear a lot of songs from Love songs. After all, she knows that we wanted to see Hotel Love songs too.

asmAyumi1992 12th August 2011 10:38 AM

Yes !!! I really wanna see November live freaking much since the first time I listen to this song :cry Your post is totally my thought :yes

Tom Punks 12th August 2011 03:44 PM

I adore November. :weep I would cry if I saw it live, too! As long as there was no shirtless guy flailing on stage next to her.

I honestly don't really like the song's chorus, but the rest of it is amazing. :luv2

jbrat2219 12th August 2011 04:11 PM

I have dreams about seeing this song live. I'm in love with it. Best song she's had in a while.

why people would hate this song? I love it so much as it's one of my fav song in LS album!!

Miduhyo 12th August 2011 04:46 PM

November is like... one of my most favorite songs from her ever. I absolutely love it! When I listened to the whole album November was the first one I went back to. I love it sooooooooo fricken much! I'd cry like a child if I saw it live. Oh, definitely. I was shocked when I saw that people didn't like it! But, oh well. I still love it and I'll love it for a loooong time!!!! :D

NintendoHTF1242 12th August 2011 04:49 PM

I have a love/hate relationship with that song. But I'll listen to it again to see what you're talking about. I do adore the instrumentation though.

CherryMoon 12th August 2011 05:15 PM

i love this song sooo much tooo! it reminds of christmas!

Yumsushi 12th August 2011 06:05 PM

I too would cry, but because I can't stand the song, lol

love in music 12th August 2011 06:33 PM

^before I clicked this thread, I just knew someone would come in here to say that. :rolleyes

The song is amazing and a standout ballad in her discography.. she has nothing else that sounds like it which makes it really special to me. I would love to see it live.

AyuHamasaki01 12th August 2011 07:29 PM

I love November :heart It's such an amazing and beautiful song.

Mimichild 12th August 2011 07:41 PM

It is such a beautiful song! Now I'm going to listen to again!!

Ranma Matsuri 12th August 2011 07:57 PM

I would too. It's a simply beautiful yet emotionally powerful song. It and MOON are the best ballads she's had in a long time and two of the best she's had ever.

Taru86 12th August 2011 08:03 PM

I would definitely cry as well. "November" is a beautiful song, and it has been on of my favorites off of "Love songs" since the first time I heard the album. Seeing "November" performed live with her new vocals would be breathtaking. :heart

Heldin 12th August 2011 09:48 PM

I would cry as well! Listening to this song on CD already makes my eyes wet. It's a very beautiful, powerful and touching song! I think, Ayu would cry while singing too. How I wish she would perfom this song one day, impersonating it on the stage with the sad love story like she did it with Rainy day/BALLAD on RnRC tour.

xLuna&1LOVE 12th August 2011 10:19 PM

I would cry if Ayu sings that song without faking emotion and without an unnecessary show. She once did that with BALLAD in the recent RnRC Tour and personally, I think that kind of crap is working out negatively. Certainly, because I think a lot of artists put that sort of acted drama in their shows. We know Ayu can even send the message without all that stuff, like she did with the well-known Memorial Address performance and A Song for Xx at a'nation. I want that. And if she can do that with the November song (which is not a fav song for me) I will cry for her and say: "Great performance Ayu. Well done."

Relax. lol~

Anyhow, I do see what is special about this song's arrangement though, and I think the bridge is really lovely but I find her voice almost intolerable in this song, especially in the chorus. It maybe cause the song is pretty personal to her, and she got emotional when recording it.

That's what I hear from the people who don't like it. They say they do not like her voice, which I do not understand. I think her vocals are great. MUCH BETTER than in Curtain Call or especially Thank U! But you see the ending climax I truly love her voice there BECAUSE it sounds like she is almost about to cry when she sings sasage tai. I anticipate that part of the song each time I listen to it.

Glad to see so many November lovers here. I didn't think the song got as much love as it deserved. I would absolutely die for an instrumental. It's just such a standout instrumentation.

pommy48 13th August 2011 05:18 AM

I love this song :luv2 But only because of the instrumental lol...I always say to others that I would love it more if I didn't hear Ayu xD

Lol, I have to say, seeing the replies to this made me feel I can't post in here :tired

But anyway, I do like the song, except for the cheap sounding keyboard sound through it. I swear it was one of the sounds my old keyboard used to make when I was eight, whenever I listen to it I literally cringe.

Before people start hatin', I do like her vocals, just not that keyboard sound

Not Fade Away 13th August 2011 06:09 AM

EDT: ^ I am TOTALLY going to hate on you for this....how dare you!!!!

lol.......just kidding!!!

I loooooooooooooooveeeeeee November, and I too am a huge fan of the final 'belt-out' chorus. I think it would be amazing live.

I love Love Songs in general because some of the songs reminded me of her earlier stuff and made me happy.

Are you talking about the little flute sound or that echoing synthesized noise throughout? Because I LOVE THAT ECHOING SYNTHESIZER!! Lol.

jbrat2219 13th August 2011 05:01 PM

The flute nearly killed me when I first heard it. *former flute player*

stepYOU1234 13th August 2011 08:20 PM

I love November. I think it would have to go in my top 10 Ayu songs now. I thought I would grow out of it and that it was 'new album song' love that goes, but it hasn't. It is almost all I listen to when driving (along with Love Songs) I used to be put off by the beginning instrumental but I love all of it now. It all fits together. I love her voice in this. It reminds me of another Ayu favourite of mine, Dearest. Just the emotion in the song. And the heartfelt lyrics :love

I would love to see it performed somewhat like Endless Sorrow DT01. Maybe on a suspended swing or platform with feathers falling around her. Then for the climax, the swing could move out over the audience :D Or something simple but beautiful like Carols AT05..Pretty sparkly white/pale pink dress a must :yes

chu-lips 13th August 2011 11:48 PM

i love november
one of my most played track in love songs..
I like the opening music
n the whole song has mysterious chemistry feels
i love it than the most repeating do it again..
LoL..

Beauty4123 13th August 2011 11:52 PM

"November" is one of ayu's most beautiful ballads. i really do love it. :heart it's definately one of my (many :P) favorites from "Love songs". :)

ExodusUK 14th August 2011 09:52 AM

I don't want to hear PECO and Princess to ruin it.

LONJJONG 16th August 2011 02:55 PM

I love this song too. Even though her vocal is like something weird.. but it's emotional!
I would like to see Like a doll's performance too~
Looking forward~

marekcarey 16th August 2011 03:13 PM

Ach, November, one of the best things ever, I can't understand how someone can say it's boring. I guess only some people can feel this beauty, and it is not them. That's why Ayu gave this to us, the others. :)

Coelacanth 16th August 2011 05:16 PM

She'd butcher this song live imo. She barely pulled off the recording, the final chorus was extremely rough. It's a very difficult song to sing, wouldn't be surprised if she left it out of her tour completely.

have to disagree. she pulled it off just fine in this song, she made her voice like that in purpose. especially the last chorus, its emotional like almost i can feel her sorrow..yup November is my most played track song from Love song.

emi♡ 17th August 2011 12:20 PM

oh, the video game song lol

Honestly, I would LOVE for her to be able to do this song live. This is one of the best songs on the album...but I have to agree with Coelacanth....I don't think she can.

She just doesn't have the control or the power...and for me, I think the vocals in this song are really super important...and yeah, she barely pulled off the recording.

Her voice wasn't soft and calm enough in the beginning and in the verses, and it lacked an oomph in the power needed for the chorus which should be HUGE. It is SUCH a big chorus...which just gets further emphasized because of how much it contrasts with the verses...

idk I still think it'll probably be great to watch...but I want more. The ideas behind this song are epic, and not just the lyrics. Musically....and if her vocals had been there, the song would have been even bigger and more hard hitting.

I do however feel the sincerity in her voice...and I think there's positive things about the way she performed it, and I think that, it's a little more "real" vs something she could have given us that had what I talked about above and was super technical, but, idk...give and take I guess.

I however, don't think it was "on purpose". imo there were very clear expectations of what the vocals in this song were supposed to be like from the composition, and I think she had this recording, and it was the best they had....and somehow, I don't have proof for this, but to me, it kinda sounds like it may have been one of very few recordings...

idk whatever, I'll always dream of the day when Ayu pulls out amazing performances that do justice for songs like these...and all I can do is hope.

sorry.../endlongramblepost

Coelacanth 17th August 2011 05:24 PM

Yeah. The emotion is there, but the technique isn't. She mentioned in a magazine interview that it was the most difficult song to record on Love songs.

Zeke. 17th August 2011 06:29 PM

But I love how the chorus doesn't have that full-on "oomph" until the final chorus of the song, when the most touching lyrics hit. I love how her voice sounds there - so emotional. As far as performing it live, we have heard numerous reactions and comments to her "improved" voice. I wonder how the next tour DVD will sound.

jbrat2219 17th August 2011 07:44 PM

^ OMG YES! That last chorus always gets to me... November is flaw-free!

[edit]

Just listened to it right now and I'm tearing up ;____;.

I'm not exaggerating when I say it's probably the best ballad she has. At least in the top two. It battles Virgin Road for me as my all time favorite Ayu ballad.

aisubeki 17th August 2011 08:49 PM

I cried the first time I heard November, and I still cry every time I play it. I wish she would do it live.

Ironic since I think Virgin Road is among her most boring. Lol.

jbrat2219 18th August 2011 03:26 AM

^ I know you do lol. It just goes to show how much taste varies.

Catfisk 19th August 2011 01:00 PM

GOD, I love November, and I really hope I'll be able to see it live at least once :')
And I love her voice in it, even though you can hear her emotions, I only think it's in a good way.

xLitax 20th August 2011 01:48 AM

The melody is good, but once again her vocals suck. Though, that is nothing new.

Paparazzi 20th August 2011 02:31 AM

i also LOVE November

kagami 20th August 2011 02:42 AM

One of the best ballads she's ever done<3
I like the fact her voice isn't perfect in it, some parts are sweet and soft, some rough, and those parts in the last chorus with just the right amount of power...gorgeous. And it makes it more interesting to listen to. I really think it's as close to perfection as a song can get.

BlackSilence 20th August 2011 03:09 AM

her voice in Love songs annoy me a little but somehow November i totally love, it's my fave on the album. I'd love to see it performed live :yes She sounds like a bird actually in that song like a little bird trying to reach someone.. ^_^

brener 20th August 2011 03:11 AM

this song didt grow up in me yet... maybe live version would.

I'm so used to her vocals sucking that I just don't care anymore. Lol

I adore November and would love to hear it live.

jbrat2219 20th August 2011 05:13 AM

Ayu's vocals have never been that great to begin with so to say the vocals suck is a bit redundant. She's had her moments where her voice is flawless, but from A song from XX until Love songs her voice has always been rough around the edges. It's something you love or hate or learn to tolerate. :shrug

George 20th August 2011 12:58 PM

^ Yeah, I've learned to love it.
